Dont know for sure but sure they have done folk for murder before without a body? Maybe they’ve found evidence that would imply she’s dead? Plus maybe easier to hold him for longer?

one of our resident plod (the honest ones not the ones who won’t admit it openly) could care to enlighten us?

The killers of Paige Chivers round here are serving murder sentences and they never found the body :(

Wasn’t there also one in the Lake District from the 70s

Do find it odd that when the key piece of evidence is missing they can bring a murder change

Must need some really compelling evidence

There is a dodgy one going on in Australia at the moment, a woman scammed a load of people out of 26 million dollars

disappears from home this side of Christmas , big searches etc. Foot in a trainer turns up on a beach last week and is DNA match

question is... would you cut your foot off for 26 million dollars ?

Aye iirc they got them on specks of blood in the blokes flat that he’d missed after a proper clean down with industrial bleach and all that caper.

All seemed pretty loose thinking back but it must have been enough to convince the jury.

Saying it’s going to take a while to identify these remains they’ve found? Given she’s only been missing a short time it’s turned my stomach thinking what he must have done to them to make it take so long 😪

Kinell, not another pair of Wests I hope.

Exactly what I’ve just said to the missus. With him being a copper you wonder if this is the first or he’s managed to somehow get away with stuff before. I sincerely hope not.

Could be predation damage if left in woods for a week. Grizzly as it is, plenty of creatures would show an interest :(

Just don’t. I’ve a horrible feeling about this

Stuff like this always makes me think of the moors murders.

My mum and dad (and me actually) are from that neck of the woods, and she would talk occasionally on the effect of them on the community at the time. Some of the details stuck with me and clearly it affected her too.

I ended up learning more about them, inadvertently, when reading a book about something else.

Fascinating, scary, sickening stuff. Nowt so weird as the human mind.

Can't believe the amount of people victim blaming her asking why was she walking home at 9:30pm on her own? I've walked home alone plenty of times later than that before and to be honest you never feel 100% safe. I'm sending my daughter to self defense classes.

Probably a result of having younger sisters who've told me about their experiences, but if I ever accidentally find myself walking behind a woman who I don't know, I either cross the road, take another route, or hang back until she's out of sight. It's a weird feeling thinking someone might feel intimidated by you, but it must be even weirder and scarier for you lot.

Try to get out for an hour each day to get away from my laptop and go for a walk round here. Always remember my youngest encountering a weirdo who followed her and really shook her up. I do the same as you Cheese as it stuck with me. Problem is sometimes I wonder if I look a bit weird as I slow right down and hang back. Do I look like a stalker ready to strike? Maybe I should power on past?
