Someone round here had their newly installed fence panels stolen the other day. Composite ones. Apparently they cost a fortune

We’ve got 30ft of it down the side of the house looks great but not cheap

They wouldn’t have received covid handouts if they hadn’t paid tax.

JSL

Bollox. Mrs does book keeping for multiple on man bands and they would be on universal credit on what they declare for tax.

Dimron is talking about major construction working under CDM , not house bashing tax Dodgerz who have spent covid hand outs on Mercs and speedboats

But you can only claim on what you’ve paid in tax previously. They’ve nothing else to base the amount on.

Unless you’re fiddling furlough. In that case you’re not a one man band. And have staff who are on PAYE.

Its pretty much one or the other.

Is it ok to spend furlough money on mercs and speedboats by the way?

Plenty of that went on as well. Caused real resentment in our place where site staff we had to furlough due to distancing measures went and did cash in hand work on top of furlough pay.

Mate who has a motorcycle repair garage and spares shop claimed 2 x 10K grants despite garage staying open throughout under premise of  MOTs and 90% of shop trade being online.

Sorry for being bitter about all of this but you may recall me telling how I took 10% payout to subsidise furlough payments and then had staff take most of December off with holiday they hadn't used while on furlough

No need to apologise, we all have crosses to bare and it’s the fuckers screwing the system are the ones in the wrong.

I was alluding to this has all been a free for all for businesses rather than self employed folk. If you didn’t pay tax on last few years, you got nothing. Which is fair enough. It’s the grants and furlough shaggers that have been the pigs in shit.

HMRC are going to go after people big style when all this is done. If you’ve claimed a grant and still made money, you’ll be fucked. They’ll want as much back as possible.

Mentioned it previously

HMRC have already set up teams tasked with rooting out the pisstakers.

They are confident of clawing back of great deal of money.

This isn’t some long established fiddle that accountants have spent years working through loopholes etc.. This is new and there will be people who’ve knowingly took the piss and will be held to account.

We all know the certainties in life. Death and taxes.

All I would say is that if you sent as much as a single email whilst on furlough, you’d better make sure you’ve deleted any evidence from not just your laptops but also your company & remote servers.

HMRC can access those by law and will be doing so.

If you furloughed 20 people and 1 of them is found to have done any work, they’ll get all the money back for everyone you claimed for plus a fine plus interest.

I guarantee that by the end of 2022 the courts are full of failed appeals and folk complaining.

Theyre already targeting companies.
