unfortunately the annual St Georges Day on The Rock is cancelled this year, but the usual 30 names have booked for next year and there will probably be more of us.

Is there any particular reason for selecting to go to Gibraltar?  - would celebrating St Georges Day not, in theory, be more appropriate in England?

Having said that, I guess the weather is always going to be better than it is here

No language barrier, no need to change money, they drive on the left and no foreign beer or food.

England with sun or Benidorm without funding the Spanish tax system.

So Blackpool without the turd laden sea and fast food squelched pavements?

It might be a daft but genuine question? Wouldn’t you want to celebrate England in England on that day?

Gibraltarian patriotism strikes me like American-Irish patriotism.

The celebration of sommat that never really existed in the first place.

I'm celebrating today (the 24th) by baking a cake in the shape of some new fangled and already obsolete bit of technology and then giving someone a dressing down and the sack.

Saint Sir Alan's Day.

St. George's Day is unecessary.

We're the best bit of the best country in the world.

We don't need to crow about it.

Crowing about it and making a silly fuss is un-English.

24th March today.

The day the media are frightened of celebrating.

It is our proud to be English day.

If my new flag had been delivered on time it would have been fluttering proudly above the new shed. A few years ago

Saxon released a live album recorded at The Ritz on this day.

Witnessed by my self and Ashburner St Market and Sputnik Stan.

We spent the afternoon in the Old Monkey and The Circus.  Surrounded by guys who had been to the St Georges day lunch at the Midland Hotel.

I for one will be raising a glass of traditional English stout Ale this evening.

a pint of what you have had SIR

If not, I have a suggestion ..

Saint Rita of Cascia

Saint Rita of Cascia lived a hard and disappointing life, but nonetheless, God used her in amazing ways in life and death.

Poor old Rita sounds just the person.

I organise a lads do every year and we’ve done Benidorm, Marbella and palma a few times. Keep settling on the later but always looking for alternatives - what’s Gibraltar like in September ? Do u fly into Malaga ? Enough for 3 nights for 40 and 50 somethings ???
