Maybe, for the time being, we should use jousting to settle arguments, the slight curve of the concourse and stadium might prove a bit tricky though

I prefer straighteners.  Much more decisive and honorable.

Cambridge do yourself a favour & think before you post, where have I said that that Evatt needs to go no matter what ?.

You will be telling me next that you can play football, a bit like Mounts Maldini (who's still in my pocket from the late 80's)

It’s not the Vulcan vagabond waxing lyrical about his football prowess again. 🙄

we are not getting any better than Doyle at league one or two level .
For people to complain about him not holding the ball up it’s not is game there are plenty of strikers at this level that will hold the ball up and score less than 10 goals a season .

Most of the problem is the service is poor and I am pretty sure if he had a strike partner next to him who could hold the ball up to feed of knock downs you could add another 10 to is tally  .
we play one up front and half the time he is dropping deep or wide to get the ball

The service has been there for a while now & he's missed a bagful of sitters. I'm not saying he needs to be a target man but the number of times the ball is played into his feet & he gets dispossessed with ease is ridiculous.

He is what he is & we are what we are but if we go up we need to be looking for an improvement.... & that applies everywhere.

Yet in that time we have moved up the table into 3rd, strange. We have thrown points away, but so has everyone else. Teams at the bottom are fighting for their lives  and pressure creeps in to teams at the top. It would be incredible if we had sown it up by now, but it is still in our hands.

Sarce has been a huge miss since his injury and that coincides with us dropping off a bit, agree with maybe starting Miller but it isn't time for major changes

Spot on Cambridge

Mounts, there's a few of us old Vulcan lads who could play a bit, as well as keep up with the LH lads at Bolton games. They were great times though with a lot of memories. I've told our leader that I'll have a beer with you & the old LH boys in the hotel when we are allowed back in.

Today Grimsby wanted it more than us on Tuesday its Carlisle I expect us to win no excuses . Sooner we get Sarc back the better because we do not have a number 10 Lee is not the answer

Not sure I go with this wNting it more

We created plenty but their forwards ripped santos to bits

They, as evatt said, would've probably collapsed if thomason hadn't missed that sitter

It will be a pleasure but don’t be boring me with that fluke cup win when you’d all been on a stag week end tale.  We had an off day, cos even Dogger scored. 😂🤣😂

Do yourself a favour and read posts before replying.

I never said you had said that, I presumed you agreed with him, jumping in at his defence.

And no i can't play either, my knees are fucked after a ruptured cruciate, playing football very badly I may add.

Mounts, I'm sure that it was only a 10-1 fluke win with us still pissed up. I'm sure I scored with my left foot from outside the box, although I'm also sure dogger never scored.

Look forward to seeing you, T & Issac etc. when we are allowed back, our leader has asked me a few times to come to the hotel, but I'll deffo come & have a beer as soon as we can, as I said loads of great memories from years ago with your boys and some proper scrapes that we all somehow survived.

Totally agree BS and your point about 12 year olds doing better is actually true, I’ve never seen any professional team as consistently poor at set pieces as this lot. Mind you, even when we do on occasions get them in, we have no threat there. I sadly can’t see that changing much, we have no aerial power or physical strength in the forward line and neither Santos nor Baps can head the ball other than defensively. In fact there really is little point lifting balls in anyway, we should look to take them short and play them in but sadly we can’t do that either!! Since we can’t score from open play either at the moment it’s looking a bit worrying all round. 🙁

We're fairly shite in the air all over the pitch imo, Isgrove & Dapo never win aerial duals, Santos when up against a big CF doesn't win as many as he should for a bloke whose 6ft 7in, in fact we just don't win many aerial battles all over the park. Scoring a header from a free kick or corner is virtually unheard of. We're a team full of pussys really, but we've still done remarkably well from where we were in mid Jan.

We have done remarkable well and I'm not as convinced as everyone else seems to be that we were a lot worse today, we came up against a team fighting for their lives who caught us cold with a brilliant finish that he'll probably never do again and if our goal had come 5 minutes sooner we probably would have found an equaliser.

Also, I'm sure a few on here know Mr H (JH) - top lad & very good player who played for the mighty Vulcan (Deane), probably the best amateur player in Bolton in the late 80's / 90's and could have made it professionally, it would be great to meet up with John again & have a beer or 6, if anyone could assist that would be appreciated.

Yeah but that is the problem Casino we dont take our chances and it's a worry goals win games and we are missing too many and it's going to cost us.

I dont think it will but my issue is the suggestion we didn't 'want it'

Just think we were second best

Exactly, the attitude of the team since January shouldn't be in question,  they want this but it was a very bad day in the office. More likely nerves with a bit of fatigue

Of course we wanted it, we made a terrible start and all the weaknesses we have in the team were exaggerated as huffed and puffed to get in the game.

Gilks made some great saves, but some of his kicking was part of the problem putting pressure on us.
The centre halves have been brilliant but both struggled today

John had his worse game since he got here

Williams early booking meant he was on edge. Lee see John.

Dapo started well but seemed to lose it after his miss. Isgrove after 3-4 good games did very little.

Doyle missed when you assumed he would score. The subs did not work.

But we are 3rd, win our games we go up. Today was fucking awful, but we go again Tuesday. I would start the same team and let those players get us back on track.

Today's game was reminiscent of early season when Santons & Baptiste couldn't cope with two big physical strikers, but Gilks performed better than Crellin to keep the score down.

We don't score enough goals, because we don't create enough chances and we waste most of the ones we create.
We're poor at free kicks, corners and throw ins.
We're generally weak in the air full stop.

BUT... when I got up this morning we were third with our season in our own hands.
When I go to bed later, that will still be the case.

We can't moan because today's results pretty much all went against us, we've had the rub of the results the last few weeks, so it's swings and roundabouts.

We're still third, we still control our own fate  and it's still ours to lose.

A collective bad day all round bar GT and possibly Gilks, might be good for them all to get it out of their system.

We play better against the "better" teams, so bring on Exeter and Morecambe and it might be more of a whisper than a roar tonight, but the Whites are going up.

I agree on not making major changes Cambridge and in fairness we don’t really have many options where we need change anyway. If Sarcevic was fit he’d certainly make a better No10 than Lee, who personally I feel is better in midfield next to Williams, who looks steadier with him there but that would mean leaving George out and he’s been our best performer. It’s up front and wide we’re struggling and have all season to be fair. Whatever we do we have to start scoring so with Doyle struggling, maybe we need to either play Miller instead, or play them both leaving Dapo out because he’s been poor recently. Declan John was signed as a wing back so maybe he could do the left side work.

if we’re absolutely honest, we’ve struggled for goals all season and have got where we are with some quite fortunate results but then so I suppose have others throughout a full season. We’ve got four games left and after yesterday we need to win at least three and to do that we have to score so we need to put all our preparation into that, including set pieces from which were awful. We’re a work in progress, we must remember that and I’m sure IE knows better than any of us where our weaknesses are but we can’t do much about it until the summer, so we have to find a way to do it with what we’ve got. Over to IE!!
