If they think they would increase revenue they are under-estimating just how much fans value the context and history. That includes fans of the clubs involved. Very typical of the greed to be found in boardrooms at Old Trafford and Anfield. Looking after you club's interests is fine. These games need atmosphere and whilst there may be millions around the world willing to pay to watch, it’ll soon lose appeal with empty stadia. They will forget their local fanbases, this is about global betting and tv rights, Liverpool v Barca will be played at the White Sox stadium and so on.
