Aye, 2 or 3 thousand i'd guess, the car park opposite the ground was heaving with our coaches . It kicked off in the pub/club next to the ground pre match & the taffys came unstuck against Warby's types & there was a steady number of bricks flying to & fro during the game......there was a bit of trouble at Cardiff at the "league liner" game as well. We had it 3 times, Bournemouth, Cardiff & Portsmouth. It was packed out for Bournemouth but not many went on the other 2. It was a nice idea but seemed to have been designed by non football fans who would civilise us rough types, but largely meant fans were paying extra for stuff we didn't want.......the"disco carriage" with fake grafitti was especially crap & soon got damaged. Also, the "league review" which was in most programmes announced which games it was going to which could mean a reception committee. Pompey put quite a few of the windows in when we went there. Ha ha, it wasn't like that when we had it & i doubt they'd have used film of our trips to push the league liner. For Bournemouth when we filled it, there were people carrying their own bodyweight in cans onto the train at Trinity St,- i think those big party cans were popular at the time - which resulted in much drunkeness, throwing up, bad language & brawling........or film of at Portsmouth where we were having to dive under the tables to avoid the glass from the bricks coming through the windows . I think the little cO2 canisters for the tap cost more than the ale as more often than not the tap would be discarded and my old man would bring out his trusty flathead screwdriver and ball-peen hammer. All the hospital staff go for cigs at one end and kids burn wheely bins and drink vodka at the other.
