I bought my girlfriend a copy of a Bros record for her 13th birthday which I assumed would guarantee me a maul of her tits (it’s ok, I was 13 too).

It didn’t. In fact, I think I barely got may hand inside her jumper.

Is this what you oldies did back in the day to try and cop a feel?

To cop a feel in my youth was being invited going babysitting when your 14 with the most randy wench on your council estate.

Mine, appropriately enough was Glory Box by Portishead.

Kent had more to do with me getting my leg over that night as he'd left a massive spilff at our mate's house, which I subsequently pilfered and.... actually sounds a bit rapey when you type it out like that.

It was obviously all down to the soothing Bristol trip hopidy beats.

I don't think I ever bought a girl a single but def did mix tapes

I do recall my mate getting Sweets For My Sweet by CJ Lewis, but we nicked it from Our Price in town (or whatever was near those elephants around 94)

As of next week me and the missus have been together 19 years, we still have some of the mix-CD's we made each other way back when. Never did get her to like Manowar.

This was 'our song' in our emo yoof

Still on my iTunes. Was played non stop on Kerrang back in the day. Decent song

I was always of the opinion metal would never die, but I didn't realise fully how touch and go it was around the turn of the century...

Some absolute dross knocking about, Kerrang! was always Smash Hit-sy but they should be ashamed. All those New Kids on the Block with guitars bands and names like 'Standing Edge Black Lake' should be swept into oblivion.

Reprieve 'Bat Out of Hell' Barrabas style if necessary.

Awful, awful shite.

That's twice in as many weeks that Bat out of Hell has been shone in a positive light on here.

It needs to stop.

I can feel the bile rising just thinking about it.
