It is a very interesting read for sure. Not sure that it is completely unbiased but good to digest

Yes, seen quite a few pieces like that from both the Arab side and Palestinians. Even if Israel didn't exist, we all know there would never be peace in the Middle East.

Never has been and never will be, but folk need to open their eyes and see the bigger picture.

But it already did.  Happen that is.

If you're Palestinian, you've seen what was your homeland reduced to 2 small sections and continue to be reduced in size.  At the same time, you've seen new estates built on land that your family owned, built in breach of UN regulations and which deny running water to your home at the same time as dumping their raw sewage on you.

Who, in that situation whether Palestinians, Irish Catholics, Native Americans, black South Africans etc would meekly accept it? Would you?

It doesn't excuse Arabs chucking rockets at Israel and it certainly doesn't excuse Israel for levelling buildings and killing increasing numbers of children but its a little more complex than 'Hamas started it' and you know this.

I dont think he does. :)

I’m talking about chucking rockets, Israel does not start it, Hamas chucking rockets ain’t working, perhaps they should try another tack, engage support from the western world,  denounce violence and seek a negotiated settlement, sadly they wont do that as they have in their constitution the extermination of Israel as a main aim. Sadly they won’t do that and they’ll just just continue to get their arses kicked.

They aren't displacing people though in N Cyprus.

They did at the time of the Turkish invasion in the 70s, effectively segregating themselves really. Greek Cypriots fled south and Turkish Cypriots moved north. Every couple of years there is a bit of a kick off from Greek Cypriots who still own houses and land in the north that Turkish Cypriots moved in to. I suppose the difference would be that the Turks haven’t attempted to extend ‘their’ territory since.

That’s because south Cyprus haven’t continued to bomb northern Cyprus, israel snatch territory mainly to protect themselves from Hamas rockets.

Peace very nearly happened a good few years back, unfortunately the right wing of Israel killed their prime minister for attempting so.

Or is that because Northern Cyprus haven’t tried to continually expand their territory? Bit of an uneasy truce and indeed not even legal in a lot of senses, but peaceful all the same.

For what it’s worth I rarely dip my toe in to these waters, but you’d have to hope that sooner or later they’re going to get bored of trying to kill each other and actually try and sort the whole thing once and for all. Naive, I know, but can all live in hope.

They snatched territory well before Hamas. They have also killed British servicemen in their haste, you need to read up on your history.

Peace will never happen especially when Hamas say Israel has no right to exist.

Regardless of history the Hamas policy of bombing Israel isn’t working firstly it provokes retaliation from Israel and that leads to more innocent Palestinians killed and secondly it means Israel grab more land to protect their people, diplomacy is the best way to try to end this.

Yes, I know that obviously, but what I'm saying as you know is that peace won't happen especially when Hamas have their stance. I'm talking here and now re Hamas not the past which you are referring to and I agreed with.

A mate of mine reckons that for us lot watching from afar, it boils down to whether you hate Muslims or Jews the most.

Then you pick a side.

My mate reckons that because we have loads more Muslims here and they aren’t universally popular, and that Jews are a decent lot that keep themselves to themselves, that Israel gets decent levels of support.

My mate reckons this is all pretty amusing, though acknowledges loads of folk are dying over a couple of fairytales and some ancient buildings which is silly, really.

My mate, in case you’re wondering, is very very handsome.
