Different I reckon. An nhs check up is around 20 quid. That would mean the actual cost is mahoosive. May be different when more expansive treatment is needed I suppose, not so sure. Depending upon certain rules, folk obviously qualify for free dental services. Certainly a discussion to be had over whether dentistry should be wholly under the nhs, though again, its back down to money.

We don’t pay for check ups and I’ve just had a root canal done for 90quid which I’m guessing is cheap

Higher rate tax payers do by 1% but apparently low end of the scale pay slightly less I’m sure I read somewhere. But I think overall we get a great deal

Should have been around 60 quid. Don't know why- was wondering if it's something they're doing temporarily until the backlog of covid knackered teeth has been resolved? Blondi
Pulling your own tooth out? Fook that! I had an infected tooth a while back, ended up having the tooth taken out by a specialist dentist, that took about 45 mins to pull out. I ended up having to have surgery because of the infected tooth that had caused 3 out of my 4 sinuses to be blocked, took my sinuses about 12 months to get back to normal after the operation. I'm paying privately from now on, a tenner a month and a dental hygienest included too.

Mine was- it had a curved root, too close to a nerve for comfort, so this dude did some sort of dental martial art, and extracted it with a sort of curved motion perpendicular to the gum. Are you sure yours wasn't an oak tree?

jayjayoghani
Australia and NZ both have universal health care but neither cover dental treatment. Unless unemployed or under 16 etc.

Specialist did mine in around 45 seconds! I had a molar removed about three months ago, I had to go to a specialist Dentist though as it had broken beneath the gun line, so they had to slice the gum, even then it splintered/fractured when he was trying to yank it. Took about 45 minutes from start to finish, as he had to fish out loads of little bits of tooth. It took a good six or seven weeks to heal. It's didn't hurt at all, but it was bloody uncomfortable and not a pleasant experience at all. For some reason I didn't get charged for it....yet I'm back to my normal dentist this afternoon for a normal check up though, so may get the bill then I suppose. DazBob
Has anyone, in real life, ever tied some cotton around it and the other end to a door handle and then slammed the door to pull a tooth out? I've never understood how this would be possible as surely your teeth are too close together to be able to do it.
