Former player and manager, Sam Allardyce was a big strong defender with no frills.

 

He was sold to Sunderland for 150,000 but failed to establish himself and was transfered to division 3 outfit Millwall the season after for 95,000.

 

He went to the States to play in the NASL followed with spells at Coventry, Huddersfield back at Bolton then onto Preston where he teamed up with former player Mick Bennett.
