First match for me was in 66. Last match of the season. 1-1 draw against Norwich. Stood on the Embankment as a wide eyed 11 year old with a couple of mates from L/H. It was a boring end of season match but it was the humour of the fans that grabbed me and hasn’t released its grip since. A bloke at the side of us, obviously bored, shouted as we took a corner. “Come on Fred, (Hill) give us a laugh, kick the corner flag” Appreciating our laughter, he said “you have to laugh cocker” No one ever said that in L/H. I was hooked there and then. Tomorrow could be another notch on the up and down experience of being a Wanderers fan. No idea about stats but has any other team experienced the same? Being a Wanderer is a privilege. I may even turn up on that grassy bank tomorrow and think of Freddie Hill. Also known as God.3 likes

You know we are cut from the same cloth. My dad was too caught up in the fear of hooliganism and wouldn't take me to the match... Hence I was chosen to go to Burnden rather than OT. I had so many craics with my mates over the years, the first being on the pitch against Preston. I think I was 13. In terms of ups and downs, I think it's 7/6 positive, but I have been drinking for a long long time. I was very keen not to make the same mistake as my dad, so my lads first match was just before his 2nd birthday. Luckily we beat Stoke 5-0. He has endured 80% shite since then, but he still has the buzz. He was in the pitch 4 years ago today, and whilst we can't do that tomorrow, we'll be there just in case something memorable does happen. Times like this are in short supply, make memories whilst you can... If it goes tits up, you'll still remember the moment, those you're with, and what you mean to each other. I'll be going for a beer or two, summat to eat, and watch on my phone... Any party will organic COYWM1 like

I always loved Burnden, it's where I grew up watching Bolton. I didn't think I had the same connection with the Reebok but turning up for my jab last week gave me goosebumps after so long away. The last few years, I've stayed in pubs instead of going to games, spent entire halves underneath the stands because I've had no connection with the players. The pride is back. I can't wait to be back either1 like

4-4 is good, we can still go past Cambridge tomorrow, but it takes one option out for both Morecambe and Tranmere, hopefully de-motivating them in case we screw up.1 like

I am but it doesn't mean I'm wrong. It might mean someone should take control of my online betting accounts temporarily though.1 like

That’s it, right there. As a fan, we put up with all sorts of football. Good, bad and utter shite but the overriding reason for any fan is being there. That’s all that matters to me and most other fans. Television or whatever is a poor substitution for actually being there.1 like

We have two chances to get the win we need. That’s assuming we need a win. We don’t do stuff easy it’s what we do. But we’ve proven we are better than the majority of teams in this league. we will Be fine. We will win tomorrow. It will be nervy no doubt. But let’s enjoy it. 4 months ago we were fearing the worst.1 like

Mu dad wouldn't take me until I started high school, he relented a bit and took me towards the end of the 68/69 season as I was ready to leave junior school1 like

About the same here, my Dad wouldn't take me until I was 10 (1966) because I wouldn't understand it. I think the match was against Cardiff. I was more taken about the people and surroundings around me and being "grown up"1 like

That was the first full season I started watching Good Knee, so I was beginning to think I might be a bit of a Jonah? Been there for every good and bad one since though, through all the pain and ecstasy, which is what being a Wanderers fan is all about and I’m about to witness the start of our next coming tomorrow, when we see off the Grecians. 🥳1 like

Getting back to the promotion and relegations , if you're if a certain vintage like meself then the only one I wasn't at was our first fall from the top division in 1964. Was only 7 but been there for all the rest and I think I'll be there on the grass in the rain tomorrow Mr Hugespunkbubble.1 like

Nah, prefer 2-0 by half time, preferably a man sent off for them , their keeper injured with no one on bench, cruise to a 5-0 win. However I think a tight affair decided by 1 goal is reality1 like
