  1. The club sent him a card signed by the first team saying they are thinking of him, after I contacted them a few weeks ago.

  2. Some performance that, away at last year’s play off finalists and looked comfortable throughout. First half I thought we were pretty average, off the ball we were doing the right things, but we were sloppy on the ball and so invited too much unnecessary pressure. Second half though was as good as I’ve seen us play, live, for years and years. Everyone knew their job, passing was more crisp, we hunted in packs and Lincoln couldn’t live with it. There was a good 15 minute spell where it was sustained pressure and when Lincoln did get the ball we turned it over within seconds and built again. Everyone had a good game but I would say MJ was the standout for me (as others have pointed out) - he is very very good and seems to fit perfectly with Evatt’s style of play. I think the biggest compliment for him is that he is now playing as the sole DM in that midfield 3, with Sheehan higher up and closer to Sarce - whereas last year Lee would play alongside him and share the duties. No surprise that Jones looked a million times better when Baka went off for Isgrove either. Baka is class and will be a big player for us this year, but just at the moment he leaves Jones very exposed down that side, whereas Isgrove’s workrate going backwards worked far better. It was class to be in an away end again, class to celebrate a late winning goal in an away end and class to see the players experiencing a Bolton away following after a win at the end.

  3. The first win of any league season always feels significant but this feels extra special. If you think about it we've had shocking starts to just about every season over the last decade other than the promotion season under Parkinson and what we all knew was a brief false dawn of three games unbeaten at the start of Parky's second championship season (starting with that win at WBA). That constant flow of 0-1 away wins last year was nerve-shredding but the mark of a side with a real work ethic as a foundation to all other skills. Those wins changed the losing culture at the club. To chalk up another of them against the side who finished 5th last year at this higher level is very eye-catching. Hopefully we don't get an "After the Lord Mayor's show" performance against Oxford on Saturday. I don't think IE will allow that to happen. ... and one other quick thing, three of last night's back four (Gordon, Santos, Jones) were from that batch of much maligned Summer 2020 signings. Who'd have thought it after all we went through in the first half of last season.

  4. Thank god someone else said it. Football fans eh ? All these lads with a compass on their tops and they can only find their way to 'spoons. https://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-two/abbey-stadium-cambridge-united.html In this link near bottom some bloke has given details of a walk from station to ground with pub stops along the way. (Even throws in a chippy) @CambridgeBWFC what is the Devonshire Arms like ?

  5. Late to this. So sad to hear about happy and hope hes battling as well as he can. Said it before but there cant be many other football forums as strong as this one, with as much history and a hell of lot good stuff come from the place, friendships, charities and the likes. Fair play for keeping it all going Neil.

  8. I realise some of you may have zero interest in this which is fair enough but from time to time I like to have a snoop on OppositionWays out of curiosity. Thought it was worth compiling some together which I'll do in this thread whenever I get chance. Seems like Lincoln have some pretty level headed fans but then one or two absolutely bitter fuckers. Pick of the bunch includes: THE BITTER THE PRAISE Taken from https://forums.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/match-thread-lincoln-city-v-bolton-wanderers.117675/page-25

  10. This story falls at 3 Wigan fans working together. Even in a Wigan area I find that hard to believe ha

  13. I’m the same. Joined in 2006 as a 15 year old - I’ve now been coming on here for more of my life than I haven’t. Can you imagine if there was something that told you how long you’d spent on the site over the years (please don’t tell me there is one)!? Anyway, all the best to Happy Wanderer - it’s great to see the site get behind such a good cause.

  14. Don’t think so but, as they weren’t those horrible textured crap things dished up at t’Reebok, they really didn’t need it.

  15. It's easy to spot Brits driving in America. They're the ones sat waiting at a red light, indicating to turn right, with everyone beeping behind them.

  16. I love that smug feeling the morning after an away victory, mmmmm niiiiice. Apologies to Mamma Cass - "And it's getting better, Growing stronger, We're Bolton Wanderers, Getting better every day ( Clap clap clap) Better every day." Repeat till "We are the one and only Wanderers" inevitably starts

  18. Cambridge is an arse for cars generally, I would try and use one of the park and rides off the A14, best one for the ground is the Newmarket road one as the busses should go passed or close to the ground for this or you could walk it. The other one you could use is the Milton P&R, but busses only go into central Cambridge so after the game you would be best grabbing an UBER back. Parking is free at these and you pay for the bus which is about £3pp. Both are convenient to get back on the A14 leaving Cambridge

  21. Now that is a fantastic result and I wasn't expecting it. If we're capable of that type of result against a play off side from last year then this is going to be an interesting season.

  23. Fucking conspiracy cranks. As loopy as the Flat Earth imbeciles. No surprise to me that some of our resident zoons buy into it for provocation reasons or are simply attention seeking because they have the 'look, I'm different' gene. I was just discussing the moon landings conspiracy with Mr. Presley this morning when he handed my tea to me over the counter at the 7-11. Just ignore the fuckers and they might go away

  24. We all ganged up and bitchslapped Sir Nat's Dog then Carlos chucked him out. Bolty's back. Miami is awol. Eammon Holmes has been unmasked as the monster he is. When he is discovered to be a Savile of animals we can hold our heads up knowing we did our best. And we've played a few matches. Bwfc that is. Everyone on here is now too decrepit for us to even muster up a team to play a 10 minute half five a side.
