  1. Thirteen thousand. Thirteen fucking thousand. Let that sink in. Incredible support again. Can't begin to fathom how moved Gethin & his family must be. The Bolton family is alive & well.

  2. Got there for the second half the vibe around the stadium was tangible, the love for the club radiated off the pitch onto the terraces and reflected back in equal measure, I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye for the whole of the second half, so glad my lad was sat with me and experienced the love & positivity from all there, went for a beer after and an hour after the game ended we headed back to the car parked behind the south stand and there was still 200 plus fans waiting for the legends to come out of the hotel, luckily I got to see JJ and Jussi, they were fantastic with the fans posing for pictures and signing autographs, watched on for 20 minutes and no request was turned down, JJ was still mobbed as I drove of the car park… utterly wonderful occasion….. what a special football club is BWFC.

  4. I thought about Speed today... You know he'd still be in peak condition and bossing it if he was involved.

  7. Well what a day! Tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat throughout that thoroughly enjoyable experience. First of all so pleased for Gethin, his mum and the charity, he and his team mates have seen what this club is all about. Not far behind in the emotion stakes is the combination of seeing all those legends and how much affection they still have for the club and seeing our young team experience what it means to play for our special and unique football club. Maybe we are biased and I’m seeing this through rose tinted specs, but other than a few top clubs would you get that reaction anywhere else? Certainly none of our local lancashire or NW rivals would pull something like that off. Those players are true BWFC legends, all of them are famous Premier league footballers because of what they did for Bolton Wanderers. The affection we have for the club is shared by them. And after a few turbulent weeks with results, Sarcevic and membership debacles something like this dwarves all of that. If IE, Santos and the boys were in any doubt before this weekend what this family club means to the fans, the town and the community, well they’ll certainly know now. Lets hope they can use this to inspire them to greater things. Very proud of our great club COYWM 👏

  8. Superb, Jnr was really happy to see "all the old guys you keep banging on about" She loves Ivan Campo, but hey, who doesn't?

  9. My lad said to me after that he’s not seen me that happy for years. Said I’ve had a grin on my chops this afternoon that made me look like a teenager. He’s right too.

  10. You didn’t. I was in a bit of a rush to get across to Bolton for the game. Hadn’t realised how badly it read. Anyway as I was sat in The Harvester showing my mate the problem it worked and I bought a ticket for Donny

  14. I've just remembered. Talking about tinpot no-marks, as I was sitting on Asda car park car waiting for the traffic to clear three kids were ballooning about Wiggin going up. I just smiled, I thought you'll never have what we've got, never. Not after today.

  15. I think you can if you over achieve for example if a team with no money and free transfers won back to back promotions and may be went to old Trafford in the cup after beating Stockport and Rotherham and beat them they would in my book 😂 The game is obviously about levels but we all think more about say a super John and Andy Walker than a elmander or a ngog that were big money signings

  17. So did I, and Happy Wanderer actually, plus all those who idolised these players who are no longer with us. They were all part of some of the greatest days.

  18. Possibly not, but McGinlay, Walker, Branagan, Kelly, McAteer, Lee, Brownie arguably got to a certain level of legendary status even without the couple of years at 2nd tier level. But that crop under Big Sam was unique, let's face it, its never going to happen again. And as said above by Desperado many of these legends achieved their status playing for us. Eg Jussi, Campo, Okocha, Gardner, Bergsson, Pederson, SKD, Nolan, McGinlay, Lee. Other "greats" were already top players (Anelka, Djorkaeff, Hierro, Speed, Klasnic etc). Getting emotional again.

  19. My eyes are playing up again just reading this thread. My lad keeps asking if Campo was that good when he played for real. I’m just so fckin chuffed he got the chance to see that stellar line up play on our pitch today. I half expected it to be a bit of a damp squib. In the end, it may be the highlight of the season. Proper buzzing still. And I’m a miserable cunt, so that’s some going.

  21. I'd +1 if I could but already spaffed my quota for the day elsewhere in the thread. Everything about today just makes you massively proud, of the club, the people associated with it and the fans that follow it. Makes you wanna go out and tell people you're a Bolton fan, and feel sorry for those that aren't. By the way, that photo of Davies and Campo embracing is one of my favourite Wanderers photos of all time, up there with Lofthouse drinking from the cup and Speed walking into battle in that Belgrade tunnel. Iconic.

  22. Don’t normally do testimonials friendlies etc.Last minute decision to take my grandson .Glad I went ,my grandson is really on board now , any doubts about his football loyalties absolutely nailed. As others have stated quite emotional & combined with such a good cause it’s heartening to be involved , credit to the players who travelled long distance .We finally got to say our farewells to Campo in particular.

  23. Yes. Have a family member who has been diagnosed this year and from new year to now the progression is frightening. Anyway I love that this afternoon. Just got home now after sinking a few pints at Lucianos after the game. I'm still wounded I couldn't get a bet on 7-4....🤣

  24. Loved every minute of it, belting day for a great cause. As others have said, one of the best things was to see my 10 year old nephew seeing mine and his dad's reaction to our heroes. Think I've said on here before that I don't contribute much to the football threads as I'm not the most knowledgeable football fan, just love watching our team and love our club. Days like today are the reason why.

  29. So emotional today from the moment the legends came out to warm up , to Karen and gethin being introduced to the crowd. Like being transported back to the big Sam glory years, campo looked like he’d never been away. Still buzzing what a day.

  30. Obviously things can be more complicated than we may sometimes think but a DVD of this match, the pre-game and post game stuff, interviews etc. would rake in a good bit more too. It may ready be thought of but, just in case, if anyone has an in at the Wanderers to suggest this it would be worthwhile.

  34. One of the best days ever at that stadium imo. Just to see Okocha and McGinlay score for one very last time. Campo was sublime, amongst the oldies still got it were Stelios, David Lee, Ricky Gardner, Eagles…and Ian Evatt. 13k for a Charity match?, Pie eaters would have been lucky to break 3k, the tinpot tossers.
