As I sit here, nice and cosy in my home office, more comfortable than any previous generations of my family, it doesn't feel like anything went pear shaped. My biggest concern is when do my pensions grow enough for me to retire.
Here's when it went wrong, an example. My grandad was held prisoner by the Japanese for 4 years, to say he didn't like them was an understatement. By the 70s, he was throwing money at them buying their tech, Hitachi tape player, Sony colour TV, Nikon camera etc. Because what were we building? Amstrad? British Leyland cars that rotted away in a couple of years? We got left behind, focusing on shite like coal mining. But yes, blame the EU and immigration, like an Aldi Nigel Farage.
