  1. Bit of a tale about Today which I think is well worth relaying.. my old man’s bday on NYD which was a milestone birthday for him so decided to take him in to the LoV today. A couple of weeks ago off the cuff I decided to email Sharon (or what I assumed was her email address) explaining he was a lifelong ST holder etc etc and anything she could do / any time spent with him would make his day. A couple of weeks went by with nothing. Eventually this week received an email from someone else at the club stating Sharon had received and read the email and to arrange a meet with her this afternoon. so took the old man down to reception at 2:30 to meet the girl who emailed me as requested. Took us up to the chairman’s suite and we were stood outside for a while him still unsure as to what the hell was going on. Eventually Sharon comes out and apologises as she “couldn’t get away from sir Alex” and welcomed us both as though she’d known us for years. Bit of a chat ensued and he’s bowled over that she’s made the effort. He then apologises and says we have to make our way back round to the LoV to see the KO. Instantly she says No! “ I’ll find you seats in the exec box with me” shouts her laccy over and pretty much says they’re friends of mine, find them some seats to watch the match in the box. At HT come in to the chairman’s suite and we will have a brew. So ended up spending the whole game in her (distant) company, made us feel so welcome. Had more than enough time for us. it may have meant nothing to her in the grand scheme of things but will last my old man a lifetime. The woman is absolute class from top to bottom and I can’t imagine our club in better, more thoughtful or considerate hands.

  2. Bring it on. They can crawl back under the stone from which they emerged in 1978. They remain in the same bracket as some of the other ex non-league non entities knocking about the football league in the modern day. They claim their gates have burgeoned, but we're talking 2,500 to only 9,000 home fans for a side with a recent Prem stretch and an FA Cup win. Even that'll evaporate when the rot sets in. Their ascent was all built on one man's money. They've had a charmed life and it can't go on. When it all crumbles there will be withering scorn from Bolton that will not relent. The natural order will be restored. Here endeth the lesson.

  3. Moneyball! Buy and sell at the right time and bollocks to sentiment. Dont think weve let a player go yet whos gone on to prove us wrong. (In the FV era) We will start making money soon enough.

  5. More likely few minutes left leave 2 back than EK ability… his goal scoring and assist record speaks for Itself.

  7. Well if other managers rate him, I hope one of them takes him off our hands. Folk are deluded if they think he’s good enough to play for a team that wants to get promoted.

  8. I too didn't understand the criticism of Kachunga today. The 4 involvements I recall were winning the ball on the left wing to feed Beck, who set him up for a shot that hit the post (nearer than anyone else came apart from our 1 shot on target from 8 yards), an incisive pass to put Baka through, and when he took the ball with back to goal and was man handled and wrestled by the defender, with the ref unbelievably not giving a free kick, in injury time. Did OK today.

  10. I take it as a compliment that so many teams are coming here to shithouse their way through a game and hope to take a point. If someone was brave enough to go toe to toe with us, chances are they’d get mullered.

  11. That caller was hilarious. Get McGinlay in for 2 hours and our striking problems are over, if only IE had thought about coaching the strikers. Get Per Frandsen in while we're at it and the midfielders will be firing them in from all angles.

  12. Honestly the woman is utter class. The effort she made, to acknowledge us by name and hug him and wish him happy birthday was absolutely priceless. actions speak louder then words in my eyes and I know the club has spoken so much about reconnecting with fans and the community etc and it is things just like this that make us believe it is true

  14. Agreed…. Morley also imperious. Big move for Toal at some stage, potentially one of the best I’ve seen for a long time for us. 👍

  15. Best performance of the season, out standing all over the pitch. Our energy was top draw, Morley back to his best, lee, toal, aimson, hard to choose man of the match from 1 to 11 they were all at the top of there game. Be difficult to keep that level of performance up for the rest of the season but if we can then who knows where it will take us, still buzzing.

  17. Not too bad from where I was sat.. Like the back three, and like the midfield three. Solid. Think Lee didn't have his greatest game ever, by his standards. Did enough to win, almost lost it. One of them innit. Thought Randell did ok , must be rusty. Hard to pick a MOM, would be one of the three centre backs for us. Thought their number 6 was a good un. think we're looking up and not down for what it's worth. Won't bash Plymouth, think they'll see that as a decent point on the day.

  19. Agree with that TMGJ, we look like we’ve got our confidence back and back ourselves to dominate games. There are a few reasons why but I genuinely think Morley coming back into the team and absolutely controlling things has had a huge impact. If the goals start flowing then we’ll be difficult to stop.

  20. For me, we've started to move up a gear. Obviously need to convert chances, but if we keep up the performance levels, something very positive could still happen. Probably won't because the top three are quite a way off, but if we can secure a play off place and be in form then who knows. Get the ins and outs done and dusted and stay positive.

  21. Missed opportunity. We can’t keep winning games in the last couple of minutes though. Defence is looking more solid but we’ve got to start converting these draws into wins. Very frustrating.

  23. Spoons, is like a social club these days. A student type came in a few weeks ago, perched on the same table as me and Mrs.F and plugged his phone and laptop in and started charging them up. Then he disappears for ten mins with a cheery 'watch my stuff mate'. He eventually comes back with a never ending coffee. Apart from taking a picture of my knob on his phone, and ringing our Loft in Israel, no harm done.

  24. Think people know I always try to look on the bright side, be positive, back the manager, having a realistic perspective that he generally gets things right and knows a hell of a lot more about the game than I do. Football is about opinions, so here’s my positive take on the various options at LWB. If he chooses one of these it will be a positive move based on their strengths, not because one of them is shit and needs leaving out. Of course he might not get it right. But when the team sheet arrives, an understanding of why he has picked them would be nice rather than questioning him because you think you’re opinion is superior. Beck - knows the role, young talent, quick, skilful will want to prove a point with a new signing waiting in the wings Jones- Experienced, vice-captain, versatile, intelligent, can defend and links forward play up nicely Sadlier - attacking threat, great crosser and finisher, he’s payed here before. John - Out in the cold, but can perform on his day Williams - Busting to make his debut and show he’s the real deal straight from the off. Johnstone - best left side defender we have

  34. There is no pressure more intense than the pressure we put on ourselves. Look out for yourself first, it’s the only way to be useful to those closest to you. Bit like on a plane when they tell you to put your own oxygen mask on first. Same applies with your bonce. It’s not selfish, it just good drills. Xx
