  1. This is it for me, a few weeks ago I dreaded the thought of the play-offs as felt collectively we were weak and would struggle with potentially 3 big high pressure games. Thankfully so did IE and seems to have addressed it. So is a tall ask to go up automatically but if we don't, I just want us to be resilient, nasty and hard to beat for the rest of the season. If so, I will go into the play-offs in a far better frame of mind than I would have been otherwise!!

  4. He slows it down cos hes good enough to do so Ive never ever called aimson but he was a stopper No more, no less Evatt wants santos to keep the ball to draw the other lot out Then he plays it If you cant see this, no problem, but youre missing a massive part of our plan

  5. Match: 2nd half They had a proper takeover Post Match: You think Bolton are only the 6th best team in this division? Had a bit of free time so thought I'd bring this thread back with a curated set of comments. Enjoy the Charlton fans giving us a bit of fellatio.

  6. Got that right. Todays big lads start crying when footballers kneel down for 3 seconds. We’ve never been softer.

  12. A team is round the corner fixing it apparently. It's weird, because the dogs have immediately gone all quiet and dozy. The lights going off usually signal bedtime so they've switched into bedtime mode.

  13. Just keep winning our home games. Pick up the odd win and draw here and there away, we'll get play offs. Start winning a few more away and who knows

  16. Fuck the magic of the cup. Bankrolled clubs are a cancer to lower league football, so I'm supporting Sheffield United here

  18. That's exactly what I'd expect from a Moneyball approach and which has to be the sensible way forward in our position even though it has it's flaws as the Oakland Athletics eventually found out, but for us fans it gives us the reassurance that the club isn't going to piss away money we haven't got on reputations and bad deals. When someone like Williams comes into the club and doesn't perform great for the first few games it doesn't necessarily mean we've been sold a pup because statistically he should produce the goods sooner or later as he obviously has done in the past and although rigorous analysis doesn't guarantee anything, it at least means the club has done everything it can to minimise the risk. Sure we have to gamble a bit to progress but providing Evatt and Markham don't stretch it beyond their own parameters they are giving us the best opportunity within our budget. We just have to hope that the numbers don't lie

  19. Not half. The rake down the achilles was a shocker and he knew it. Virtually saying to his team mate that he thought he might be off. Justice was done however.

  21. Brighton v Liverpool. Scouse Shite are lucky not to be down to 9 players. We'll, I say "lucky", what I mean is 'typical big club bias'. Out of class, out of ideas. A team on the slide. Long may it continue. Liverpool now out. Good.

  24. Oh his team selections though like anyone they’re great if we win and wrong if he don’t. We’ve had a couple of managers (freedman in particular) who seemed to change for a very different reason. Evatt looks at the defensive side and maybe only changes 1 wing back. The majority of his changes are forward thinking and how we can hurt others. Freedman was all about changing to stop the opposition first and foremost. “Controlling the game without the ball” Evatt thankfully is the polar opposite. We all want to go to a game thinking “we have a chance today” that has been far from the case in the past regardless of the level we’ve been at and that’s due to how the manager at the time has approached the game

  25. The blokes destined for the very top. Him and his team eye for recruitment is nothing short of incredible. That includes not just players coming in, but more importantly players going. Players that have done their job but arent at the level we need to be, might seem unpopular to shed but off they go and better replacements come in. Clubs want that model more than anything nowadays. Hes not without fault. Nobody is. His team selections are questionable sometimes but which managers arent. On the whole his tenure has been unbelievable. Only a few weeks ago folk were calling him Phil Neale and some saying hed run his course. He hadnt, hed just reached the limit with that particular crop of players. Now income the new ones and goodbye to the old ones who were performing they way he was asking. That's how he works.

  26. Certainly did, except for the trains from Cambridge being on rail replacement so having to go via Peterborough, then getting stuck in traffic on the bus from North Greenwich and getting to the ground 15 minutes after KO, missing Morley's stunner. But caught up with a few off here and went for a few drinks in London Bridge after the game.

  27. When we were last in this league under Parky I was quite vocal on the turgid football we were subjected to every week. The general consensus, including a large few on here was, they’re league 1 players, That’s all they’re good for, it’s the best we can expect etc etc. Evatt has proven the difference between a manager and a coach. I would say the vast majority of players he has had whether they have remained with him or not have gone on to be better players. He got a lot of plaudits for the way he got barrow in to the league so I knew we were on to a winner when he came in. You could see what he was trying to do immediately. Yes it hasn’t always worked and the recruitment initially was questionable but that’s where we were. Since the Jan of L2 there’s been a plan, a profile and method to what he’s wanted to bring in. He’s showing players at any level can be made better and they aren’t just cloggers. more than that though, overall he conducts himself very well, he recognises the importance of the club to the fans and community, says the right things and I wouldn’t want anyone else carrying us forward currently

  30. The way we are playing is phenomenal, a style of play that has the foundation for us to really kick on. Us football fans are a fickle bunch and when we are at home and it's 0-0 against Burton Albion for example and we play around at the back, our fans do love to moan and chuck in the "hoof it!" But this style works and has taken time. Today we an example of all the hard work Evatt and his team have put in coaching this squad. The board also have to take just as much praise for sticking with Evatt during tough times and supporting him. The longer Evatt gets to work the the squad the better we will be. We aren't a finished article yet, but we are getting closer.
