  1. Too negative?! We had 24 shots away at Charlton last week in the same shape. Plymouth scored 4 and Derby scored 3 playing 3/5 at the back. Every team in the top 6 plays 3/5 at the back so that isn’t an argument. Didn’t all 3 teams promoted last season play 3/5 at the back?… Sunderland didn’t before they sacked Johnson but did when Neill came in … they switched. We have the 3rd best defence in the league and the 5th/6th best in the EFL. Goals win games … defences win promotions. Cheltenham’s tactics are exactly what knocked us off our game and why we struggle against those types of teams. The low block and disrupting our momentum at every opportunity. It is very difficult to play at any tempo when they take a minute for every goal kick, throw in etc then sit with 10 behind the ball. It is one our biggest weaknesses and we usually don’t score early enough to draw those types of teams out. That being said whilst we weren’t at our best yesterday we still had chances with the ball across the box 2/3 times, Dion had a few… we just need to take those chances. We also kept our 8th clean sheet in a row at home….

  2. Surprising amount of over thinking on this thread typified by the above. We played a shit house team who came to frustrate and waste and we won. Comparing back to a game a few months ago when last week we had 24 shots I think. There is a togetherness and commitment in the team shown by how despite giving a shit goal away at Charlton we just got back up and played really well. 8 clean sheets at home on the run. Just enjoy it

  3. Guess who's back... On Dan Nlundulu signing for us from them... TODAYS GAME Definitely and wouldn't be surprised to see a second yellow with this intensity on the pitch and angst from the crowd Genuine quotes from their manager... Will update if anything else crops up

  4. Tried Ewe before Christmas a few weeks after they'd opened. Food was amazing. Service was horrific but they'd only just opened and had a load of non skilled staff in and a couple of experienced managers trying to make it work. Waited nearly two hours between starter and main. Will definitely return as its a nice setting and good food.

  10. I think he was shaping up to throw his upper (right) arm at it. Something pro keepers do now with shots across them as opposed to the arm the direction the balls travelling in. In this case his left. He made a hash of it thank feck.

  13. For clarity, suggesting he let it in on purpose was in jest. I just thought he could have done a bit better, if you thought he made a great effort to save it fair enough, its OK for opinions/observations to differ.

  14. Far too soon to be thinking of playing Isgrove IMO. And sadly our usual progression with each transfer window means we’ve moved on from his sort of level, even before his injury. By default I think we’ve got to go with Jones at RWB, shift Toal to RCB (where he’s look a bit more comfortable anyway) and bring in Mbete. Anything north of 1,500 will be a very respectable following I reckon.

  15. I'm no goalkeeping expert but shouldn't he have flung out his arms to attempt to save it? Its like he was pretending to try to save it by diving but was avoiding the ball. It shows the value of just getting a shot on target, there's a decent chance the keeper's not going to save it at this level.

  16. Bradshaw. Yeah it’s decent Rokka. They have another one nearer to you in Darwen as well or they certainly did have.

  22. It's really not a choice for many, that's why these 'I know a couple' arguments are bollocks.

  23. On the other hand we have those who live at home, pay a token amount to their parents and have no other commitments unless they chose them. They expect to be able to have the latest phone, multiple holidays, expensive days and nights out, new clothes, a pay as you go Mercedes. They want all this and so they choose it over saving up. A couple I know, very well, earn 25k per year between them. They bought their own house for 110k last year. 10% deposit. 35 year mortgage. And they couldn't be happier. However, nothing was given to them. They saved up for two years to get the deposit together. But they had a second hand car between them. Didn't upgrade their basic phones. Didn't have sky TV or gym memberships or any holidays. They lived on about 15k per year. Oh and by the way they were also renting, so had a lot more to pay out than someone living at home... It can be done. It's hard. But it's also possible. And a choice.

  25. Greenwood might have had his charges dropped, so isn't seen as guilty in the eyes of the Law, but Football Clubs aren't bound by such technicalities. "Is that your voice on that rapey recording Mason?" "Yes" "There's the door then. We'd rather keep our sponsors happy thanks."

  26. Generally I agree, we are definitely moving forward. Is just these kinda games we struggle. Just frustrating the amount of times the ball gets recycled down each side and back again in these matches without us getting anywhere near goal, we have loads of opportunities to provide a conventional cross but always seem to stop and play it back?? Add that to a reluctance to shoot, but well done Dempsey!! You're right though, Evatt has realised somethings wrong and hopefully the new signings will improve matters.

  27. Someone should tell Evatt "We need to score early when we play these types of teams". Problem solved. We'd piss the League if it weren't for this tactical blind spot he's got.

  30. Late equaliser for Blackburn, which will see a moderate celebration dissipate as they realise a point is shit and they’ve only drawn against bottom of the league - pretend dingles largely left unhappy and critical as crappy draws start to accumulate dropping them into mid-table obscurity. And yet another late goal conceded by the turds which will be an extra nail in that turd laden coffin which will soon flush down into L1. 1-1 Perfect score line
