So the Gammonites have, in the end, turned out to be hypocrites. The snowflakes’ snowflake. Those years of decrying cancel culture, claiming it’s beneath them, lower than low - and here we are, their cheeks all red and flappy because a crisp salesman said he didn’t like Tories on the Twitter. Its so humiliating.4 likes

You're just making a load of stuff up to have a pop at a bloke who had a pop at a proposed policy on migrant boats. If he was having a pop at labour or something you agreed with you wouldnt be serving this amount of flannel. Total flannel that makes no sense. RW is a continuous wind up mission so he doesnt count2 likes

Where is the whataboutery? This is the second time you've said this, but I don't think I've seen a post where someone in support of Lineker has said, "Yeah, but what about..?"1 like

Nothing to do with freedom of speech. He hasn't been banned from twitter. He's been told to behave in a manner that other bbc employees/contactors have to. Fucks sake, there are hundreds of thousands of folk who are bound by conditions of employment over what they say. My wife being one of them. If she went on such a tirade, she could well be sacked, and not suspended or whatever Lineker's situation is. He can say whatever the fuck he wants- just remove himself from the bbc which has its charter and includes impartiality restrictions. Other bbc employees have also been "removed" for breaching their contract in a similar way, and lineker is no different. It's quite simple: if you don't want to be bound by such agreements, don't work for an organisation that has them. Though no doubt a few million per year might sway the moral compass.1 like

My take, Clarkson wrote an article that he got paid for, Lineker did it on his own time, if he had done it on MOTD then off with his head, but he didn't1 like

I want to trample them yet and gloat. Wigan the team don’t mean a great deal to me but them tossers who turned up at our gaff when we nearly went bust deserve to hear 5000 of us gloating in their tinpot stadium1 like

That £8 million might well be a bit of smoke and mirrors My guess having seen the accounts would be that as the cashflow has required it the Chairman has put monies in initially as a loan and then as part of the accounts tidying up they have simply converted what he has put in to date from a directors loan to equity (shares) , which wipes out his loan but does not in reality put any new cash into the bank. I might be wrong but seems a strong possibility1 like

Lineker presents football for the BBC, not politics, therefore is free to have and voice an opinion on politics, because he won't be seen as an expert and you can take or leave what he says. Likewise, I won't be hanging around for Laura Kuenssberg's discussion on 3-5-2 vs 4-4-2 with a diamond. An if you think that's a ridiculous analogy, Suella started it.1 like

He is Kosavan, they were at war and therefore a bona fide refugee... Now tell me where the current war is raging in Albania... you do see the difference don't you?1 like

If the weather down there is that bad they stay at home - dont inconvenience 16k home fans and the club who need to fit a fixture in somewhere And not sure the deaths were weather related - it was mid may so wasnt snow anyway1 like

For anyone interested here is how the Burnden disaster came to be "remembered" again It remained completely forgotten by the club until 1989 In quick succession we had experienced 3 major disasters affecting English Football in the 1980s - Bradford , Heysel and most recently Hillsborough. BWFC announced at the beginning of the 1989/90 season a series of testimonial events for Nat Lofthouse - there was a book published and a match played against Man City and various functions were organised. Shortly afterwards an article appeared in the BEN about a lady called Mrs Coward (i think that was her name - might have been Howard?) who had lost a close relative in the disaster and commenting that it was completely forgotten. ( Think the relative had been her husband or brother - again i cannot clearly remember ) Anyway a couple of us got talking and an emotive open letter was written and published in the BEN basically asking the club to justify remembering the career of a player who had devoted 50 years of his working life to the club, yet at the same time choosing to completely ignore the wishes of the likes of Mrs Coward and not in any way mark the site of the disaster at which 33 people had 40 odd years earlier lost their lives. The inference being there was money to be made out of remembering the one and nothing to be made out of the other. Things then when silent. Then I had a conversation with Gordon Sharrock , who in essence said they dont know how to reply to the letter and wont , but they admit they are embarrassed by the situation and want to do something about it - watch this space. Within a few months Mrs Coward had been contacted by the club, it was announced a plaque would be erected and she would be invited to the unveiling , which i guess was in 1990 ? From then on it was remembered more and more - with a very well attended service at Bolton Parish Church in 1996 marking the 50th anniversary.1 like

Yeah ours is sewn on the back. Pretty sure we’ll have a rail near us so figured we’d take ours. And inevitably leave it behind in the ground or a pub 🤣1 like

Saturday the flags should be at half mast. A minutes silence and black arm bands worn. This should be traditional.1 like

About 25k still not on general sale Real issues with transport putting people off. Trains up to 200 if can get one and all coach firms in Devon and Cornwall sold out. Getting a coach to come down from Taunton adds another three hours of driving time and fuel bumping price up to 75 a head. Guess being between Manc and Scouseland there are an abundance to go at up there. Surprised people saying about free flags , Nothing down here been said and if they get permission for the crowd surfers would be waste of time.1 like

Nah. Inflatable clappers and all the other shit we did for European home games trying to drum up an atmosphere. Just get behind the team. Wear the colours, bring the family and friends and have a good day.1 like

I was down at the UniBol this afternoon. I was disappointed not to see the flags at half mast for the 33. Also we should, as a club and fans, mark the anniversary more. I feel it's been neglected. It's sometimes called the forgotten disaster, and it seems it is with the folk of Bolton and the club. The odd social media post is something but it's the bare minimum the club has done. I'm not asking for anything major but flags at half mast would be a start. I did notice the names of the dead were on a plaque near the Lofthouse statue. But maybe a separate memorial would be more fitting. Something fans could visit and lay flowers. I know, I'm sounding like a Liverpool fan.1 like
