  2. Not too down about it leaving the ground which tells me I never expected much from tonight deep down. It felt and feels more like a missed opportunity than a failure. Don't get me wrong it's frustrating losing over two legs to side that I honestly feel we are better than but I don't know, just feel like I can't get angry or critical about it.

  3. I think this is a very well spoken interview from Ian, with great perspective and taking the emotion out of it. We came from league 2 just 2 seasons ago with a completely reborn club and squad, which since then has progressed each year. The fact we've completed with the teams around us who have all been in the championship more recently has been great. And still, having seen some of the 'best' teams in the league, they're actually quite poor footballing sides. Like Ian said, we're playing the longer game, not rushing in overspending, building the club back up and playing a style that has the foundations to take us forward. Barnsley will struggle playing like that in championship games against teams that will dominate the possession but with much better footballers than ours currently. I have complete faith in Evatt, he's shown no reason to doubt the progress we've made thus far. Playing horrible nasty football is to an extent what it takes to get you out this division, but once you're on the championship you get found out. It happened to us under parky.

  5. Having read all the during and post match comments, nobody has called out how shite Johnstone was, yet again, in defending the cross that came in and lead to the goal. He must be THE worst centre half we have ever had for heading ability. Just in case you missed it, he never even attempted to jump in the air to try and stop the ball reaching the head of the geezer who scored. Anyway, onwards and upwards, we'll be better next season, auto promotion - especially if GJ learns to head a ball!

  7. My only concern with Evatt is that he doesn’t seem to like players with character, who have an opinion that differs to his. We have no leaders on the pitch and everybody has to play to his instructions even if things aren’t working. Sometimes you just need someone to take the initiative on the pitch but we don’t have that. The nearest we did have were Sarce and Doyler and look what happened there? Evatt has many qualities and he’s done a super job but I do wish he could be a little more humble and accept that sometimes he needs help on the pitch as much as off it.

  14. Overall we have had a good season need to have a re-think on the squad. Players out of contract doubt I would resign any of them , Bod is made of glass and Lee his legs have gone the others doubt they would be missed. Dan can go back to Southampton and we could do with selling Vic he’s bobbins. We need a LWB a RWB 2 tough midfielders and 2 strikers and a goal keeper but down to IE now he’s the manager .

  17. Commentators spot on, why have possession if you do nowt. Evatt sets us up in a way that is too hard to win games consistently, we don't score/create enough. A second half of a play off match that you're losing and not one shot on target, crap.

  30. Along with the consistent failure to pay wages on time this'll be a massive red flag for players who they'll be trying to sign. And they're going to be bargain basement hunting with a vast budget reduction regardless. I enjoyed reading about the suspended penalties for further non-payments and if their owner fails to lodge a sum in the bank for wages by Weds coming. Remember the Summer of 2019 at BWFC? We know that Wigan have a habit of trying to copy all things BWFC but it's getting ridiculous now.

  32. Yes, there's losing and there's "the rest of the country is laughing at us" losing. We've had our "Stoke" and this is their equivalent. They will be scarred by that next time they are in the play offs, the feeling that even if you win the 1st leg 4-0 you're just setting yourself up for heartbreak that's on another level and leaves an emotional scar.

  35. You don't need other opinion's just read the detail; https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CBP-9484/CBP-9484.pdf I think this is my favourite bit; Limited economic effect The Government’s Impact Assessment estimates that the long-run effect of the agreement will be to increase UK GDP by 0.08% or £2.3 billion a year by 2035. Twenty economic sectors are estimated to see an increase in output because of the agreement. It is estimated to have an adverse effect on three sectors, however: agriculture, forestry and fishing; semi-processed foods; and manufacture of other transport equipment (although the effect on this last sector is extremely small). The Impact Assessment notes all these estimates are subject to considerable uncertainty. The small economic effect of the agreement is unsurprising as Australia accounts for a small proportion of UK trade. The UK exported £9.8 billion of UK-Australia free trade agreement 6 Commons Library Research Briefing, 12 May 2023 goods and services to Australia in 2021 (1.6% of all UK exports) and imported £4.6 billion from Australia (0.7% of all UK imports). In addition, barriers to trade with Australia are already relatively low for many products. Let's not knock any deals - BUT - to state that this is a huge triumph being out of the EU is stretching credulity.

  37. im very chilled i make it 60/40 in their favour and prob similar odds if we get to the final so, every chance we lose but its not end of the world if we dont do it...one things for sure theres nowt worse than losing a play off final, so if we are not going up, let it end tonight
