Evatt is improving us year on year on a limited budget plus we have a well defined style that is good on the eye. He is doing all the things that our previous six managers failed to do and were criticised for. Hill (no logical playing style or plan), Parkinson, Megson (results only style), Freedman (no improvement), Lennon (could not work on a tight budget). Evatt has done all those things and more. Very short memories on here.3 likes

Evatt is ace. He's not the finished article but is improving and will end up a good manager for us. Solid 8/10 so far but a big summer ahead. I back him to get it right.3 likes

This big game thing... We were not just beaten by teams that probably had a right to beat us? Plymouth and Ipswich beat everyone. Sheff Werent far behind. Derby was a bit shit Ill give you them. The only fact that matters is finishing 5th. A totally respectable league position given where we've come from and the budgets we've been up against. Couldn't give two shits what he says in interviews. Who the hell listens to them anyway.2 likes

Anyone else relieved and glad its all over for a bit? Felt proper drained with it all towards the end. Constantly planning and think of how to get to games and financial pressure. Happy with a few months off1 like

There's never quite been a time like this. Board/Football staff/fans in pretty much complete in alignment. In fact it rarely happens at any club. In the 1970s the fans and team were aligned but I don't remember many folk having particular regard for the board. The 80s was horrendous. By the 90s we'd Bruce etc ... but Gordon Hargreaves was far from everyone's cup of tea. Gartside and Allardyce was the closest to this we've had .. and that fell apart with rancour. Well done to Sharon and FV. After the destruction of what went before we've marched across footballing wildernesses with nothing to call upon but our wits and resilience and a positive attitude, warding off pot-shots from all directions. We've marched such a distance that championship football is now just about visible. It remains a distant view on a far horizon with highly challenging miles still to cover before we arrive. However there it is unmistakably shimmering in the distance. Onwards we go.1 like

If that's what they want then leave them to it I suspect anyone who wants to go any other night probably supports the idea anyway Some white gays should make a point of going that night though, or least protest outside1 like

Great stuff, love that. Well done to everyone that stayed behind instead of clearing off to beat the traffic. How good would the support have sounded and looked if there'd been 5k of us? Off topic but the EFL is doing itself a disservice by making the play offs less atmospheric with the away fans limited to 2k, more neutrals would watch on TV, drawn in by the atmosphere even if not too interested in the two teams.1 like

Exaclty this and he wouldnt even be still at the club. He'd have exceeded all expectations by a million miles. Its like the Jan flop thing. What were people expecting? Big Vic comes in, cracks 20 in and we win the league? Come on lads.1 like

Really good message, typical of everything Sharon and colleagues are doing, positive, professional, engaging and caring. I'd echo that sentiment Francis, club being run as well as at any time I can remember, going back as far as the 70s.1 like

Fair play for sticking to his principles. Hes trying to install an ethos and way of playing throughout the club. Cant think of another top manager that doesnt do this. Some are saying he should change and go long ball as if thats easy. Some are saying we should have gone full barca mode and some are saying he shouldn't have sold dapo and we should be playing 442. You just cant please everyone.1 like

Love this bit: Let me promise you something: that progress will not plateau. Ian is a born winner and we as a Board wonāt leave any stone unturned in matching his ambition by taking this Club back to where it belongs.1 like

Referencing we train like Real Madrid. Heās not referencing the facilities or statute of the club at this point which suggests itās him and his coaching. His sound bites not backed up sound daft. Im not suggesting Iām anti but I find the siege mentality blindness to his errors as odd.1 like

What was the "etc" in your reply though? You only specified 1 reason for thinking Evatt is 'above his station', but stuck an "etc" on the end as though there were more? Or is that literally it?1 like

He's the right man for the job. Were on the right path. Given how far we have come in two years I don't think anyone should really criticise him. We are living within our means, challenging at the top end of the league and winning trophies. He's had way more wins than losses in the transfer market. I like the fact he wants perfection. I like the way we play. He knows we need to improve , where we need to improve, he's honest and he doesn't bullshit in interviews. Honestly can't wait to see how he shapes the squad this summer.1 like

This is my two pence worth, considering we were a basket case when he arrived, hardly any money spent on transfer fees we are a head of schedule. Heās a young manager still learning his trade , out of the top six clubs/managers in this league heās had the most difficult task of getting us there, the other five either coming down from the championship or being established in league one, all three seasons we have improved and last seasons talking point was we were leaking to many goals, this has been addressed. He does need to come up with a plan b next season and that is a concern that we have been bullied on occasion over the last two seasons, hopefully pre season recruitment will go some way to solving it. January transfer window didnāt work out, the reason may be he thought all the players he brought in would hit the ground running and therefore wouldnāt need to get match fit, get the feeling he enjoys the coaching of players so victor may improve. He lives and breathes Bolton wanderers whatās not to like.1 like
