  1. I lived next to the Emirates for a few years about 15 years ago. I’m not one for flags outside your home, but I made an exception for my balcony…

  2. Few sources at the club say that FV won’t stump up for hotels and trains for Peter Atherton and Crainey unless they use bunk beds. No issue for crainey but Atherton not keen. He travels on his own and out of his own pocket and has the Hilton honours app and is talking about taking a holiday to Mexico with the points.

  9. The Battle of Normandy came to an end 80 years ago today, hence me now taking down my D Day picture. The East Lancs Regiment who originally formed in Huyton were heavily involved in the tank battles, went on to fight in the Battle of the Bulge and became one of the first to cross the Rhine in the biggest amphibious assault since D Day... lots of local lads, many became bus drivers on demob. Here's a picture of the boys from one of my books... I haven't found a picture of "Bolton" yet...

  14. Could recreate the whole experience on a budget, 1st. Go to Tesco and buy there weakest lager, you could put it in your fridge but for a more authentic experience we recommend you don't. 2nd. Go and put your smallest TV as far up your garden as you possibly can and prepare this to play grainy YouTube images. 3rd. Wait for a drizzly night and ask someone to drop you and a couple of mates at the other side of a part of town that you are unfamiliar with and tell them that you'll walk back home. 4th. After a long trapce back stand at your own back door for 50mins then ask your wife to pass you a warm lager and turn to the previously prepared grainy images on YouTube and pretend you're enjoying it for 10mins or so. 5th. Get one of your mates to urinate on your shoes and stand at your back door again for 50mins. 6th. If its not already raining, ring a neighbour and get them to pop a sprinkler on in your direction, then when its really dark get one of your party to drop there phone and all of you trample it into your lawn. 7th. Think of the fun you've had and the money you saved. Win Win.

  18. The State Pension in terms of the % in provides in old age is only going to drop. Young uns starting work now should know this and provision into their old age needs to be largely self funded. With an aging population we simply need to acknowledge that the amount per head will fall. Equally over generous public sector pensions with anything linked to final salaries are not sustainable. The burden is going to move from State to personal. Anyone who is currently working and not paying into a decent scheme will be fucked in their pension years, which soon will be their 70s. This is really not a party political issue as there is nothing that can be done to affect the change in demographics as the population gets older. Each generation in essence funds the previous generation and that leads to less funding more. Anyone working needs to be paying into their Pension from the day they start working.

  19. Fair enough. I thought you were saying we should all get a tiered system where higher paid folk get a better pension when they retire, and Bob the street sweeper gets peanuts even though he’s worked his fingers to the bone but was a bit dim and only really any good at sweeping.

  22. I suppose it would have been exactly the same cost if we'd drawn Wimbledon away, so its still a huge financial bonus to be playing at Arsenal instead of in front of 5k.

  24. We've spent far more in the last 18 months on transfers than we've brought in. Far, far more. Very harsh to criticise owners for not reinvesting transfer money when they've actually gone above and beyond that!

  27. Makes me laugh music snobs and those with their hands over their ears denying the enormity of both the band and this reunion. Some of the camparisons are hilarious! 🤣 How many pre 30 year olds would be interested in Radiohead, Blur or Culture Club 🤣 Anyway the important stuff: - How does this pre-sale ballot work? - Is the Saturday morning a queue a period of time before, or fastest finger refresh at 9am? - Any comparisons to BWFC away ticket purchases, gladly appreciated 😊👍

  28. It's real easy for me, a midfield of Thommo, Paris and Matete in front of the defence would look so much stronger. I think Evatt should be doing everything he and the club can to make it happen. Despite Sheenan's performance last year, i still cant get past how lightweight he is when we do not have the ball and i think he'd be a great impact sub circa 60 mins in to a game.

  29. Sincerely hoping for the Wednesday on the second week and then we can just stay in That London right the way through from Wednesday to Sunday. Bought off peak returns for Crawley so should be able to use those a few days early and job’s a good un 🙏

  30. I think it was because if a Champs League team and a Europa League team were drawn against each other they wouldn’t be able to play either week. So they were kept separate. I think the pre-draw was to determine how many of those played at home and how many played away.

  33. So you're arguing that we should take from the rich first? Or at least the better off? And use that money to fund subsidies for the less well off? That sounds like socialism to me. And I'd agree with you. And the French system you've described (the more you pay in the more you take out) is the same as how all pension schemes work isn't it? It's just based on your final salary rather than an average accrual over time? Which again - we could have, providing we all paid more tax. Which again, sounds a bit like socialism to me. I've got a spare red flag that you can use here comrade! All property is theft ⛳ 👍 😁

  34. The reason for the seeding is APPARANTLY because champs league play on two different weeks or some bullshit. I looked last night and Arsenal will be playing their champs league on the w/c 16th. So everyone could just play on the w/c 23rd. It's complete bullshit that they have done it.

  35. You're right about this, shocking what they have done to this draw to keep the champions league teams happy. Let them play each other the bastards.

  36. Taking from the poorest in society first isn’t socialism in my mind. My other comment about egalite was sarcasm. People in the public sector have much better pensions than those in the private sector. I over simplified the French pension scheme but generally, the more you put in, the more you take out. Simple. 👍

  40. According to UEFA website, Champs League matchday 1 is w/c 16th, so Arsenal will be playing in that. Which means our game will be w/c 23rd. As they play City on Sunday 22nd, our game will be Weds 25th.
