Shite game but we ground it out. Young lad had an amazing time as Mascot. If you've got a kid and can afford the (what I think is very expensive) price then go for it. Brilliant experience. Even for to meet Super John and am now the proud owner of a Dan Nlundlu match worn shirt (I'll start the bidding at £100). Little lads face as is walked out with Dion Charles was worth the money alone. PS - I don't know what our kit man's called - but he's an absolutely lovely bloke and was brilliant with the kids and let them press their favourite players numbers onto their match shirts for the day. Everyone at the club was a credit. Fantastic day! 👍17 likes

this free hit thing is doing my head in now who honestly even thinks it's a free hit? this is exactly the game we need right now this is IE's big test he's got 13 from 15 in games we expect to win if we're going for top 2 the issue last season was not turning up in the big games this is a big game this will show us if we're on the right path or not free fucking hit fuck off11 likes

in my mind if we want to really see that we've moved on from last season and are serious contenders there's absolutely no reason to go into this game (as fans) and think we ought to lose I don't mind losing if the performance is there but if we bottle it or don't show up like we did so many times last season and earlier this season, I don't really want to then hear "well we werent expecting to win anyway" they're good but they're not that good9 likes

This "free hit" debate is bollocks. It's fucking Birmingham City, a fellow League 1 team. It's not Manchester City. Granted, they are possibly the best side in the division and have the biggest budget, but to say this is a "free hit", as if they should be playing Champions League, rather than League 1, is a bit embarrassing.5 likes

I agree, the sound system is fucking awful at the Reebok and probably requires a complete overhaul. And that song compilation thing we're playing before kick off this season is fucking atrocious.4 likes

The target should still be top 2 The idea of a free hit is nonsense Arsenal away was a free hit Brum away is most definitely not We should and can give them a game They haven't battered anyone and only kept 2 clean sheets All that money and Keshi Anderson plays for them4 likes

Asylum seekers are not economic migrants and so shouldn't be treated as such The focus should be on ensuring we have the infrastructure capable of processing and making determinations on asylum claims rather than exploiting their presence to help fulfil any skill shortage in the economy3 likes

Lad did it last year for the Cheltenham game, he gave my lad and the other mascot a training top each, he was brilliant with them. The whole experience was superb. great to see you had a good day.3 likes

Not sure if it's been said earlier, but the substitution of Charles as soon as we scored the 2nd was ridiculous. We'd just had two attacks and two goals. Charles must've been thinking he'd score a goal in a minute. What better way to kill momentum than to make a completely unnecessary change. As was said by the lads I was with, that substitution, same as they always seem to be, was always going to happen in that minute regardless of whether it was 2-0, 0-2 or 0-0.3 likes

What an absolutely top guy. He couldn't do enough for the kids. He's miles younger than I expected mind. I always imagine kit men to be old fellas for some reason? Anyway - nice to know we have some fantastic people working at our club. And the players were great with him too! I'm even more full of love for the club than I've ever been! 👍3 likes

Today was the first time this season that I actually got to see us score and win at home. Before it was 0-0 Wrexham, 0-2 Exeter, then 0-4 Huddersfield. So personally I was just delighted to see us score and win! The common denominator I found in all of those games and today is we actually start relatively well and positive and look the better side. And in those games, after 20 minutes or so the tide changes, we don't score, we get frustrated and then that theme usually continues and we likely concede a goal. We're massively reliant upon momentum I think more so than other teams. When we go ahead we can look unplayable, when we go behind, we hardly ever come back, especially in the big games. This is a big issue under Evatt's tenure. It was different today, I don't think despite all the doom and gloom of this season we have played that badly in most of our games. Even the embarrassment of the Huddersfield game, it was very even until they opened the score right before half time then they got a penalty and game over. I think our downfall mostly is not putting away our chances when we are on top and then making detrimental errors leading to conceding poor goals with no way back. Unfortunately that's a recipe for disaster. Today we still saw signs of the same but I'm hoping after our recent improvement in form that we can continue to improve from here. Because we really need to, as our real test starts on Tuesday night. I think most of us fans won't be swayed over until we start to see us perform in the bigger games and they're coming. In a way, I think the next 5/6 league games will define Evatt's legacy. Birmingham away Peterborough home Stevenage away Stockport away Rotherham away Blackpool home3 likes

Aye mate Sadly people will struggle to admit that leaving the EU has only worsened our ability to manage immigration. Whilst taking important funding from many of the communities we see looking more deprived by the day. Some folk would rather just weaken us further by taking us out the ECHR.2 likes

Maybe, just maybe, with a population crisis on the horizon, it might have been an idea to stay in the biggest trading block on the planet with freedom of movement instead of ostracising ourselves to the rest of Europe and only being attractive to every wafe&stray across the planet instead of true economic migrants capable of creating some kind of positive input to our economy and society?2 likes

Nowt wrong with immigration... the problem is we have too many of the "wrong" immigrants2 likes

Some of our fans can't wait for us to put a foot wrong so it proves their already made up minds right and leads to Evatt getting sacked. Some of our fans refuse to accept 13 points out of 15 being a good thing. Blinded. Absolutely blinded.2 likes

But it will, because not even a less than convincing win is good enough for a lot of our 'fans' nowadays.2 likes

I dont think ive said free hit, in fact im sure i havent, but defeat shouldnt lead to a 20 pager either I think thats the point being made Prob the toughest looking game we have had under Evatt and one that, on paper, we ought to lose2 likes

It’s a free hit In terms of if we lose we lose, I’m not for one minute thinking we can’t win this… perhaps free hit is wrong description… I’m going and if I did not think we had a possibility of getting a positive result I’d not be travelling.2 likes

So, so predictable. Not working, mooching about aimlessly, often in groups. Contributing absolutely nothing, but utilising accommodation and services. Quite often involved in crime, antisocial behaviour etc. Nothing strange about it at all. You simply don't or won't understand that such concerns are nothing to do with colour or race, and are continually thrusting suggestive comments and insults at those who do. If they were all white, British, doing the same, you'd be all over it, slagging off the lazy Brits, etc. You may be happy about it, but you're highly likely to be in a minority. Your ivory tower of life in a city of education and tourism is nothing like that in former industrial ttows, where councils and governments have been happy to receive and dump disproportionate numbers for an immediate bit of coin, and no long term thinking. Maybe Scotland should start taking equivalent numbers, they'll do well with the disproportionate numbers of addicts.2 likes

Completely disagree. At 2-0 the game should have been won & over, so it made sense to save Charles for Brum, remembering that he'd played in midweek. Burton scoring made it more nervy than it should have been but had nothing to do with Charles going off.2 likes

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgwx9xprwqo Seems a very balanced review of what has happened and where we are now. The bit on the insulin deaths is a good reflection. Evidence was produced as 'factual' at the trial , but the test has been challenged since as it could in theory produce a false result, but the fact the same test produces the same result in two different circumstances makes this much less likely. You are then left asking if it was nt her, who was it ? One of the experts challenging the evidence was not called to give evidence but it was Letby herself who asked for him not be called which is very strange. If you are charged with mass murder you would think you would be happy to have anyone speak for you. Also an interesting point on the state of the kids, they were described as 'stable' by witnesses, but they would not be in the unit if they were in great health. So stable is relative to their personal circumstances and did the jury understand this ? They might have but @kent_white is probably the only one on here who has experienced a patient that is classed as stable on such a ward and how ill and vulnerable they are. The challenges to the competency of the defence are mentioned but worth noting here that KC who defended her is a lot more senior and experienced than the lawyer who had taken over. @mickbrown has said it all seems like a shit show but worth noting again lots of the stuff appearing in the press now is a direct result of stories put out by the new defence team and they really are one view only not balanced reporting. This is going to run for years2 likes

Indeed. Migration is marvellous. We absolutely need migrants as a nation to survive. The NHS would be screwed without it and so would a lot of other sectors. But unfortunately there's a shit side of the unfettered migration that generates absolute hell hole ghettos Littered with gangs of Romanians/Albanians/etc. Hotels full to the brim of asylum folk all draining the system.2 likes

4 wins out of 5 no matter the opposition is decent. look at where we sit in the league and we are only 3 points less than 2 a game and everyone is saying we have had a bad start ! charlton and Stockport are both crowing how well they have started and we are level with them ! free hit Tuesday and then 4 other quite big games. Let’s see how we are after those. burton has always been a bit of a bogey team, they bring naff all so nothing to bounce off for the fans. 3 points, next…….2 likes

Some proper over dramatic stuff and ignorance of history regarding atmosphere and results/performances against Burton to back a negative narrative about Evatt. Out of the other 11 times we’ve played them, under 4 different managers in the last 10 years, which one has had a better combined result/performance with a fantastic atmosphere? Probably the 2-1 in 2022 - but that required a last minute goal. Point being we’ve never rolled these over in front of a massive and excited crowd2 likes

I'm not blaming anyone for anything. I'm simply saying I wouldn't want my street to turn in a ghetto like other areas in town. People are happy for other areas to look like a back street in Bucharest but not their own. My angst against this country has absolutely nothing to do with foreign folk or migration. It's about our wank weather, shite economy and being led by corrupt donkeys. There's better lives to be lived elsewhere imo.2 likes

Wow. They are in the same league and 9 points ahead. I agree we will rollover as Evatt is a gimp who can’t handle the occasion. That said we should never go to Birmingham and think we are on a hiding.2 likes

Are you serious? This is how pathetic we’ve become. How’s this a free hit. We will bring Arfield on 70 min and Collins maybe2 likes

Talking out of your fucking arses. Would you both want a shit load of asylum seekers or migrants moving next door? Would you fuck. Pair of absolute liars.2 likes

I noticed this too. Much better use of zonal defending to cover the full box and edge of the box. I'd also argue they you leave 1 man up on the half way line and the opposition need to leave 2 back and therefore avoid any overloads in the box.2 likes

The more time I spend out of England the more I long to never have to go back. I'd move away and never go back in a heartbeat. Shit, cold, rain sodden shit country that's going backwards. It's full to the brim of sponging shit cunts and horrible people. Everyone is down and miserable and you're getting ripped off all over the place.2 likes

The reaction to 13 from 15 has been tempered by the opposition and the Villa debacle in the middle. Burton yesterday were not the shit houses of the past but were really poor, but their guy cleared one of their shots off the line or we go one down. We then played quickly twice in 5 minutes go 2 up and it should be a stroll instead we have the return of comedy defending. The change back to two in midfield yesterday was baffling, for 15 minutes at start it was working and maybe if we scored early game is different. For about the 4th season running I do not think anyone knows our best 11, up front that is because we have lots of options, midfield we are very short and at the back injuries mean we have JDC playing as a centre half. But if everyone is fit... keeper is fine, Scone is fine, GJ starts for me but if Toal and Gethin are fit IE has picked them both ahead of him, Santos is a must start for me but people keep saying he is shit ! Midfield assume we play 3 normally so Captain Legohead, Sheehan and Dempsey, but if he fucks about with 2 in there could be anyone. Only Matete and Arfield to back up unless you class Lolas and CMG as midfield players Upfront perm any 2 or 3 from 6 or 71 like

There’s definitely a feeling of anticipation about the place pal. I think folk are either in your category. Or like me, they’ve been nicely surprised at our form and turnaround since Huddersfield, knowing that the bigger tests are just round the corner and that anticipation is one of hope that this can translate into something bigger/better - I suspect that’s the reason why over 2000 will be going to Birmingham Tuesday.1 like

He said wandering about. ie. No purpose and contributing nowt was how I read it. That does intimidate many people, especially young girls and women. If I walk up to the hospital near me, I’ll see lots of immigrants working. I really don’t think anyone has a problem with those on here.1 like

Can only think/hope we will play in midfield on Tuesday. So back to 2 upfront. But I think he should mix the combinations up Vic and Charles are both 'number 9s' and Collins and McAtee more 'number 10s' or second forwards. It make sense imo to play one of Vic and Dion and one of Collins and McAtee. I get they will have tried different combos in training but it just seems mixing the options might work better IMO.1 like

Right, that's the 5 easy games out of the way post Huddersfield. 13 points from 15 is a positive return but we haven't really learnt anything about Evatt or the team. You can tell the fans aren't getting swept up into thinking we're great again after these games, it's so flat. Rightly so, with the amount of let downs we've had from Evatt and team this last year especially. Next 5 will be much more useful to gauge us. We simply have to start beating some of the better teams in big games this next 5 or Evatt surely has to be sacked.1 like

It is good to grind out wins, especially if we're not playing particularly well. Apart from a couple of games, we haven't really looked great, and wins have been a bit scrappy. Could go a couple of ways: build on wins, and get more confidence, or stumble along and not win certain games (Shrewsbury) that we'll have to, to go up. I still can't get my head round the set up again today, especially playing Sheehan in a 2 man midfield- It does him no favours- and after going back to what seems to work for us. Sooner or later, we're going to have to get a positive result, away, at a "big" team though; to give that real belief to the players, and to help remove doubts within the fan base. Obviously we have to be pleased with a win, so tonight will be decent, but I suspect many of us still need convincing.1 like
