Be positive, have a go and enjoy it. Done. Nolan will get a clap before and after, but for the 90 minutes in between I hope he has a thoroughly miserable evening.7 likes

Really? I couldn't give a monkey's where he turns up and when. I don't wish him any ill will, but I'm just not arsed.6 likes

Why did we ride our luck a bit? They hardly had a shot on target and we had at least four decent chances.4 likes

Cant wait for Robbie Fowler to be unveiled just before kick off, sacking Jules instantly and getting him escorted from the ground and taking his place in the dugout, all whilst Sharon is, in her best Delia impersonation, screaming "you got what you wanted, enjoy this"3 likes

Julian has always been a bright lad. Not much time to prepare so keep it simple, soak it up and hit them on the break. Last three games Collins has worked hard and has been excellent. What is remarkable is the amount of good players on the sidelines. Season not over yet.2 likes

Doesn't surprise me really. I suppose the quick equaliser didn't help. Everyone was elated the other day, and once the endorphins have worn off, I suppose it can take a bit for them to get going again. Couple that with a shallow sense of confidence- one great result won't entirely rebuild it- but plenty of expectation it was always a banana skin. To emerge with a good win, against a much improved team, is fantastic, and says a fair bit about the change in character, if not quite yet as much about the quality. If the new man can harness the character, improve confidence and add a touch more quality and consistency, then we won't go far wrong. Not much to ask.2 likes

Was a strange game tonight. Crowd seemed really flat and I didn't think we played particularly well. Chuffed for Darby though.2 likes

Couple of observations.. by going a little more direct with more intent to get forward quicker it doesn’t half talk sheehans influence out the game a bit. it’s ok going up to a big man. If he can hold it and link play. Vic commits ABH with his 2nd touch. Fuck me. It just hands possession back. just because evatt has gone doesn’t mean there aren’t times where the players need to go backwards. Doesn’t need every fucker getting on their backs cos they have done. It feels strange looking forward to going to a home game, and not thinking "well if we lose, its one game nearer". It puts an edge on the game I'm just not used to in recent months. Great stuff.2 likes

Aasgaard (finally) off from Wigan. Off to Luton for £3m. PNE had an offer rejected for their keeper, Tickle too. when you look at that £3m and the rumoured £6m offer for that Kone at Wycombe whose only been in the league 6 months, does it again bring in to question how little we let our players go for…2 likes

I wouldn't with regards to my daughters coursework. As I said, I only read it out of pure curiosity and interest. I don't go through it with a fine-tooth comb. She's 19. If she wants to use AI, that's up to her. But I'm pretty confident she doesn't. I know my 12 year old lad doesn't use AI because we talk about his homework, and it's all hand-written anyway. I'm sure he'll start submitting stuff via email etc. in the next couple of years, but he's got the same mindset as his older sister. Loves learning and talking about what he's learned, rather than getting good marks via cheating. Understands the value of 'education', rather than just getting a certificate.2 likes

I know what you and others are saying above, as after a win, you sense an unnecessary need to change things and being at home requires two forwards. To be honest in that formation I see Randall more as a forward support for Collins, not a midfielder. My counter argument to all of the above is that this game is completely different to Huddersfield. I think we’ll see a lot more of the ball, we’ll play higher up the pitch. WBs will be much further forward, so Sheehan acts not only as a shield, but as the deeper midfielder who can dictate things as he does so well. I think Northampton have one of the lowest possession stats in the league, so I doubt we’ll approach the game in the same way we did Huddersfield. Anyway another refreshing thing about tonight is that nobody, me included, is going to be overly bothered what side he picks pre-game! And after Saturday JD gets a free ride on his team selection.2 likes

Bet it’s tricky working out all the coach/travel logistics, seeing as they are so far away and cut off from a train network. Mind you being so far away from their Manchester friends, it’s nice they’ve created a community that can connect and bond as one, it must be difficult getting home and seeing family and friends on a regular basis.2 likes

Try telling that to @green genie😀 Joking aside, this conversation reminds me of those from last January's transfer window that suggested not signing anyone that wasn't capable of playing in the championship, as that was clearly where we were heading 😒 Let's just concentrate on improving the present and the future will take care of itself.2 likes

Yep, fair point, Nolan's no doubt looking to make them tougher to beat and a physical challenge. Lolos is alright, has height and can be an awkward nuisance to defenders in behind the front two. I quite like him.2 likes

This city had no fans thing really is a bit of myth. Obviously they've recently attracted hordes of glory hunters and kids across the country but it's not like they were some minows like Preston or summet. Their away followings have always been absolutely huge. They took massive followings all over the place. Anyone that went to Maine Road will vouch for how tasty it could be. They were a massive club long before the Arabs turned up.1 like

If the Bolton Citeh SC was going twenty years' ago I'd agree with you. But it hasn't and is just another glory hunting embarrassment. And I don't think anyone can level the Lancaster or Chorley Whites as ever being glory hunters! 😁1 like

Let's beat them with sheer quality, we've got better players, then let's get at them. I think we've learnt that keeping simple can really be a good thing and not asking the players to do over complicated things. Wide players running at them, spine of the team going in hard, players up top running in behind, 20k fans all together. It's time to make our stadium a fortress again, it's been piss easy for teams this season.1 like

I'm not having Port Vale, they were relegated! Never a genuine top 4 team, I went to that and never a feel of it being a 6 pointer or a "big" game, we played fine (Forrester again!) but they were awful. For balance, I don't think anyone had Rotherham away recently as a game against bottom half fodder either, that was always a tough game. I think Barnsley is the only big away league game IE won, and as you say they had 10 men for about 80 minutes. The only "big" home game I can recall winning, other than Sunderland 6-0 a long time ago, is Derby in Sep 2023 when they were mid table and played with 10 men after an incorrect sending off.1 like
