  1. So glad we kept Morley. If ever there was a player lost in Evatts system he is it. He is completely thriving now.

  2. I know it's easy to say when everything is going well and, no doubt, there will be times when things are not going so well in the future but he comes across as a really likeable lad. Negativity has been replaced with positivity; pessimism with optimism; a broken man with a stoked up man. A large proportion of us felt this was needed after the Oxford debacle. If they'd acted a month or two earlier second would have been that much easier to attain but there's a good chance we'll do it anyway. We are going up. Sure of it.

  6. Just back & still highly chuffed....I didn't think i'd ever see us win at bastard Burton. !st half , we were great, played some lovely football, outclassed them & should have been more than one up at h/t 2nd half was traditional Burton away aerial bombardment, they score one that did cross the line but had more than a bit of handball about it but we didn't cave in, defended resolutely, looked dangerous on the break & got the win we deserved. Everyone contributed, Forrester very good again but Toal MOTM, practically unbeatable on the ground or in the air EIEIEIfuckingO

  9. Nah. First you denied making the bet. I then offered to do a postal vote witnessed by people on here and even let them post it but you didn’t trust them. Even with all the comments on here about me voting for Julie, you still won’t believe. Looks like I’ll have to pay for you. Im making a change though. I’ll pay it to @L/H Whitecharity instead. Keep it in house. Enjoy the sunshine.

  11. I was taking my "one for the road" too literally & walking home drinking it. After several weeks Pat put a hand written note up saying "Glass Amnesty. Bring them back, no questions asked". I walked in a few days later with about 25 glasses in a box. He looked a bit ansty & I pointed to the sign. He said "yeah, that's when I thought I had a glass issue. Now I know it was a YOU issue !! You can f'cough. Yer barred".

  13. Since SS took over it’s been one game at a time. And apart from the odd round of games it’s been us that have benefited massively We’ve gone from hoping to maybe scrape 6th place in the playoffs to an outside chance of automatic Just keep going one game at a time. Somebody will blow up. Grind it out. The hope kills. I’m out of cliches now

  14. I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread - a proper team follows up Tuesday night's performance with another win today It bodes well that we've done that imo

  28. There’s one monkey gone 😄 We can seriously get this 2nd place. Sheehan take a bow what a hit to win it. Only gripe was the Randell sub, never his sort of game. Needed Matete or CMG. It’s a good do though if that’s all I’m pissy about.

  29. They have improved since the new manager took over. Some good results. Today may not have been the prettiest at times, but we could and perhaps should have been comfortable by half time. They got a scabby equaliser, but we still had the character to get another. We were never going to have it easy that second half, unless we got an early second. A bloody fantastic result at a bogey side.

  31. Don’t think the war will go on too much longer tbh looking at overnight photos. With Trump pulling all the rugs from underneath them and clearly encouraging Putin to ”bomb the hell out of them” whilst turning a blind eye and slagging the Ukrainians off at every opportunity, VZ is going to be forced to capitulate regardless of what European support comes along. History won’t forget what Trump has done. Despicable coward with innocent blood on his hands. Is this the best he could do? The art of the deal my arse.

  32. We've been lucky, haven't had any power cuts. Couple of hundred thousand people without power in the Gold Coast. It didn't get that windy for us but we're about 5km inland. It's proper pissing down now though. Thanks for your concern 👍

  34. Good. Hatton was an absolute tool - the worst, it took Kinnock and then Smith to rid the party of idiots such as him. Pity the Conservatives aren't taking the same line with their idiots.

  36. Not bothering with which formation or starting line up. Doesn’t matter anymore. If we play with even 90% of the energy and passion of Tuesday night then we win this game. If that’s with certain players starting or coming off the bench, starting 5 at the back or 4 at the back, I don’t care - SS knows better than me (and genuinely at times I was questioning whether Evatt did).

  40. I don’t disagree. But I don’t think Murphy is a League One LB, either. For this reason 3-5-2 is the short-term solution. I don’t think SS can play his preferred back four, if Murphy is the only option available. I don’t know if he has looked at Inwood in training, gauging him against Murphy. If he compares, then I’d sooner give our own youngster an opportunity.

  46. Well as an NHS middle manager that's me out of a job then. Although I'm not sure about my 'fat salary'. Incidentally - a recent review highlighted the fact that there are too few NHS managers to properly cope with the amount of work as opposed to too many. And that employing more and allowing them to focus on specific topics (as opposed to spinning hundreds of plates) would ultimately be beneficial. I don't think you understand how NHS procurement works - but the scrutiny over any type of spend is enormous. For example - at our place - any spend with a value of over £10,000 has to have a business case and then go through a committee who decide whether or not we are allowed to spend it. And any contract over £50,000 has to be listed for public procurement and then go through an extremely onerous selection process. And in my time I've never seen, heard or even had an inkling that anybody is paying back handers to suppliers. There are way too many checks and balances for that. As for DEI - like I've already explained. They provide a really important function. For example. Say I want to procure a new vaccination team in an effort to bring MMR jab rates up to 95% which typically offers herd immunity. One of the most significant problems in achieving this is cultural beliefs of some people from other backgrounds, which I have some understanding of - but not in enough detail to really persuade people to change. This is where DEI might come in and offer advice and support to me about how to overcome these barriers. And their salary will be hugely offset by just one hospital stay by someone who they prevent from catching measles (and require hospital treatment). I can understand how simple it all seems as an outsider looking in. But we're largely intelligent people who do our best to keep everybody fit and well. If we thought that role wasn't worthwhile or somebody wasn't pulling their weight - they would be out. NHS management is ruthless - because we have to be. And if you want some idea of how many cuts have already been made. We had 11 in our team 3 years ago. We've now got 4. With additional work. We aren't allowed to spend any money on things like room hire to conduct large meetings and everything has been cut back. Even tea and coffee. I don't agree with this idea that there's some sort of DOGE like chainsaw swinging that could be done to save a load of cash. Certainly not in any of the places I've ever worked anyway.

  48. They've done really well round the Winter Gardens to improve things. Free business rates and grants for shop frotnages. Looks really well round there now. The town center itself is no different to any other northern town. Take it Eagle85s Mrs doesn't frequent Bolton town center much either The problem areas are the streets just off the good bits. Best analogy I read was Blackpool is like a fallen Christmas tree, sparkling on the outside, slowly dying on the inside. The amount of money the town generates, the streets should be paved with gold. But the council, in the past, would rather spend millions on vanity projects rather than proper regeneration. Something the new government are now addressing tbf. For years the streets of hotels have been left to ruin. Council then allowed companies to use them as HMOs and allow evert wafe and stray from around the country to live in them. That along with building 4 massive chain hotels with a few miles of eachother, including one they actually paid £26m for. That in turn smashes the local trade and creates even more derelict hotels. Years of neglect and poor spending and you end up with the hell holes just off the prom. Hopefully the new regeneration plans come to fruition.
