Spot on, we do ignore the likes of Bolty at our peril. It's a reason I like this place, it does get me out of my own bubble and also the angry I felt towards the arrogance of those who thought the UK wouldn't vote for bexit who lived in London, had lovely rich families in the home counties and had no idea what has happened over the last 30 years in post industrial Britain. But that does t mean you have to agree with isolationist anger, as it'll get you no where and parties like reform are just ticks on the skin of a bigger issue. Happy to feed on the illness but long term offering no cure. However just shouting, 'you're wrong' isn't going to help. Which is why finally we have a government in place to make really horrible decisions - some I don't always agree with ideologically- but we've lost a lot to puritanical and populist politics. It's time for some unpopular decisions being made for the long time good by a sober and sensible government not in rock to the more rabid wings of their respective parties for the good of us, the citizens of this country.3 likes

Don’t think the war will go on too much longer tbh looking at overnight photos. With Trump pulling all the rugs from underneath them and clearly encouraging Putin to ”bomb the hell out of them” whilst turning a blind eye and slagging the Ukrainians off at every opportunity, VZ is going to be forced to capitulate regardless of what European support comes along. History won’t forget what Trump has done. Despicable coward with innocent blood on his hands. Is this the best he could do? The art of the deal my arse.3 likes

On this, when I was doing a lot of miles, which I don't do so much now, like a lot of my colleagues, I'd rarely stop, I'd rather do 200 miles / 4 hours in one hit. On Saturday, I drove to Bolton and back in the same day, a round trip of 390 miles, and didn't even consider stopping (in either direction) as I'd rather get to my destination as soon as I can2 likes

Lets not get too carried away lads, we've been shite for over half the season. Each game as it comes. We would've all taken an outside shot at the play offs a few weeks back. I'm just glad that it is starting to come together particularly under a different manager.2 likes

Last time we played em, they lost 5-0 midweek, whilst we rested. Fat lot of good it did us.2 likes

Just seen this, was more referring to the area around the ground. Everywhere being boarded up she thought she was in some kind of dystopian nightmare. Hadn't been there in a good number of years myself, was trying to picture all the hotels still up and running in full swing, couldn't get over the level of decline.1 like

I’ve just asked a mate of my brothers who is a former merchant navy chap. Stopping/turning a container ship doing 15mph+ can take several miles The tanker was at anchor and he reckons maybe just didn’t appear on radar or was missed by a crew member who was busy watching porn and wanking instead. Freak accident he reckons.1 like

1500 miles in one week is not uncommon.... the clients who are setting the decarbonisation rules are the very same ones who expect engineers and managers to be on call at all compass points 24/7. Glad I'm not dong it anymore... couldn't think of anything worse leaving site late afternoon on the south coast and hoping to sleep in your own bed while watching some charge needle... all you want to do is put the radio on and get into that outside lane and munch away on the wine gums1 like

Well I was barely even primary school age when the incident happened and wouldn't yet have been taken to a BWFC match. Yet in the eyes of the Bloomfield Road intelligentsia I will be a "murderer". It's appreciated that it was a horrendous incident. It can even be appreciated why a serious grudge has been borne by a generation of their support. However when you are smearing fans who weren't even born at the time then you are patently trying to stir animosity and trouble. I have to admit to some degree their attitude has had the desired effect on me. I can't abide them, they rank higher for me than the likes of PNE and Burnley and on a par with Blackburn. I suspect it has far, far less influence on those in younger age groups. Let's hope we finally end the win drought we've had at their ground and send home sulking.1 like

There's still plenty of folk doing 200/300 miles a day, 3 or 4 days per week in my industry. I know my ex-colleague was desperate to ditch his Tesla as, especially during winter a 200/300 mile trip meant he had to stop somewhere at some point1 like

Like it or lump it I do think Reform have more than a foothold with the electorate. You only have to hear any public voxpop on tv programmes to realise a significant proportion of folks are fed up with the state of public services and the lack of attention they think labour and the tories give to improving the lives of themselves or their families. I agree with Bolty (yes, really), that the main parties will ignore this at their peril. If nothing changes I can see Reform making more significant inroads at local/general elections in the next 5 years. It’s always good to have someone to blame and Reform have got big dog whistles. This would be a disaster though imho for the country, and take us down the path towards an intolerant, vindictive society without compassion as is happening across the Atlantic. A great place to live if you’re a rich bigot, not for the people genuinely voting for them out of misplaced hope. So, given the Tories are unelectable atm, reliance has to be on Stamer et al continuing to quietly deliver on promises which will make a real difference to folks’ lives whilst addressing their concerns (esp immigration!). Importantly they also need to be vocal about progress so that folks know there is real change and hence no need to turn to Reform and all of its consequences.1 like

I know formations/football changes but years ago these cunts would have 8 quality strikers between them. Arsenal could have pushed for the title with one but Arteta seems stubborn.1 like

Wrexham have as many tough games as we have - Reading and Wycombe away, Stockport, Charlton and Blackpool are going to be particularly tough. We just need to focus on our own job and see where it takes us.1 like

We've got 8 less points than Wrexham this season, so the way to claw them back realistically is to win at least one game against them, the 2 draws suited them more than us. We still have the chance to claw back 3 points on Wycombe (and Stockport). Our wins against Orient are the reason we are above them, if we'd held on to our lead v Charlton we'd be 6 points above them too. I just think we needed to win at Wrexham if we wanted to catch them, not saying that's easy or that 0-0 isn't a decent result, but now we need favours from quite a few other teams, not just 2 or 3.1 like

I'm struggling to think of a more dangerous looking attack against us than Crawley's at our place, in comparison it seemed easy to deal with Brum and Wrexham for eg (I know attacking potency is far from just about the front 2 - Stockport for eg - I'm purely commenting on the front 2 or 3). They will give anyone a game, but they've conceded 65 goals so not difficult to see where their problems lie.1 like

Through gritted teeth I’ll say they’re a good team with some decent players ATM but I’m confident Schuey will find a way to beat them and personally I don’t care by what score. I’d say our wide pitch would suit us better but their 9 Olaofe likes to play wide left, is quick and dangerous and reminds me a bit of Dapo in terms of playing style. Won’t be easy and it’s a six pointer but we’ll do it.1 like

So yesterday was a mix bag; assessing U8s- parents coaching from the sidelines coaching U6s- parents who want to coach didn’t turn up i then trialed a Pay and Play format- invites development and low/mid ability players down to just pull on a shirt and play 5 8 min matches against different teams. Allow them to manage the game and just intervene when needed. No emphasis on the score, just have fun. Idea is you make friends, you hopefully improve, learn to be fair, but still get that undefinable buzz from playing. A fiver a child… I raised £200 for charity in an hour supervising kids doing what they love. Defo think this has got legs1 like

Given the circumstances: the state of the club and having to literally build a squad from lower division and non-league, I think that wasn't unexpected. What he subsequently did was remarkable, and shouldn't be forgotten. Likewise, the last few months were equally remarkable as he and the team fell from grace. That won't be forgotten neither.1 like
