Just get a striker that knows what they're doing in this league. Pretty please.7 likes

No idea why Cogley is getting stick for today. The pundits were praising him in first half, he had great time of it with Dubs down that side. He's the least of our worries. We lost today because of poor decision making.6 likes

He's made good runs in behind numerous times. He finding space in-between the lines. You people must watch a different game to me.6 likes

Cogley is fast and fit. But unfortunately for us he's simply not very good at passing or kicking the ball. If he could kick it. He'd be in a mid championship team.5 likes

Seems I’m in the minority but thought today was encouraging. Playing a team that (like us) will be up there, we were the ones creating chances and forcing the game. First goal is just rub of the green stuff. We missed some really good chances, struck the woodwork twice, should have had a penalty. Ran out of steam and ideas a little second half but once Stockport got their second (the one thing that was really poor today) the game was done. Let’s be honest, Stockport rode their luck in that fired half today Encouraging performances from some of the newer players too I understand the hangover from last season means people will make comparisons, but they’re vastly different squads. We never want to lose, but it’s one game out of 46. Let’s see where we are after 12 games. Had us down as a top 4 team and sticking with it after today.4 likes

I do like Sheehan - preferably in a League 2 possession based team when he’s given loads of time on the ball. His style is tidy and easy on the eye. It’s just that he’s not cut out for the quicker more robust game SS is aiming for. And when he’s brought on and immediately starts by miscontrolling a pass, floating a corner into the goalie’s hands, giving away unnecessary fouls and then running around in circles a lot it doesn’t help his cause.4 likes

Going off today's performance and last season Mcatee and Sheehan need to be fucked off they are everything we don't need.Yes I know Sheehan has only played 30 minutes today but all I've seen him do is take a shit corner and slow us down.As for Mcatee he's just shit4 likes

This is exactly the difference between our respective squads at the moment. Stockport have big units and players who know how to win free kicks, deliver free kicks, win headers from free kicks. We've tried to address this over the summer but we still have 3 major issues to resolve: -striker: Dalby was signed to do exactly this kind of strong forward play but is unfortunately injured. Burstow coming in as backup was late and I'm not sure if this is his game -RB: I've been banging on about this all summer but Cogley isn't big or strong enough and can get exposed. We need a decent big RB option for physical games -and the biggest one, if we're playing 4231 we need the number 10 to be decent: McAtee is not good enough and incredibly weak. In this formation this role is key and he is a passenger. I'd rather switch to 433 and have another midfielder because we don't have that kind of off the striker player who will beat league 1 defences Still 4 weeks to rectify this in the transfer window3 likes

Everything i saw today just confirms why we need to get out of this shit league. Referring is shocking. Playing at little grounds with poor facilites. Uncovered terracing. There's better grounds in non league football. Poorly supported teams that can't even sell out their home end for their 1st game of the season. Were a big fish in a small pond. Just hope SS can find a way this season.3 likes

Just got back, pain in the arse in the ground, could not find any seats so ended up just stood at the back. Awful view. First we did very well, lots of threat without that many chances. Watching highlights looks like a pen when the lad is pulled back. Shit time to concede. Second half lot less fluent but still created enough to get back in the game. Thought Morley had a good 60 minutes having the wingers as the ‘out’ ball suits his ability to pass. Conway was better than I expected broke up a few attacks. The lack of threat up front was clear to see. McAtee just did not do enough. Sheehan never got into the game. Really do not get the criticism of JDC, they tried to counter our threat down the right by loading that side.3 likes

Keep the faith. We're 90 minutes and a bit in. Tough opening fixture. Huge improvement on the same fixture last season and still lots of bodies to come back from injury yet. We'll be reet. Play offs I reckon.3 likes

Problem is, this happened regularly last season. And we said "when it clicks" a lot too. Yeah, we might paste the likes of Burton etc. but it's this type of fixture which will make or break us. Plenty of time, I expect a slowish start but if we can keep in touch, I think we'll get stronger.3 likes

Randall looked good when he come on, he just needs Erhahon and Simons with/behind him, Sheehan just gets bullied out, im convinced 13 year old nephew could bully him off the ball.3 likes

SS had to make the suns as we were sleepwalking to defeat but anytime we have the unholy trinity of Sheehan , Randall and McAtee together we are fucked. All three need moving out asap....Erhanon will improve us, as hopefully will Dalby but we desperately need someone who can put the ball in the net.3 likes

Just sign a competent striker who knows this league and how to score in it. Not rocket science. Doesn't need resale value, just buy one. We won't be getting out of this league without one.3 likes

Conway has looked excellent by the way. Could have done with cutting that back but I love the confidence from the lad.3 likes

I remember that day. Leeds had a tremendous team. We had won our first three games in (to put it mildly) unexpected style and I fully expected this to be when we finally found harsh realities of the Prem. In its way that 0-0 draw was as extraordinary as the previous three results.3 likes

2 bad misses from McAtee. Including one in the first half where he missed the target but would have been offside anyway. Plus he's a striker and JDC is a wing back. So same reason I wouldn't have a go at McAtee for being beaten by a winger - but I would JDC. Fuck all to do with socks. He's been here a while now and has been given loads of chances. Still haven't seen him have a consistent spell of good form. Massively needs to up his game. I just don't think the quality is there, sadly. He's being played in what I imagine is his natural position now too. So he's running out of excuses fast. I still hope he turns it around but he's on borrowed time for me.2 likes

Positives - all of new signings seem decent, Conway is superb, Randall played well when he came on. Negatives - woeful still up top, McAtee & Tutu need shipping out (with Schon). We’ll be fine - playoffs I reckon. Confirms again though what the hell Evatt & Markham were smoking last season with the signings they made.2 likes

Yes, it doesn't just happen, it isn't just luck, its a skill that you have to scout for and get that type of player into your club. I'm not saying SS hasn't (Dalby etc), just that on the day we didn't show that. They did, and deserved to win. It doesn't mean we won't do what they did in a few weeks once other players are available and settled in.2 likes

That's true but also plays down how they got their goal. Won free kick because their striker is too strong for our defender. Quality ball in at a good height, not floated like our's. Centre forward beats our defenders to the ball and powers it home. Do we have the players that do those 3 things?2 likes

Both teams will be there abouts at the end of the season. But only one by playing football.2 likes

The old 'its what you do in both boxes' adage again. Conway's was unlucky, Gale's forced a decent save, otherwise a dozen efforts on goal that weren't on target.2 likes

Stockport will be there or thereabouts and we've played better than them for most of the game away from home. We need a bit more composure and another forward. But, had some shots gone in rather than hit the post, maybe a pen, then we would be all be regaling an excellent away win.2 likes

Dreadful second half. Should've had it won in the first. Our finishing is still fucking annoying.2 likes

McAtee wasn't bad first half. He's had a shite start to this half though. Both of those things can be true.2 likes

Even if we lose this I want to be optimistic as this new look side does give me a lot of excitement from this opening half. We've turned up to one of the strongest fixtures possible and outplayed them. We should definitely have had a penalty and at least a few goals. Just absolutely infuriating when you don't get what you deserve and then on top of it losing to a side that recently keeps getting the better of you. And also an absolute stinker of a referee. Anyway, come on get the equaliser2 likes

All subjective and depends if we’re home or away. In this country, I’d imagine it would be similar to this India series. In Australia, we need Wood, Archer, Stokes and Atkinson all 100% fit and firing, and we might have a chance of winning one (maybe 2) tests. I highly doubt we can win a series down there as they won’t all stay fit and we lack a top level spinner. Batting less of a concern though some need to find a little more consistency. Stokes and McCullum have done great things for English (and world / test) cricket. But we’re not at the overall level of India or Australia Again, all subjective. Betting now, we lose the Ashes 4-1.2 likes

Absolutely love Lancashire crumbly. The Lancs cheese croquettes at the Pack Horse in Affetside. Bloody lovely. Very expensive down here. Bought a full round one from Fremantle Market. Was on one of my Italian steeds heading home and became aware of loads of cars flashing lights at me and folk waving from the path. Thought to myself 'there's plenty of folk around today who appreciate Italian style and engineering'. The fucking cheese had rolled of my footboards and was rolling down the middle of the main street. Fortunately recovered it damage free. When we see the family on the CDS each year, I spend plenty at Iceland on Lancashire cheese. The white rose of surrender empty vessels often prattle on about 'Gods country'. Well we have his food.2 likes
