The writing off of Simons and Erhahon as a midfield pairing already is fucking bonkers. We haven’t had a competent midfield for years. We’ve now more than got one. We’ve got all sorts of good options and combinations and XS/EE will absolutely be one of them. They had a slightly ineffective half against when our plans went out the window in minute 1 and now we’re questioning why we bought EE 😂. We’ve had to put up with combinations of GT, Matete, Sheehan, Morley, Dempsey and god knows how many other also rans for years. Just be grateful we’ve actually got some proper centre mids in.8 likes

All this fuss over a hotel holding just 140 men. Another 1000 arrived over the last seven days. How long before Bolton Stadium Hotel is used? Probably make more money than they do now and it’ll all go towards strengthening the team. Match day will be enhanced with cheap car washes whilst the owners are watching the match. The economy could do with a boost. Winners all round.👍4 likes

Huge amount of assumption in that statement of fact. In reality, we don’t know what we offered, we don’t know if it was lowball, we don’t know what their plan was with him, we don’t know if we changed their plan with our apparent offer and we don’t know if an offer of a million would have had any different outcome.4 likes

Yes, you have. Completely. He was using your case to illustrate the fact that some folk can't see a problem, until it affects them. Had what happened in your case happened to them, then they may think differently!3 likes

They come later. It’s ok though, One in one out remember. So that means that we will eventually return 1000 (in the last week) and they will return 1000 to us! People actually believe this shit. Seriously, they actually do.3 likes

correct, and the fact that we got both Erhahon and Simons combined for less than we received for Thomason was the best bit of business all Summer in the EFL3 likes

Just a random bit of trivia. Olomouc is a town in the Czech Republic sponsored by the local engineering company, Sigma. It is also the site where the manufacturing of Hick Hargreaves moved to and why there is now a Sainsburys on our old site in Bolton. Due to the connection, there are many BWFC fans in Olomouc. 😊 FC Boby Brno were once in the Cup Winners Cup.😉3 likes

433 or 4231 is all we're getting from SS, and he'd be a fool to change it to 442 now, we've spent the best part of easy £5 million recruiting for 4231, he just needs to make it work. We need 2 things: - Time to gel - For our wingers to show a bit of variety. We have target men and a no 10 use them or move aside for someone who will, as we can't be playing 422.3 likes

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but the new bricks have been laid outside the main entrance. Very nice. In addition, you can collect the old bricks from outside the old ticket office windows. Just collected Dad’s. 👍2 likes

I find it baffling that a player 99% of folk on here had never heard of until a few months back, who most have still never seen play and only watched a highlight reel on YouTube (if that), and has only really played competitively in the Irish league, is somehow the saviour of our season and we should break the bank for him. If he comes, I hope you are right, but there is no guarantee that the ability you have 'seen' will be any better than what we have got and spur us on to success2 likes

Wingers on their natural sides. The two new guys in midfield. For me, their is an element of over-analysis. Doesn't have to be your 4-2-3-1. Doesn't have to have 3 at the back. If our so called number 10s aren't cutting it, then try one of the strikers in there. Call one your no 10 if it makes folk more comfortable. As those stats illustrate, we're are creating chances. Why not try a slightly different forward pairing and see if the conversion rate increases. Walker and McGinley formed a wonderful partnership, with the latter often being the supporting one. Plenty of posters have said they've been impressed by Burstow's link play too. It become too restrictive for me, to say player X can't do this, that, or the the other, especially if those that can, aren't doing.2 likes

You hear the term 1 club man thrown around. Hardly ever now but int thowden days you would. But I will put good money on that no other "1 club man" would come close to this. Assistant trainer. Chief coach. Caretaker manager x2. Manager. Chief scout. Administrative manager. Executive manager. President of the club. Btw, I never knew he had a stone in Turton.2 likes

Even though he's a bit of a "yesterdays man" I see that Mourinho has been sacked by Fenerbahce - but I wonder if any PL teams might be tempted by him (Potter and Amorim must both be close to being fired at the minute) - I'd love to see him at West Ham, as they'd absolutely fucking hate him1 like

yep international weekend is the weekend before, v Burton - so that's the game that would be called off due to call ups then that would influence if we are able to play on the Thursday - if we have players away on duty, we can't, so it goes back to the Saturday hopefully Huddersfield have enough call ups, if we don't1 like

I’m usually in agreement with you to be fair mate (not sure if that’s a good thing), and I’m not going to go full on inspector Cheese on you (he’s suspiciously quiet), but I’m sure you said after the Lincoln game something quite definitive like “they can’t play together in home games because neither are ball carriers”. Apologies if I’m wrong or over exaggerated it. You have however just said that you think the EE signing was unnecessary, which kind of again suggests the same thing - albeit appreciate you could just mean that you don’t think we needed him, rather than you’re not happy that he’s here. Anyway, difference of opinion. I think they’re our first choice centre mid partnership although swapping for Sheehan/Morley in some situations will be likely and no bad thing. I also think they’ll be a big (possibly main) part in why we’ll be promoted and consider them to be a massive upgrade on what we’ve had for the past few years. Here’s to beating Blackpool with a bit of steel in centre mid for once.1 like

Bit of a shock but 60 mill for simons !! We can't turn that down, reet now let's get a striker, a number 10 and a right back . Coyw1 like

A slight revision to 4-3-3 would make more sense than shoe horning a midfielder in to the 10 position or playing ineffective ones1 like

I don't mind so much but hope we have enough call ups next time to get that Huddersfield game back on the Saturday rather than Thursday night1 like

Obsession with Kenny, ain't happening, move on.. No way will the board allow more money for an unproven player, having spent about 4m last season on players that just aren't performing. I reckon Dan's last injury might have been one too many. Seems very odd that a player has been "written off", after a development loan last season to another League one Team. He also didn't play after his injury for Cambridge, even after recovery. It does happen and he might just want to cling on to a years pay before he goes.. Victor will be an asset when he's back. He obv bulked up for last season to play a holding role, and it affected his movement massively. As a striker he's got a 1 in four record at this level..1 like

Really glad you had a great time (other than being held back) with your other team @Leyther_Matt. PS: the Leopards weren’t bad last night, either. 😉1 like

Given that Kenny is unproven at any level beyond League of Ireland, I’d be comfortable with a loan. Of course, if he turns out to be the real deal, then we may find ourselves priced out. But if his goals take us to the Championship, the player himself might be inclined towards us.1 like

Completely depends on the players you have available. If it's a choice between 442 with Burstow dropping a bit deeper or 4231 with Randall or McAtee as the 10, I'd go 442 every day. However, my preference would be 433, again to make use of where our squad is strongest - midfield. Play 3 of our 4 mids and make it clear they need to be joining the attack.1 like

We've signed wingers this off season to allow us up play primarily a 4231. You can't play two up top with 2 wingers. Barely any team plays 442 anymore, and those that do certainly don't have two out and out wingers playing in the 4. How do you realistically expect us to line up with two forwards playing?. We've all seen enough of three at the back and wingbacks. I just don't see a world where we can play two up top from the start. Course there will be times when we are chasing the game but no way we regularly go 2 up top. You can't just not have an attacking midfielder In this set up . If mcatee and Randall aren't up to it, it'll be try someone else in the squad in the 10 for a few months, before addressing it again in January.1 like

Used to live in Nottingham. Reform took council control at the last election. Clearly they don’t like being held accountable - those patriots of free speech have now banned interactions with the local paper/reporters. Pathetic. Personal agenda here... starting off her politics in Saxony she will be anti-Russian (previous USSR occupation and all that) but as a Dutch/German will tippy toe around the Jewish issue... Not sure if there are any more squads to be announced? (eg Forino, Gale, Duberry??). England haven't announced their's yet so we might lose McAtee. I just want to know one way or t'other for making plans for that weekend.1 like
