  1. B and Q is going downhill. Last time i went in the 'friendly here to help' type person greeted me by asking if i wanted decking!

  2. certainly wrong for us.....when we concede a corner we need Gale on the left of the halfway line and ACD on the right No team are leaving them two unmarked and you can bet they would throw at least three defenders back to mark them

  3. Agreed. If every manager from Champions league to NW Counties brings 11 back for the next 20 years I'll argue it's wrong. Inviting the opposition to attack in greater numbers, and then to win most of the 2nd balls unopposed beggars belief to my (also) untrained eye. And why wouldn't you take the opportunity for a quick break by leaving ACD and Gale on the halfway line?

  4. The same Farage who claims that the UK is becoming like North Korea, and is supressing free speech, and yet the party he leads has banned Nottinghamshire Live and the Nottingham Post from speaking to the 41 Reform Councillors at Nottinghamshire County Council? And the same Nigel Farage who invited Dr Malhotra on stage last week at their Party Conference, who then proceeded to say "It's highly likely that the COVID vaccines have been a significant factor in cancer in members of the Royal Family" He's a grifting crank.....who may well be in a proper position of power in the next 2-4 years - still, like the Americans, we get what we deserve if we vote him in.

  5. I'm agreeing with each of you on this & have said it for years. The current (for some years) orthodoxy has been 'everyone back' but it means any clearance comes straight back in. It's not about the player(s) left up scoring but preventing the immediate return. Gale & Dubbery aren't defenders but will certainly be matched +1 if left up, taking 3 out of the opposition attack. Obviously, again, am unqualified comment but seems so obvious.

  9. Agree on the free kick thing. We really should've been behind early on again, was an absolute sitter. That high line just invites that kind of situation and you rarely see keepers coming out too far these days. Guess the answer is don't give away frre kicks in threatening positions 😁

  11. Another post game/week reflection. I think we all know the EFL trophy results bear little resemblance to what happens in the league. But I think the Rotherham game can be looked upon very positively this week. Winning any game breeds confidence. Lots of the squad players getting needed game time Giving Forino a run-out prior to Saturday was valuable. Getting Simons and Morley together again, it will have helped them linking up prior to Saturday considering they haven’t paired up together to start since Stockport. I can see them starting again at Orient. We had a good blend yesterday of rested players and those who benefitted from/needed game time.

  17. They certainly get enough to make them come here don't they. Enough for them to pay thousands to smugglers to get here anyway. If you cut that off at source the land of milk and honey might not seem as attractive. Risking their life by the way? Do me a favour. They aren't floating over on bits of wood ffs. High powered motorised boats that cost thousands. All shepherded in by the bloody coastguard and lifeboat crew.

  21. Maybe they should put this up on the dressing room noticeboard. Still the best part of two weeks to go and already they are ramping it up. For the pie men this is the equivalent of England v Scotland for the jocks. From the 80s onwards England wised up and started matching the Jocks for being geared up for the game. We need to do the same. And let us face it is in the home fixture where the worst embarrassments have come over the last five or six years. 22. Only my viewpoint, others are just as valid, but I'm not talking about worldies. I just mean there's a man on the edge of the box, who gets a chance to have a free pot shot at a fairly large target 18 yards away. He doesn't have to be Ronaldo to get it on target, then it's largely luck if it hits one of the 10 defenders. Alternatively just employ 1 of the 10 to mark him, then there's probably no shot to defend in the first place. So I wouldn't be saying fair enough, that was unavoidable, I'd be saying how the hell did we allow him time to shoot? In open play we'd be fuming at the lack of marking, we wouldn't be just crowding the box like a load of school kids just hoping to get in the way!

  27. It's surely going to render a lot of trades or areas of business useless sooner rather than later, which can't be good can it? Advertising, music, writing, Diet/Personal trainers etc etc. Once folk figure how to use it properly it'll kill a lot of sectors off.

  30. Unfortunately, there will always be competition for resources, what those resources are will no doubt change over time, for now energy and water are going to be the big drivers. No matter what happens, if there is something people need, then somebody will try and profit from it I'm not sure AI is going to lead us to some communist utopia where we want for nothing and everything is lovely and evenly spread. There will always be the rich, and where there are "rich" there will always be a lot more poor. I'm glad that I'll probably be dead before we get to the stage where AI is making the really important decisions (and I do think it'll happen), so I'm happy to let the next generation worry/think about that. Although, maybe not all bad news, I'm sure I heard something along the lines of 50% of all todays jobs, didn't exist 50 years ago, so maybe there will be new jobs created that we can't even fathom at the moment (such as polishing/buffing the exo-skeletons of our cyborg overlords)

  31. Short term i agree. AI undoubtedly brings opportunity, and there will always be people to take advantage of it. A small number of huge companies will profit beyond belief. I'm looking slightly longer term. We will have abundant access to every type of resource we need, and companies like Amazon simply won't exist. You'll be able to order a bespoke TV for your living room, have it made and delivered within minutes, and it likely won't cost you a penny. It will be developed in a factory that is environmentally friendly (because AI will nail that issue first), doesn't deplete our natural resources (because AI will nail that too), and be delivered to your house before you've had your breakfast. You wont need to paint or wallpaper since your AGI house buddy will do that. And if you change your mind a day later, you can change it all again. This free's you and I up to travel the world, keep fit, spend time with friends and live a more wholesome life. We'll become more creative as a species. We're effectively returning to a pre commercial world - the difference this time is that we won't need to compete for resources. I don't believe commercial organisations will be able to profit, since there wont be anything to profit from. I know you mentioned optimism. It makes me a little sad if I'm honest. I'm 47 and I love working. I'd struggle to adjust. I'm probably just about ok based on current life expectancy in that i'll be disappearing as these things start to embed as a way of life. Again, I'm happy to admit i may be a million miles wide of the mark, but i like to think that by pushing the boundaries of what is and isn't possible, it might make me slightly better prepared. And isn't the unknown part of the fun in life. Anyway, probably one to discuss over a beer

  33. Nobody truly knows the end game. It will reveal itself organically over time. You're right though. We're fast moving to a genuine post scarcity model and AI will certainly speed this along. Once we get to that point, humanity will start looking for alternative meaning beyond work. We currently work to survive, but we won't need to at some point very soon. Houses will be built for us, shopping will be done for us, healthcare will be provided by non humans. We will likely all be paid some sort of Universal Basic Income too, but far beyond what we earn today and more than enough to live better than most wealthy people currently do. We'll need to find meaning from other sources. This change will happen far quicker than any previous revolution (in fact this will be the final revolution). I know some people can't get their head around it, but imagine meeting a family member in 1900 and telling them about mobile phones, social media, 7 hour flights to New York and so on - they'd have thought you were mad. Only difference here is that this will all likely happen in the next 10-20 years. There will be huge instability in the short term though, as some experience unemployment before others, whilst some parts of the world adapt to AI and it's advances quicker than others. I hope Governments are able to effectively legislate quickly so that we can manage this shift. In the hands of bad actors, AI is a huge problem. If we retain control, it can advance us as a species and allow us to live more fulfilling lives. All just my opinion of course (albeit i am fascinated by it and have read quite a lot around AI). Oh. AI could also be the thing that ends humanity. But i'll save that for another day 🙂

  34. Enjoyed that. Some lovely stuff played and decent performances all over the pitch. That goal-kick by TSL was obscene. Must have punted that about 75 yards! We played with decent energy and I'm not actually sure the red card helped us that much. I think 11v11 being a goal up, we'd pick them off with ease if they came at us, but they had to just sit-in and stay in the game as long as possible Shit about McAtee getting dogs abuse from people in the crowd while the game's going on, but to be expected with some of our fans

  36. Me too and the change has been noticeable. Even checkout chicks have reverted to their former pleasant selves and I believe that Nerf Super Soaker shootings have subsided. Every man and his dog knew how important UK tourism and residencia is to Spain - especially in this neck of the woods. Latched on pretty quickly that cutting off your nose to spite your face was a stupid policy - mainly driven by rent a mob types from Barcelona and copycats.

  43. This might not get any traction given it could be buried, might only be for Salford residents- but if you could sign this it would be a massive boost. In a nutshell, we’re a club with fuck all, nestled in the arse crack of Salford, Bolton and to a lesser extent Wigan. Going 30+ years and constantly overlooked, more favourable areas seem to do ok… but I’m not mixing politics and football Imagine how good Joel Coleman could’ve been if he had decent facilities? Cheers guys https://northwalkdenfc.org.uk/news/campaign-a-new-home-for-north-walkden-fc

  44. You're gradually taking over from Lusty as the football neg head! Rebuilding, trialing, call it what you want, but he has to be judged later. Southgate became an Evatt unfortunately, and now it's another bloke's chance. Nothing to write home about, but they're winning. Bit of a reverse of what SS season had been up until this week. I'm sure the bloke will sort out his team in time, and we will simply have to get behind them at the world cup. As we do every time.
