  1. It’s not glass half full, it’s a fact. Nobody is making it sound like we’re cruising to promotion, we’re not and it’s unlikely that we will. We are 2nd in the form table over both the last 5 games and also 10 - considering that includes games against Bradford, Huddersfield, Luton, Cardiff and Wigan, I’d say we’ve done pretty well and have improved - it’s the first 6/7 games that mean we’re not top of the league. On paper, our next 10 games are nowhere near as difficult. My prediction is that we’ll be in the top 2 after Wigan away.

  2. Thoroughly good day out. Really enjoying being a Bolton fan at the moment. What it’s all about.

  3. Nobody wants him to fail. If he fails we fail. he’s returning exactly what his career stats say he would return.

  4. It's not taken Dempsey long to cement his place in this team 2 goals in 3 league games, and playing really well

  5. The problem isn't just inaction though, it's purposefully burying issues, intimidating people attempting to highlight them and blatantly misleading people with misinformation. This is not incompetence it's corruption on a grand scale.

  6. We were second best for 90% of the game. The way the match panned out I was happy with the draw. I reckon Wiltshire could make a good manager one day. First time to Luton for me. The day turned out to be a unexpected good one. Kenilworth Rd was a trip back in time. Everything about the ground and the location screamed Life On Mars. And I say that in a good way. Brought back memories.

  10. To be fair, that’s essentially what he’s doing. Gale’s generally been our first choice left winger - he’s been injured and Tutu is his replacement. Tutu is perfectly good enough as a back up winger in a L1 team.

  12. Jesus wept. Dalby's been unlucky in the timing of his injury / missing pre-season / Burstow's performances restricting him to cameos. Plus the game situation on a few of the recent times he has got on hasn't suited - he wins his fair share of headers but nobody anywhere near him to pick up the pieces. Lad'll be desperate to impress and stake his claim, and that probably doesn't help. I reckon he'll be fine, just needs a little patience. That said, I'd want to see him grab the chance Tuesday / next week when he should get back-to-back starts.

  13. One of our best players yesterday. As always a great balance on that side. Had the better of his FB One assist and should have been two.

  15. As above, it's the way we seem to play on that side. I'm sure that SS is happy for him to be a "modern" full back, and look to go forward as a first thought. You would expect him to drop off if he is getting done the same way, and his fellow defenders to tell him, as well as the manager. No doubt he can improve, but it's as if it's a risk SS is happy for us to take. If he does drop a little, and cut down the space, then his winger must also drop, and perhaps the manager doesn't see this as the best way for us to approach things. Taylor isn't getting a sniff, so SS must be happy with things, and he must see what is happening. Playing the percentages perhaps. Will be interesting to see if it gets better when Gale is back. Maybe his extra pace will give an option and help ease any pressure on the full back- has the weakness got worse since Gale's injury?

  16. And I totally agree with you about Danny Thommo and his ilk......they're not patriots just attention seeking grifters

  17. And this isn't a personal dig at you but if we weren't spunking millions up the wall on keeping people who have no real reason or right to be here in hotels we might have a bit more spare to implement your suggestions......obviously we wouldn't because even stupid Turkeys don't vote for Christmas . The whole system in this country is infested with paedophilia but that doesn't mean we should welcome anymore enthusiasts from third world countries. Edit.......saw your post above where we have some common ground 👍

  18. And people are focusing on them because they are being allowed unvetted, are taking up millions of tax payers money and all this while this country is going to the dogs. Some people think they are the whole problem, some people think they aren't a problem at all......the majority feel they shouldn't be a problem at all because they shouldn't be here. They don't see families of these 'immigrants ' walking amongst them every day, they see young fighting age men who whether they meant be or not are intimidating when hanging around in groups. Serious question......when fleeing their own countries why do they seem to flee alone? Their treatment here compared to the Windrush generation who came here to work and be proud members of our community is staggering.........if unfortunately unsurprising .

  19. But back to the 'immigrants ', they are no such thing, they are economic migrants who have passed through places of safety because they will get far more given to them here here than anywhere else .

  20. How does it make it harder? Governing parties on all sides continue to shy away from tackling grooming gangs , religious figures from all sects, the institution that is the BBC , fellow politicians , certain members of the Royal family.... in fact virtually anyone connected with the sexual abuse of minors......Judges handing down pathetic sentences for the most abhorrent crimes. Nothing can make it harder if those that are meant to protect and represent us do nothing in the first place until their hand is forced........and let's not pretend that we don't know why that is.

  23. The best thing Dalby has done for us so far is get injured in pre-season. Had he been fit for the opener, we wouldn't have signed Burstow.

  24. I’m not disputing they are similar regarding stats. dalby is 42 in 227 games Burstow 27 in 130 (think this is wrong mind as it included youth / prem 2 I think) Burstow is better with forss imo. Likewise imo dalby hasn’t done anything of note bar the Huddersfield goal. ultimately it doesn’t matter what I think just trying to show folk don’t want him to fail but on evidence so far he’s not what we need. Fingers crossed a big week for him gets him firing.

  26. Pretty much where I am at 👍 It’s great that we have good options in many positions. I liked George Johnston’s comments this week that we could almost field two competitive sides in league one!

  27. I don't have any opinion on who should start on the left wing, its all much of a muchness, but I'd be surprised if Tutu doesn't start the next league game. I'm basing that on him reportedly playing decent yesterday and getting an assist, and nearly another, in a team when wingers crossing accurately to teammates doesn't come around all that often. If Gale starts fine, but I'd be surprised as it seems nailed on that Gale will start at least one of the cup games (assuming fit enough).

  28. This works both ways! If you say I’m wrong I’m going to come back and argue otherwise if I think I’m right, especially when I’m basing some of my positive debate on fact! And you’ll never stop me calling out negativity (doom mongering just another term for this) I think is wrong! (“We’ll lose, such a body isn’t good enough/shouldn’t start, we’re going to be also-rans this season, this is just an Evatt team” etc) But yes of course it’s all opinion. Opinion I’m happy to argue for/against - that’s why we’re here!

  30. My little bit of AI searching is all I’ve seen, so unless someone quotes or knows something else, Vertu trophy is separate (so Simons isn’t banned for this) but FA cup does count (so he can serve his one match suspension next Saturday) All good if it means he can play in the next league game

  32. You like to follow this idea that I watch “L1 football” to call people out on the internet 😂 What I am, is a pretty positive yet realistic BWFC fan who is quick to jump on folk who I feel are overly negative, especially those who are so assured in their claims that their negative opinion is right or fact. And if disproving the doom-mongers and being correct aligns with Bolton getting promoted then all is good 😁👍

  33. Absolutely, that's what he does. He will have to be careful though, as he has started a degree of alienation from Europe that is directly affecting his defence industry. I think his legitimate push for Europe to chip more in re defence spending, has also opened some eyes as to what his motives might be directly with regards to Ukraine and Russia. Some uncomfortable revelations about his entourage and their relationship with Russian individuals don't make for good reading. He is also losing support at home. Many of them actually support Ukraine and want America to do more. Then there is the business of the Trump watches that haven't materialised, and the crypto crap that has seen the value plunge, which has furrowed the brow of many an investor. As much as I think he's done some good things for his nation: immigration, a resetting of trade deals for example, I suspect there are revelations that whilst not likely to cause his direct demise from office, are likely to strongly weaken his support. Should this happen, then his Maga movement will quickly look to move on to a successor.

  34. Anyone who'd willingly watch League One football for the sake of being 'correct' on the internet (we're all just guessing based off limited knowledge, even when you're 'right' it's probably just luck) is obviously mental. However, your debate with masi is probably a moot point because my guess is Tutu won't start the majority of our games from this point.

  38. Agree with that. Apart from one or two, it’s as equally absurd to say one player must start to completely dismissing others. “Gale has to start” to “Tutu should be nowhere near our best 11” are both extremes which at this point are wrong IMO. Same with Christie and Cogley.

  39. There is saying that ‘time in the market is more important than timing’ FTSE is up 48.4% in last 5 years, despite Covid, Ukraine, cost of living, terrible Governments etc etc. Although that level of growth is unlikely to be maintained as long as you were in for that period you have that growth banked. Someone starting today has a long way to catch up.

  42. I'd like him to post a graph of sexual crimes committed per capita based on nationality from the last few years. Maybe he could do it for those in Sweden, Germany etc as a bonus. It probably won't include the grooming gangs and is most likely the fault of Danny or Tommy or Dan & Tommo ... those who I apparently march with.

  44. Great start, goal was a proper team move with some quality from Tutu and Dempsey picking up those positions where the opposition can’t pick him up. I had it on the Luton commentary and they were seriously concerned at how easily we opened them up. Then it all changed. They had the next 75 mins of the game. Not a battering by any means (up until the sending off) but they were in the driving seat. Centre backs were brilliant again, TSL was assured. Full backs were gash, both of them. The centre backs bailed them out time and time again. Simons had a good game in midfield (never a red - first yellow was harsh, second wasn’t even a foul) and Dempsey had a brilliant first half but ineffective second. Morley was generally a waste of space and left us seriously short in midfield - they over ran us and he added nothing. Burstow is struggling. He’s more isolated without Forss close to him and is out of form. Nothing stuck, he rarely found a white shirt and doesn’t currently look a goal threat (I’m a big fan, I just think he’s out of form). Problem is, Dalby looks anything but a capable replacement. I wouldn’t be disappointed to see him start up top v Mansfield with Burstow rested but it’s more out of hope than anything I’ve seen of him. If we’d have nicked a win then it was true smash and grab. A point away at Luton is a good result, regardless - if we follow it up with wins against Mansfield and Exeter then the last 2 draws turn into really good results. Biggest question mark for me is waiting until the 73rd minute to make the first change. That game was crying out to be switched up and shored up from about the 55th minute - I’ve no idea why he took so long. Did it cost us, not sure you can say that, but it didn’t help. We’re still going up.

  45. Disappointed tbh Got to be careful how I phrase this, but I thought it was a dreadful reaction from Schumacher to the red card. The one ‘shoring’ option was Erhahon coming on for one of the wingers and have Duberry/Forss/McAtee running about in the gap between the front man and the midfield, but he came on for Dempsey and at that point we were always hanging on at best. I thought back to the amount of times we’ve played against 10 and barely noticed the difference, whereas that just seemed to set us up for failure. One to learn from, hopefully. Game really should have been out of sight when Duberry hit the side of my head instead of the back of the net. Staggered to see criticism of Cogley on social media. Absolutely imperious at times, especially one particular piece of defending in the box first half, and offered so much more energy than Christie. Pre match would have been a good point, but I’m glad Schumacher seems to be similarly disappointed with the circumstances. Good to see @jazza, @leighwhites, @jules_darby and @marple whites Fair to say we had a worm’s eye view on row 2, but the safe standing made things miles more organised than last time
