Sam Dalby. The man was possessed today, one of the best striker performances I’ve seen for us in ages. Hold up play, link up play, winning duels, getting us up the pitch, threat from set pieces/crosses & even having the awareness to set up McAtee when he was on a hat trick. Brilliant.

That’s kind of the point. It’s no coincidence that Dalby’s renaissance has coincided with McAtee’s upturn in form. It’s almost as if two players with differing styles can actually complement each other.

One thing that really impresses me about Dalby is his temperament. Would be so easy for him to get pissed off with all the pushing and shirt pulling on him, and getting nothing from the referee. But he never looks flustered or looks like he’d get booked for dissent or giving verbals to shit referees, just gets on with it.

Second half gave people on social media something to moan about at least.

Fair play to McAtee. Looked like his days were numbered but he's dug in, clearly lost a bit of timber, sharpened his act up and played himself into the team. Runs his socks off and clearly cares. Rather him than some fucker like Gale who clearly has all the talent but would rather sulk.

I actually think we wouldnt have had half the strife we did in that second half if Sheehan was on the pitch.

After what I heard from the Wrexham fans when we bought him, this part of his game has really impressed and surprised me. They were adamant he wasn’t a target man. Well how wrong they were, that was absolutely SKD esque. Well played young Sam 👏

Gives them a boost, but keep out heads for the next 10 minutes and we're back on easy street. Instead we go into panic mode and it's 3-2 and nervy as fuck. it was a very sad day for me last week but I actually ended up agreeing with Martin Samuel on something. He referred to the ‘old days’ saying sometimes teams used to just have bad seasons. Then go again in the next. Nowadays no one is allowed to have a bad season anymore and blood needs spilling virtually on a game by game basis. Mad thing with our booing (never been for me) is we’re third and on a promotion charge. It’s hard to understand. I appreciate folk are entitled to their opinions and I think no differently for those that do it. I just don’t get it.

You could be right , I dunno what his attitude is but he looked well up for it for 60 mins . His press was great first half and I think hed just burned out after an hour .

How good was Dalby, I reckon he won 80% plus every long ball sent up to him. Accused him previously of looking more like a long distance runner than a target man, and happy to be completely wrong. Blackett Taylor looks a big upgrade on Gale in the flesh. And Apter will win us some points along the way Lots to be happy about, 3 points, an unreal first half performance, and them lot getting banged 6-1. Time for a 3 degree cold n gold. Coywm!

Echoes of the play off tie a couple of years ago, all rolled in to one. Absolutely irresistible in the first half and the start of the second, then concede to a deflected pot shot and the world collapses. Managed to get through it with the win and could potentially be a season defining win. Dalby an absolute warrior up top again.

A 'football, bloody hell' sort of day that, should have been 6 up, ended up scrapping for it. We were as good as they were woeful first half, sensed it might be different after HT with all their changes and pride to play for. First half MoM Dalby (still good 2nd half), second half MoM Forino, tremendous defending when it got hairy. Gale as a like for like sub in that scenario was very risky, we might as well have played the last 20 with 10

On another note I thought we 100% missed Sheehan in that 2nd half, and at Wimbledon, he was exactly the ingredient that was missing, the ability to remain calm, keep possession and to create opportunities. First name on teamsheet in midfield at Lincoln if fit for me.

Gale's had a cob on since that early hooking and was pathetic today, scared of getting anywhere near the ball or any physical contact and, on the couple of occasions he touched the ball, wasted it. We were a bit thin on options to bring on today in that sort of circumstances

I’m on a Sam Dalby love-in tonight. 100% agree on this. For the shirt-pulling and fouls against he gets, he never complains (perhaps he should!) and remains focused and resolute. It was a fantastic forwards display from him today

Would he? What did he do today that was so good? First half he was fucking dreadful He scored a deflected shot. That's it. Plays the simple ball every time. He's hyped up every time we play them and makes no difference. He's fucking shit and he can stay there. The former Bolton player that a actually made a difference was Ogbeta. He had a good game when he came on made a big difference. Put some great balls in.

You spelt Dalby wrong. Feel much happier with an old head in the nets, instead of that wet wipe TSL. Bonham made some great saves today.

Been one of his biggest critics but first half was best he's played since Birmingham last season, showed he can be effective just off a big man and close to others who want to join in around the edge of their box. His problem's always been fitness and fading after 70 mins or so. He wasn't alone though, which was the issue as we ended up grinding it out. Apter drifted out of it, which caused Tutu to struggle against Ogbeta (who did quite well for them), and Erhahon, not for the first time, was plodding by 65-70 minutes. The conundrum with us is we're good at keeping at it to score late winners when the game's panning out like that but not so good at resisting teams who come at us in a sustained way in a second half.

We said it a couple of times today, especially that little touch he did out wide to get himself enough space from the defender and play Apter back in.

Anyone spot their no.5. come over to the coach in the dugout whilst they were waiting for us to come back out for the second half? The coach was trying to teach him how to defend against Dalby - I could almost lip read him say as he came over that he doesn’t know how to deal with him. First time I’ve seen someone literally get coached how to defend mid game - says a lot about Dalby though, he absolutely destroyed that lad. I was very surprised to see him come out for the second half.

Just back .Well that was harder than it should have been 3-0 and coasting to 3-2 and shitting myself 1st half outstanding,2nd half they came out with nothing to lose, lucky deflection for there 1st Crowd excellent Mom Dalby closely followed by Bonham 2 belting saves

Personally with the second half performance I dont think SS reacted quick enough . They doubled up on their left realising that Tutu wasnt getting any protection from Apter . Macatee looked cream crackered after 60 mins and bringing Simons on seemed to unstable us a bit rather than strengthening us . Gale should have bust a gut for 25 mins but didnt at all and can look very lazy . Ref let loads go for both sides in the first half then turned into the spawn of satan in the second missing every foul from them for 35 mins , a blatant penalty to us and the keeper catching outdie the box for a red card. Also the drop ball late on on the edge of our box was bollocks . Dalby MOTM , some great saves from a solid looking keeper , Dempsey did really well ratting about infront of the midfield . Burstow looked handy when he came on and some great individual performances in defence . Had a feeling of Watford away so ecstatic with 3 points . week off before a big six pointer .

He doesnt look interested, really lazy and not a team player. Still reacting to the peterborough sub maybe, but h3 doesnt deserve his place atm.

Must win at Lincoln now if we want to have any chance of unseating them.

These Olympics always remind me of probably my darkest ever time. Totally consumed with alcohol and painkillers after my ankle break. In a rut of staying up all night and being riddled with panic and anxiety all day. The Winter Olympics was on through the night and became a godsend. We won gold in Skeleton Bobsleigh at 3am or something daft and I'd already nailed every bit of alcohol I could find. I rummaged through all the cupboards and found a dusty old bottle of champagne we'd been given for our wedding about 8 years earlier. Perfect way to celebrate. Warm stale champers popped for a gold medal. Woke up with the wife calling me a fuckin scumbag as she went to work. Bad times

Potential for a bit of movement at the top end of the league today. You’d expect us, Huddersfield and Stockport to all win our home games (Stockport possibly with the hardest vs Orient). Luton v Bradford - ideally a draw so that the gap to 7th widens and Bradford continue to drop away. If there’s going to be a win then I’d expect Luton (which isn’t the worst thing as I can’t see us being in danger of dropping out of the play offs). Cardiff and Lincoln have tricky away games. Rotherham are in a bit of form with 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 and although Plymouth lost last time out at Stockport, they’d only lost 1 of their previous 10. I think there’s a good chance of at least one of them drawing, possibly even a loss. Prediction is that come this evening the gap to the top 2 has closed a bit (and Bradford continue to slide). Caveat - I’m shit at betting
