  1. Owen Coyle shining like a ……….light ! Happy days .
  2. Two lots of fans in there coppers in the middle , reckon the central group are the away fans & the ones at the bottom home fans waiting for numbers to attack . Then again maybe not , interesting most are facing the wrong way . I’ll go Barnsley.
  3. This , and as Pablo alluded to a spineless performance at Chelsea in the final game when Player manager Vialli brought himself on in the second half knowing he wasn’t going to be kicked up in the air by our team . An Allardyce team would have got a result that day no doubt in my mind.
  4. Well with Forrester now out for a month we will definitely miss Gethin Jones . Maybe some loan cover required ?
  5. As an afterthought ticket chicanery has been a feature of football life for ever. I remember the ’ Executive Suite’ at Burnden , what a fucking group of hangers on they were , I worked with a guy who never ever paid for a ticket all the time I knew him . As for away matches it was just as corrupt then as it is now , I guess it’s just life . Got invited many times as a freebie to the ‘ Excutive Suite ‘ but always refused . I Know , but I really did prefer the Burnden Paddock no bullshit.
  6. Was going to take my grandson to his first away day , given that I don’t travel to many these days . When I got word that only 1460 ish tickets were available ( given my expectation was many more ) I decided not to bother , believe it or not based on the fact that I might be depriving the ‘hard core ‘ of tickets . Naive maybe , but just an appreciation of the hard miles our away support puts in . Maybe Derby then ?
  7. Maghoma was a passenger first half but second half much better Bringing Iredale on as left CB helped Ashworth deal better with their attacker & shifted Toal over to the right were he is much more comfortable no negative reflection on Forrester who was decent. Thomason was great , but Vic was a revelation, receiving the ball much earlier suits him & his close control has improved exponentially, he was much better than Dion tonight. Disallowed goal was a sickener , but in the end the defeat might be a blessing.
  8. If it’s who I think it is he’s originally from Horwich & a lifelong Wanderer , same vintage as myself . RIP big fella.
  9. Must recruit their journos from a Neanderthal gene pool.
  10. That AC/DC track before ko does my head in , impossible to join in that song without risking a hernia . As an old school rocker I ‘d go for Let’s work together by Canned Heat .
  11. Played in the 1970 World Cup semi final v Italy with his arm in a sling , might be wrong but I think it was a dislocated shoulder , he was actually injured in that game but stayed on the field in an epic game that Italy won 4-3 .
  12. Pure class , had it all , apart from being German ! RIP kaiser chief.
  13. More like twenty years ago , couldn’t get the funding apparently even though it is a compelling story . If it had been about the Mancunian mutnitions workers the money men would have been all over it.
  14. Agree with this but maybe a left footer to give us balance at CB not sure Iredale is consistent enough to be honest.
  15. Not Carlisle then 😃 Terry Hennessy & possibly Frank McClintock in that picture , but doesn’t look like Nottingham Forest . The big bruiser winning the header I recognise but can’t remember his name. three tier stand ? picture might be wrong way around ? Everton .
  16. I was on there FA cup semi Everton v Stretford (top photo!) fourteen yrs old ,never felt the ground coming off , wedged in at shoulder height moving with the throng . Good result though.
  17. Very sad RIP fellow Wanderer.
  18. Expecting a high level of shithousery from Burton , timewasting par excellence, might need some patience & we know our crowd sometimes don’t help with their hoof it up comments. Any win please , maybe a game for Maghoma ?
  19. Think we’ve debated this before Bolty , it was my first away game as well 1964 .I don’t think Dawson was playing for Bury then but for PNE , we did lose 2-1 & I think a young Colin Bell played for them. Strangely enough my second away game was at Deepdale an FA cup replay a year later were Dawson scored the winner for them & we lost 3-2. A wall also collapsed on their kop , 34k on. Cant remember my third away match but we probably lost !
  20. Vela’s debut against Everton was a cause for optimism, although at the time still a teenager . There was a rumour circulating at the time that Liverpool had offered 1 million for him sometime previously. Honestly felt he would be a star midfielder in the future but alas never happened for him . Parkinson did get a tune out of him & his assassination sliding tackles were a thing of beauty, when penalties weren’t conceded . Could & should have done much better.
  21. A midfielder in his reserve appearances, pretty good as well . However he was drafted into the first team squad as a full back . Still mystifies me to this day.
  22. He always reminded me of Freddie Hill , similar gait , shocked when Greaves tried him at Full-back but heyho he played centre-back for York City ! He played along side Neil Warnock at Notts County & described Warnock as the dirtiest player he’d ever seen.
  23. Cracker that , some Facebook jokers were claiming it was Roots Hall !
