  1. Sure I saw him play left back.
  2. What happens if 3 clubs go belly up before the new season starts? Entirely possible
  3. There will be a few writs flying around if teams are relegated on PPG if it wasn't in the rules at the start of the season.
  4. The key is how soon the deaths/positives fall to a really low level. There too much of a risk doing anything if they don't.
  5. How does a football match get round the group of 10 rule? It's a non-starter.
  6. There would be uproar from a lot of teams if the season ended as is. So it will be called null and void. If we start in L1, we will almost certainly be on -12.
  7. I think that I remember reading a long time ago that we tried to sign Edwards but he opted for United.
  8. Never hung back on a tackle. When he came in people thought he would do better than he did. How many came to us via the Dudley scout? Roy Hartle, Dennis Stevens, Sam Allardyce are 3 that spring to mind.
  9. Anyway, putting 18 yos in the team in L2 in physical positions like centre half is a non starter. No matter how good they are. Different at 21.
  10. It takes a while for players to come through. It's not long ago that a fair few were saying that Chris Basham and Aaron Mooy were at Blackpool and St. Mirren respectively for a reason. Anyway, if you don't give plsyers a chance it's more than likely they won't make the grade.
  11. The u-23s were a beautifully coached team (by Lee) 2 years ago when they won the national league. Unfortunately the pass and move football was totally at odds with the Parkinson lump it style. The good players were never given a sniff of 1st team football by Parkinson and we have a lousy record of bringing through our own. 20 mins now and then in a failing team wouldn't have made much difference. 18 yos straight into the league doesn't strike me as a winning formula, remember early season? And trying out overseas players/non leaguers should be a key for us and the u-23s are the means to do this. So sorry Tobias, this is a daft idea.
  12. I thought we'd made a fair bit out of selling Holding and Clough. £5m? The problem with academy graduates, etc. atm is that we got rid of most of our u-23s at the end of last season. 2 years ago the u23s were a handy team. So we are a bit short of players at that level. I don't think we give players long enough post academy.
  13. Another fortune spent on lawyers and a huge waste of money for football.
  14. Funny that the Bristol Rovers manager and Appleton at Lincoln said that they didn't expect us to be down there for long as we had quite a few "Championship" players. Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but we have vastly underperformed.
  15. Look the Bolton goal-keeping coaches used to reckon Jussi wasn't up to it. Keeps take time to mature and even then make mistakes occasionally.
  16. Would have put the experienced man Hobbs on to organise the defence and see out the game. That is if really fit.
  17. He's got a lot of experience in recruiting managers. Macc' have had a new one every 3 months.
  18. What's happened to the state of the art Ricoh Arena?
  19. Peop[e always remember Frank Worthington for his Ipswich goal, but I remember him mid seventies on a windy cold day at Boundary Park when he didn't give the ball away once. Superb close control.
  20. Funny how 3 defenders in our best performance of the season away at Bristol Rovers are no longer with the club/deemed surplus. It's only Zouma's first season in league football ffs. Anyway player recruitment is not my big concern, it's how the team is set up and organised. I think there's a few out there who could do a much better job on that.
  21. That u23 team that won the National League was very well coached by Lee albeit not at a first team level.. Hill makes a continual point about not having the players but the ones put out every week seem poorly organised.
  22. You've got to give promising youngsters a season before you can properly judge them.
  23. Just remember him as the prime exponent of the through ball. The player running on to it never had to break stride the pace on it was so perfect. It made a lot of goals for the like of Francis Lee and also made wingers like Brian Birch and Pilks look twice the players they were.
  24. Started to have my doubts about Hill as a team builder when the only players he criticised in public were ones that he hadn't brought in e.g. Zouma and Weir. He should be building players confidence not destroying it. the comment that Lincoln have much better players than us is a prime example.
