An old school mate has just completed 28yrs service in the navy today. This is his view on the submarine attack. (Obviously I commentated with a load of rainbow  emojis 🌈

I am certainly not against the intervention against the Iranian regime, and they have certainly not been on the right side of international law. They have funded drone attacks against the Royal Navy through the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea and their regime is one that is not good for international cohesion. The thought of 80 sailors losing their life to a torpedo attack in international waters makes me feel a little bit sick though. They are not responsible for the actions of their government, joined their military due to a sense of immense pride instilled in their education system, but probably had no warning, some would have been in bed, eating, praying, calling home, and after listening to multiple accounts of survivors during the Falklands, coupled with picturing the faces of shipmates, I just feel like the ship could have been disabled without loss of life.

    The massive fanny😀

They've got enough money to sort themselves out.

Aye. And I don’t remember any of them going balls deep with the Falklands.

In fact the Israelis were selling the Argies weapons during the conflict. So we owe them sweet fuck all.

Then we're a nation of cowards and wet wipes.

Get National Service back from 14. TMJ can run it free of charge.

We should be fighting at least a war a year.

Who cares if those orchestrating it are committing ethnic cleansing, or run by a total mad man. Fuck it join in, we still need to show a backbone.

    Rule Britannia

I reckon TMGJ has a flag business to wrap the coffins in at Brize Norton

Which they aren't being allowed to do.

None of them are "canon fodder" neither. We don't treat our servicemen that way.

Anyone that joins nevertheless understands that there may be times when they have to fight.

This isn't about kissing Trump's arse, but about defending nations around Iran, its people, as well as our own.

Too many looking at it through Trump hate spectacles, which whilst understandable, doesn't reveal the full picture.

Why the fuck should we be defending Israel and the Gulf States?

Similarly, should we be in Ukraine too?

Do people actually think the US is going for Iran because of Terrorism?

    Actually?

Will UK troops going to Iran stop arena bombings and knife attacks on our shores?

Will it fuck, it'd make it worse.

Just let the yanks twat the fuckers. They really don't need us.

    In one.

    Why is it?

That terrorism is here, on our streets.

    In various guises.

Even if it is felt we've haven't can't offer much in terms of offensive effort, then having naval cover as protection should be the minimum.

That terrorism has seen many thousands killed internally.

That terrorism is and has been missiles capable of striking Europe, and the will to use them.

What on earth is weird about wanting to stop that, and protect others and ourselves?

Anything else is fingers in the ears indifference at best, and appeasement at worst.

Take it you’re encouraging your lad to join up then?

Or it’s just others folks kids who should be killed?

Like I said, it’s fucking weird.

Jesus, 3 shot down to friendly fire in such a short period is unprecedented. I would not want to be the air defence commander on the other end of the phone to whichever US official calls them about this!

Well at least it’s their own lads they are shooting down and not ours

Dear me, this is a huge conflict.

The damage Iran has achieved is minimal when looking the the number of missiles and drones they had.

Trump warned they would suffer casualties, and so far they have been very small.

It's been months, if not years in the planning, with remarkable levels of intelligence available.

Obviously, there will always be some aspects that could have been done better, but war isn't a precise science, where numbers always add up.

The continued sardonic comments are somewhat ignorant, and are without doubt largely based on the fact that Trump is the President.

The bloke is a cunt, but it is vital to take personal views out of it when making assessments.

So yes, it's actually going pretty well all things considered.

Trump is a massive cunt. Correct

You seriously think an addled cunt like that won’t leave an absolute shitshow and power vacuum behind?

    It’ll be fucked for years.

    One things for sure

This was entirely about regime change.

Lets hope they’ve considered all the angles because a massive power vacuum has just appeared and we all know how well that can go.

Aye. And absolutely fuck all to do with oil.

So fucking predictable. As will be the inevitable shitshow that follows.

  10. And the cost of energy?

All run by companies whose main goal is to maximise profits for shareholders.

Maybe the Tories privatising everything they could get their grubby fucking hands on wasn't such a great idea afterall.

Current  labour government policy is to accelerate net zero initiatives which are contributing to the UK having some of the highest industrial energy prices in the world. Manufacturing sectors which have high energy requirements are increasing uncompetitive, the Chemical sector in the UK has already been very adversely affected. Jobs will continue to be lost.

The end of new licences in the North Sea is contributing to the continuing loss of jobs in the oil sector (we seem to be OK with paying for gas from the Norwegian sector of the North Sea).

As well as the lost jobs, many of them skilled and well paid, we are reducing out ability to export and increasing our need to import energy and industrial products.

Our mishandling of North Sea oil and gas predates Starmer by absolutely decades.

Well, Reform and Labour have said they're the problems to everything so who else would they realistically vote for?

Aye. They seriously expecting Muslims to vote for them?

It will be interesting to see what demands the local electorate start making

A very dark day for British democracy, extremists on the left and right with their false promises. Sectarianism and "family voting" widespread.

We will now see after the May elections a leadership challenge with the excereable Starmer being replaced by someone worse from the so called "soft left". In reality left wing extremists driving any remaining manufacturing into oblivion and bankrupting our pubs, restaurants and cafes.

Aye, because the Labour movement was brought about with the intention of destroying industry and manufacturing

The clue is in the name.
