  1. Having heard him on Undr The Cosh, reckon I’d probably really enjoy seeing Kevin Lynch (the ref). Tells a great story.
  2. We used to “frequent” the website in our office at the time, but none of us had the balls to actually visit. Always remember the site had some top drawer girls on there. Just Googled it and apparently the bloke who put the site together for Sandys also got sent down!
  3. You would think with it sharing an island with a huge tourist destination, that the world ‘might’ have a vested interest in it calming down.
  4. Whatever happened to “George” and his punting stories? And more so what happened to Sandys? Did anyone ever go? Read that it finally got closed down after a huge surveillance op.
  5. Night and Day cafe in Manchester finally won its battle with the apartments next door (built after the venue) – over the noise, etc. Roll on The Crooks in May!!
  6. Currently eating everything that’s not nailed down in our house. Today is ground zero. Need to curb it! Probably get back on MyFitnessPal again. Definitely worked last month or so.
  7. Went to the “theatre” last night, was actually the Octagon to see “Something About George”. Live band with story telling about George Harrison. Was really good. Band were tight as fuck. However, seats behind us, some bloke was squeaking his trainer against the seat in front, only for a couple of songs, but enough to make you wanna turn around and smack the fidgety fuck. That said, he stopped after a few folk gave him “the look”. Same fuckwit also thought it was great to finish off sentences, questions, etc from the lead singer when he was telling stories, muttering out facts, etc.
  8. Soup Dragson - round 2 - Hebden Bridge Trades Club in May. Anyone been to the venue?
  9. Got the Manchester Marathon in 4 weeks. My ankle is still not right. Did a few short runs last week in Dharamshala and another in Doha (ok, thought I’d drop in some places!!). Plus a couple of mountain hikes. Had a go at 8 miles this morning back home in the mud and puddles, was ok. I’m so far off the pace now though, been online to see if I can cancel or defer and I’ve missed the deadline. I’ll either do the right thing and bag it off (not that interested TBF)….. or just rock up and have a crack without much hope of finishing.
  10. Did the Goyt Valley Challenge last year (marathon distance). It was organised by the LDWA - Long Distance Walkers Assoc. So half the field walked, half ran. TBF, some of the really experience walkers are incredibly fast. I reckon one of them came in less than an hour behind me, having walked the full route. At one point I ran past him with about 5 miles to go (he’d started an hour before me). But then as we climbed a hill he came powering past me. Insane!
  11. Download “Appy Hour” app, I think it’s called. Basically tells you which pubs are doing 2 for 1. And that way you can do a pub crawl that’s not too expensive. Be prepared to pay £20 for soup! We did a whale watching trip - saw dolphins but no whales. Also did the Gulfoss waterfall & geysers trip, which I’d recommend. Blue Lagoon on the way back to airport.
  12. Funnily enough, just listening to Whitelands on Spotify, believe they supported? Did you catch them? I’ve got Liam Gallagher & John Squire - Apollo - March Pastel - Band on the Wall - May The Crooks – Night & Day – May Stiff LIttle Fingers, The Damned & The Skids - Belfast Custom House - August Ride - New Century - September Also trying to fit in Jane’s Addiction, but they play in Manchester when I’m away, so might have to do Dublin or London. Plus Buffalo Tom, either in London or Glasgow later in the year, hoping they chuck in Manchester or Leeds whilst they are here, if not, will have to travel.

    Krakow

Auschwitz is good. We booked the tour with English speaker in advance of our visit. And then took a local bus from Krakow (was all badged up as going to Auschwitz). Much cheaper than a fully organised trip. Also did the Salt Mines (highly recommend and book in advance). Did a Segway tour around the city (good way to see places you wanna wander to on foot later on). Castle and river are decent. Plenty of restaurants in and around the main square. Get on the Krupnik. Fantastic drink.
  14. Navalny is a good 90 minutes watch. (No spoilers!) (was on BBC - Storyville). I’m 1 and a half episodes into Alex Honnold’s Arctic Ascent – attempting some 4,000ft wall in Greenland. That bloke is beyond human. Scenery looks incredible.
  15. Yesterday was as depressing as it gets. I missed the early Robinson drop catch. This would have given us a possibly 80-90 run lead. And our batting at times yesterday was woeful. Bairstow straight after tea, shocker. Really felt he only needed to hang about for another 20 runs and we could have made a game of it. Also felt Robinson just threw his wicket away, like he couldn’t be arsed. Proper gutted.
  16. Alistair Cook explained that the “graphic” shown on screen for us is just that, a graphic. It’s not meant to be accurate. So the technology must have deemed that more than 51% of the ball was inline.
  17. Only just discovered Susan Calman drinks from the furry cup.
  18. We never EVER win at Bloomfield Road. Surely that has to change finally. Tomorrow would be a fine time for that. Then onwards to Wigan and collect 3 points and some credibility back after the shocking home defeat. All to play for. Let’s hope the players are really, really up for it.
  19. I ran with him from the start, plus his GF (SS) and another well known local runner (AS). Hopey ended up doing the 17 mile route again (he came first last year).
  20. Wow! I finished with a severe pain at base of my shin - a new pain for me. Still not gone. Coincidentally the same leg/ankle that I’ve since gone over on. Good luck with the rehab.
  21. I did the 24-25 miles in 4:33. Was actually very happy with that. But was sluggish after I came off Great Hill.
  22. Well done. Keep it going!! I’ve had a week all-inc in Egypt to contend with. Worse still, I went over on my ankle half way though the trip, so have a tennis ball on the side of my foot! Managed to walk ok and have done a few spin sessions since. Just need the fucker to heal very very quickly.
  23. Bumrah could be a big miss for them. But I’m not convinced we’ll turn things around now. Rot seems to have set in with a few batsmen.
  24. Yes pal. Was tough with very little training before it. How about you?
  25. Anyone recommend a decent central hotel in Delhi for one night? And a tour guide whilst I’m there? Probably wanna see the Tomb and Red Fort, other worthwhile sites. Got approx 24 hours to kill.
