  1. Reading this thread and this came up on Facebook. Haven’t seen it before so thought I’d share it here given the subject.
  2. nobody do basic RE other than the nativity ? Jesus fled into Egypt due to the persecution by King Herod . he was a child refugee at that point, fleeing one country through fear of persecution in his homeland
  3. Use the pin trick , let the air out of the can slowly so as not to activate the widget . He presto “ flat” Guinness to put through your surger .
  4. There’s some in the Tesco in Little Lever . no nitro surge cans though, they’re like rocking horse shit at the moment
  5. Some will be doing it because of the way they have been brought up by their faith just the same as some will be hating others because of the way they’ve been brought up by their faith .
  6. Hard to quantify or prove that to be fair , there’s loads of folk doing good thing’s because of their faith there’s loads of fuckers too, not denying that or saying you need a faith to do good/ behave properly but religious people do a lot of good too. for a start all the best piss ups are from religion , so that’s in its favour too .
  7. Genuine question , would you stop them at Blackpool if they carried on and wanted to get to Ireland ? would you want them stopped by the authorities and kept in camps there or would you rather they were just let go to be Irelands problem ?
  8. New minister for immigration was asked about this on the radio this morning , in the context of do we really think it’s an acceptable way of doing things from theUK Government. no real answer to that only to say “ what it does do is highlight Labours lack of policy on immigration “ Expect an answer like that on here , fucking pathetic from a minister. absolute shambles they are, anyone still supporting these must be on glue.
  9. True that, mate of mine got done for sleeping in the back of his van when he had no digs . He was in charge of the vehicle and above the limit . not sure how that works if you are in a camper van on holiday like but iys what happened to him
  10. Police on the road outside our yard once, Saturday morning, 5 lads on the way in lost their licence and their jobs . home at 12 ish arriving in the yard between 6:30 and 7 . same offence , too much alcohol in the bloodstream to drive , same as if they started at 12 and drove straight in in the eyes of the law, fact they’d been to bed, had a brew and bacon barm didnt change a thing in that respect, but I get why people would differentiate the situations , but the reality is “ sleeping it off “ isn’t a thing, your body processes alcohol at a set rate and only time gets rid of it, not coffee, not Maccy Ds not sleep . due to the event , we were all sent on a course regarding it and it’s always stuck with me cunts trick from the police though , yard is at the bottom of a lane, knew exactly where to sit and grab loads of easy targets , be loads over the limit every single weekend morning
  11. The minimum marriage age was only raised to 16 in the 1920s , before that it was 12 for a female
  12. Yes but that’s in the Gospels that’s why it’s believed some chose to believe other parts or their interpretation of other scriptures but that gets all theological and can’t be arsed with that , just pointing out that some stories are known to be made up
  13. Only the gospels are considered the truth. The bible contains things known to be made up stories, even to the most ardent followers.
  14. https://www.rte.ie/news/ireland/2023/1124/1418256-rioting-dublin-city/ Anyway seems @bolty58 is advising the gardai now 😄
  15. Think that was late last year and mainly for Ukrainians , may have changed now as they’ve literally built a complete estate for Ukrainians in Sligo , which is all well and good but imagine being an Irish person on the housing list and see the government do that while saying there’s no money to build social housing As well as all the ones with accommodation, there’s also loads living in tents on the electric picnic festival site as there’s just nowhere to go
  16. But of a lazy comparison that , understandable , but not quite the same as emigration in the most part to work , not be housed in hotels and given houses while the locals were evicted due to cost of living crisis issues caused by the governments perceived actions and plus, if you look at the reasons for Irish need to emigrate through the years , maybe not a complaint British people should make to be clear, I think the rioters are total fuckwits, smashing their own city up and particularly O’Connell St , I don’t agree with their stance on immigrants at all, especially this collective responsibility for all for the actions of a few , Irish people suffered that themselves all over , but can see why frustration is there and the government need address it but more on the help for “ natives” rather than stop helping immigrants. honestly, young person I know went for a house in Dublin, €500 euro a month it was advertised at, bargain, only it was only offered as a buy to let for landlords to help ease the social housing crisis, landlord got the same house and is now charging the government €1500 a month housing people from Syria and he’s at his mams unable get a foot on the ladder. that’s the sort of thing causes ill feeling, not the fact they are immigrants per se
  17. Indeed. It’s been bubbling for a while with the similar perceptions to here, hotels full free shopping vouchers etc etc . O’Connell st has had issues with foreigners abusing women , begging etc recently , blown out of proportion because it’s not the local scrotes ( who are plentiful) something like this is the spark to ignite all the dickheads and Dublin has loads more who will happily join in attacking the guards and looting .
  18. True and I get why you’d say that as I said the same myself, but the argument is that the majority of Irish left for work, to countries that could absorb them and needed them . histoic stereotypes of “ paddy on the railroad and road “ etc there is a significant opinion in Ireland at the moment, from some, who think the people coming over to Ireland are free loaders who get everything done for them, taking services and houses off Irish people when there’s people struggling / getting evicted etc. there’s full villages of Syrians in some places and they built a Newtown for Ukrainians The grievances or perceived grievances are very similar to here really in some aspects
  19. It’s actually unbelievable to be fair , given the upset it would cause in some circles , I know emojis come up at certain words but surely checking isn’t beyond them given the sensitivity
  20. https://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/how-embarrassing-downing-street-included-irish-tricolour-emoji-in-post-about-northern-ireland/a1265009397.html first the sea border and now this, Downing St making unionists have a complex again
  21. Always liked Cortina’s as a young kid, prob because there was someone on the estate who had one painted like Dukes of Hazard , complete with air horn playing Dixie as well but the only car I ever wanted was a jeep like the fall guys . first legal car I had was a chevette but the best car I ever had as a teenager was a Vauxhall viva I bought for a tenner off some bloke who thought it was knackered, rear wheel drive and went around every corner sideways as a young dickhead . coolest was a Nissan Bluebird mk 1, 2 doors but could roll the back windows down as well as the doors so the whole side was open , so thought I was cool as fuck in that until it blew up on me and caught fire on the M56 . happy days when cars didn’t necessarily need insurance or paperwork or even a driver with a full licence …
  22. Cheers both. didn’t know that , always presumed our government needed to be made up of people elected by the people.
  23. Is Cameron even an MP ? do you need to be an elected MP to be in government? presumed you would but I don’t know
  24. Even the weathers Muslim now in England …
  25. Spot on . it’s ironic that if they did call the march off , the people who’d be most disappointed would include some of those screaming for it to be cancelled.
