  1. Anyone hear Prime Minister's Questions today? Quote from David Cameron at the despatch box - "I wish Bolton Wanderers well for the future".
  2. http://www.thefishy.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1300311474/ Worth a look - don't miss the smaller news items too
  3. Bolton 3 Man City 0 Garry Jones hat trick League Cup 1971 Monster 40,000 crowd
  4. Plymouth 1972 - pretty sure we won 2-1 with two goals in last five mins (Ian Seddon got one). I remember this game as we moved right round the ground from Lever End to the embankment, just in time to be right by the two goals and an unlikely victory. Crowd would have been arouind 5000 in those days.
  5. v Bristol Rovers in FA Cup I think, 1969 or 70? And we lost of course!
  6. Here are some, there must be more? Brown Mixu Coyle Kidd Joyce Hurley Walsh Reid McNab Hendry Worthington Shilton Sammy Charlie Wright oops...nearly forgot Nat and Sam
  7. Wikipedia says Coyle was apparently our second choice if Mugson hadn't come! Having seen the Burnley fightback on TV (which reminded me of the Rioch days...) perhaps he should have been our no. 1 choice?!
  8. Midweek games in the Greaves era were something special. I think it was a night game against Crystal Palace when we knew (almost for sure) we were finally going up, the noise from the crowd was quadrophonic, and our opponents clapped us off the pitch at the end!
  9. Our last 19 games (in other words half a premier league season) have resulted in 28 points = 56 points over a full season = EUFA cup spot if you are lucky. Perhaps things aren't too bad then?
  10. We have 25 points from the last 17 games - keep that ratio up = approx 56 points from 38 games. All is not lost?
  11. I remember the Lever End willing Garry Jones on to reach the ball, but in the end it was a pretty simple tap in. Another crazy one - eleven (no, ten I suppose) Blackburn players all on the goal line for a strange free kick, and Roger Hunt managed to get it through them all from just seven or eight yards
  12. David Pleat talking about Mr J Barton "He's an eloquent guy...."
  13. Rioch led us to that FA Cup win at Liverpool ... for sheer mind-blowing-dancing-round-the-kitchen-jumping-up-and-breaking a-light-bulb happiness that still eclipses anything from our Prem years And there were endless 4-0 and 5-0 wins with cracking powerful goals A great three years that made us all smile again
  14. Trouble is, if everything somehow goes wrong against Stoke, even if we've played them off the park, everyone will say told you so about Megs.... and we'll be in crisis before the season has started. Hopefully three points on the first day of the season, and then three from WBA too, will calm things. Got to give him a chance and remember he'll certainly want to beat Stoke and WBA
