  1. seconded. A number of managers fitted the incompetent profile though, so rarely happened
  2. Took the money just over 3 years ago, put it towards setting up. It is an over generalisation to say best people are in private sector, though not totally incorrect. Speaking in my field, many moons ago people in the 'parks' were fully trained/qualified horticulturalists who did a good job and had a pride in their work. Some deadwood but same in any industry. Then came compulsory competetive tendering. Give the work to the cheapest bidder. An influx of poorly qualified, poorly paid, disinterested employees soon followed. Its a continuing cycle of cuts then investments depending upon who is in power.
  3. Dougie has lost his captain now
  4. Really? Or is this reference to some dodgy butcher
  5. not that long ago a huge lorry dumped about 40 cube of wood at the end of our road. In broad daylight. Neighbours still talk about it!
  6. Cadbury's chocolate orange spread is pretty good. Also maple syrup
  7. bit of a risk though, got a good set up and in with a chance of going up. Fans and players unhappy, could go seriously tits up
  8. there is an open day next wednesday in the masonic hall on Bury new road/radcliffe moor road where you can see the plans and offer opinion. Might ask if theres any chance of them selling maggots to go with anglers gloves and neoprene socks
  9. It is indeed, some suicidal pheasants though. Only done it once or twice, but coming down the hill from the tockholes turn off towards the reservoir, on a bike is ace
  10. Manager to leave at end of season as club to impose new management structure that Warburton doesnt want to work with
  11. was aware of that. Putting kids in a cage to make a protest is still a cuntish thing to do
  12. Happen they waited until relegation seemed unlikely, then some far eastern syndicate lumps heavily on going down. Couple of days later go into admin-soon cover debts with those winnings
  13. Not going to keep reading that. Picture says enough. Pure cunts
  14. Wouldn't disagree with much of that, but if we subtract season ticket holders from saturdays attendance, there were only a few thousand actually paying. If they tried, for example, half price tickets for Brighton, then who knows you might get double the number actually paying. That would result in no loss of revenue. At least if they tried, they have got something to come back with if it doesnt work
  15. remember that well. Fashanu conducting the massed ranks to the tune of vinny jones you're a wanker...
  16. Historically (up until the eighties at least) Boltons crowd more closely mirrored the divisional average than any other club. Since the advent of the premier and champions league, I would imagine that this has dropped off a bit when in the top flght. Wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that this is still pretty much true in our current league though. I guess the club is a bit of a barometer of social and economic times throughout the nation. Bleating about peoples apathy or whatever will make no difference. Some prolonged, inovative initiatives involving schools, clubs etc is needed to achieve a long term effect. Cutting prices for a short term effect probably wont result in full houses, but I'm confident it would yield some more bums on seat, and these may chose to come back next season given the improved football they witness. Should the club chose to do nothing, then there will be no change and these discussions will continue perenially
  17. Offer him a coaching position if one is available and keep him registered as a player
  18. Perhaps people have chosen to miss a few and save for a season ticket next year
  19. Dont think the defence was particularly the problem, the protection from midfield was lacking at times. Vela went there to help out. Danns and bannon had their work cut out against a quality footballing side. The former just not at his best today. When they broke for the winner was screaming for him to charge back, but his tank seems a little drained
  20. Agreed. At 2-1 we had chances to kill the game and didnt take them. This came after they had brougt on deeney. They then brought on two more to tighten up. Felt we should have done that at 2-1 after missing those chances, as they then started to control the game. Perhaps twatstick for janko/feeney. Moving janko to the back and putting feeney up front lost us pace and balance on the right. As Ian says, the same could have been done at 3-3. ALF looked good and the linkplay with clough is excellent, but he should have done better with the chances he had. Cant fault the commitment of the players though-they are giving their best for nl
  21. Was once at a summer fair and was this sign, 'WWF' mugs for sale. Didn't bother looking at them, but thought 'dont mind supporting the world wildlife fund'. Got it home only to find pictures of wrestlers on it.
  22. Wilsons-as good a pie as anywhere. Worth a trip to Kearsley any time
