  1. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/feb/04/lucy-letby-conviction-challenge-to-evidence Quite a stark statement.
  2. Although not America, a shooting in Sweden at an education establishment. Several dead and many injured. Mental.
  3. Channel 4 you say? Move all the production team to Mogadishu.
  4. Aye, was thinking it was an 18 month job. Still not convinced that we need so many, at the expense of a more physical presence. We'll see in the summer.
  5. It wasn't initially and the defence has had questions raised over it. Seems more information about skin coloration from injection of air from the expert witness. Can't see anything but a retrial eventually. One that focuses on when she definitely was there maybe!
  6. Get one early. Crowd up. 5-0 with some time left, and Zico's arse twitching.
  7. They rarely play together. For me, having just one leaves them overworked in that department. Hence silly fouls etc. Tomo isn't the most agile and stupidly over commits. It worked for a while with 2 of the three as attacking/creative midfielders, then teams sussed it. Playing with just 2 in there made it worse. SS now has to work out how to make it work.
  8. In that case, I hope they throw the disciplinary book at him.
  9. He has said he likes the set up we have, as it's similar to what they had at Plymouth. Therefore any targets identified by Markham would still be relevant for consideration; as was shown by Etete. Whether he bad identified any, at the behest of Evatt, we don't know. You mention the Norwegian fella- we don't know how much interest there was, and don't know if the manager was keen. We do know that the new manager was around for a few days before appointment, and will have had talks over targets. Both IE and SS said there maybe further incomings. It may not be surprising to you, but it is a bit for me. Not hugely perhaps, but the midfield situation doesn't make his job of getting into the play offs any easier.
  10. Seems we've been looking at Etete for a little bit. Not clear, but doesn't seem we've been looking at midfielders. The new man had been watching us for a game or two before appointment. What he saw, and felt was needed, we don't know. We may have approached clubs about players, but deals couldn't be done. Lots of unknowns, and whilst it's good to have got rid of some, it's still somewhat underwhelming. Down to the new manager now, and how well he can re-tune the squad.
  11. More stuff coming out. Something to do with police notes saying she wasn't there for a third of cases! Other stuff over expert witnesses.
  12. https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/imposing-duties-to-address-the-flow-of-illicit-drugs-across-our-national-border/#:~:text=Criminal networks are implicated in,nitazene synthesis labs in Canada. Some details.
  13. Time will tell, but he's had a response so far. I'm surprised that Canada seems to be a hotbed of fentanyl export.
  14. Not quite the Italian job.
  15. My father in law spent a month in there, followed by time in respite care. 24 hours back home then blue light to A&E again. Currently on a C ward. Too long a story, but to say his care has been mixed is an understatement. That included a number of foreign staff, some of whom clearly have difficulties with the language and accents. Not their fault, but a concern nonetheless over their effectiveness and potential risk. Other staff from these Isles have been defensive, ignorantand have lied. Others salt of the earth types. Harks back to the my dad's time in there 13 years ago. Striking similarities. Hopefully my f-i-l will be coming home though, and we won't see the coroner issuing an improvement notice which was the outcome of my dad's inquest.
  16. At least he seems to have a bit of energy about him: his voice coach clearly worked.
  17. Assuming we don't get a midfielder in, then there will have to be some business in the summer. Matete is on loan, Dempsey will have had another long spell out, and Sheehan will be starting the final year of his contract. SS may see Sharples-Ahmed as part of his set up, we'll have to see, but we could be well short in that department.
  18. You've not been there in recent years then? Disproportionately high numbers; far beyond the percentage within the population on the whole. Both for myself, and in particular with family members, I've been a fairly frequent visitor, and it's been this way for a long time. Funny thing is, when folk talk about things like this, they are repeatedly described as angry gammon Farage type. Strange.
  19. He would still be expected to track back and "defend" though. Simply not so good at it. Don't entirely blame him though, it's a thankless task, and if he's expected to get forward and provide width, then he can't be expected to get back into a full back's position instantly. We're still vulnerable in behind the wingbacks. That's why I've ways believed in two more solid midfielders, to be able to cover if necessary.
  20. Another one thrust into a role he wasn't suited for?
  21. Not at all. As others have said, it's a term applied to many a footballer. Do you not remember the old joke: How did Steve Morrow break his arm? Fell off a donkey!
  22. Reminds me of Fergie, when he rebuilt teams. Once past their sell by date, he would refresh it. City have been so consistent over the years, that maybe this was inevitable. Players getting a bit older, whilst other teams work out a means of stopping them. KdB for example- a magnificent player still, but has started to break down a bit with injuries.
  23. We've signed plenty of those types, all who will have passed their medical. The chance we take. In this situation, SS has said he won't be up to speed yet. Given we still have a chance to qualify for the play offs, it would seem better to have someone ready to go from the off. Could understand it if he was coming on a permanent move.
  24. Unless of course someone comes in for him now. Someone he quite fancies, but one that may not wait until the summer. Chance he takes. Moreover, if he isn't playing for us, then he may drop down the pecking order for those clubs who may be interested.
