  1. He was claimed down here as Oxshott's Murray when he won Olympic gold. Born & bred Surrey lad.
  2. I've been watching Evans a lot on Livestream this year, his confidence is way up and he doesn't let a dropped serve, or set, bother him - he just gets on with it.
  3. He was 333 a year ago, been injured so dropped right down. Something that has caused him to get his head down & graft instead of hitting the nightclubs (as well as growing up a bit) has been the time that Andy Murray has given to him, and other British players.
  4. That backhand tbh. And Evans should have won it too. Hope his foot recovers quickly.
  5. All going well for an all British men's final still... Going to be torn tonight though when Evans plays Stan. Evans still in the doubles, playing with Kyrgios.
  6. Pain in the backside when you play someone you're used to playing in an external competition.
  7. Laura Robson just got through qualifiers to the US Open main draw. Very good to see her getting her act together after the wrist surgery & using up her protected ranking.
  8. You either get binary or you don't.
  9. Would have been better if Lancs haf scored a few more.
  10. I was under the Peter May stand with 2 of my carers. Wasn't you starting the Lanky singing was it? Northern Line was packed going home, guess that was due to the problem earlier.
  11. Get down to the Oval & sit in the shade.
  12. Loughborough,I think, would have been 17th in the medal table.
  13. It's number 2 on my "to read" pile. I'll report back when I've read it
  14. I can vouch for The Princess of Shoreditch too. Londonist.com website is great for food recommendations and for general What's On sort of stuff, and quirky stuff about London. It's worked on all the time so is always up to date. As far as the Southbank goes, just hanging out there on a Friday night in summer is good. The bar/garden on top of the Queen Elizabeth hall has great views & is lovely.
  15. We rented a holiday villa in Stari Grad which was good quality & not expensive & we ate out all the time. Restaurants all over Split and Stari Grad were very inexpensive. Split doesn't have many hotels, but lots of b&b's The hotel we stayed at for our last night was fabulous - called the Splendida Palace and we're going back there.
  16. Went to Split in June for a week, spent most of the week on Hvar island. Didn't get enough time to see Split properly so we're going for a long weekend in October. If you're going to the beach anywhere in Croatia, take swim shoes as it's very rocky everywhere I've been.
  17. And yes, have a good time Hazzy
  18. We've been to the St James one which is handy for the West End (they do a theatre menu), went there before East is East at Trafalgar Studios. If you don't have the theatre menu but tell them you're going to the theatre, they make sure you're out in time (well they did with us).
  19. Murano is where Hartnett chefs, the two Cafe Muranos are slightly more casual. Never been to Cote, I'm a bit wary of steak as I never liked it until I went to Buenos Aires so I only eat it in Gaucho or Cau as it's Argentinian beef there. Tried steak in Hawksmoor & didn't like it. There are lots of the usual suspects at the Wharf but I suggested Gaucho (tongue in cheek tbh) as it's on the river & quite pleasant for pre-dinner cocktails if not for dinner for a family.
  20. Gaucho at Canary Wharf and Cafe Murano at Covent Garden. Neither are cheap though.
