  1. Might be interesting to see if he plays Elmo and Klas up front together but he'll probably just go one on his own. Any ideas who captain would be with both Cahill and Jussi out? Knight?
  2. There are plenty of parks in and around Manchester so one of them could have been used. An ideal location would have been Old Trafford I suppose or some other arena. Otherwise they should have just used Piccadilly, limited the number of people entering the gardens and opened up three or four other fanzones in the centre rather than just the one at Piccadilly and the one near Victoria. I know it would have taken alot to police but if you want to host an event like that then that's what you've got to do, besides I'd rather spend more money on police to control a drunken crowd than spend it on trying to stop a riot and cleaning up afterwards. I hope the guys at Fifa don't pay too much attention to what happended because it does not bode well for a World Cup bid. Although, why would they? The Scots arn't gona be there (although we may have to deal with 100,000 pissed Irishmen).
  3. I'd say it was at least 100,000, but even so they should have been more prepared. They must have had a couple of weeks at least to assess how many Scots were on their way down and planned accordingly. There was no regulation at Piccadilly Gardens of how many people could get into the Fanzone to watch on the screens and it was massively overcrowded. When the screens went down they started ferrying people to near City's ground (I think) to watch on another screen but it had already started kicking off. They should have used one of the parks as an overspill area or something.
  4. Went to the centre of Manchester for the Zenit/ Rangers game - worst planning of an event I've ever seen. As we got in to Picadilly for the kick off there was a shed load of Rangers fans getting on trains to Bolton, Wigan, etc just to watch the match and that was before the screens fecked up. I suspect a few might stay in Bolton due to cheaper hotel rooms - last time there were a few bars was full of Scots. If I were a Rangers fan I'd rather watch the game in a bar anywhere than end up in the DW, if they don't have a match ticket they shouldn't even bother.
  5. Did no one ask about changing our shitty badge?
  6. This has got to be some kind of wind up hasn't it? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/astonvilla/7935765/Aston-Villa-spark-tug-of-war-for-Mark-Hughes-as-Martin-ONeill-quits-on-eve-of-new-season.html

  8. I had a mate who went for a year and he said the fruit picking was very hard work for not much reward, met some good people there but could only keep it up for a few weeks. He ended up in Camberra working in McDonalds: said it was well easy, working with fellow travellers, got to visit different places every few weeks, saved plentty of cash and smoked a shit load of pot (don't know if you're in to that but it just shows how easy the job was if he was constantly high).
  9. Nice to see SKD give them something to remember him by: http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/jul/18/charleston-falls-to-bolton/ Anyone got a link to the goals?
  10. Shouldn't at all and De Jong should have been off without a doubt, but was just saying that he wasn't giving out cards all the time, in fact he should have given out more. Apart from that he did well though.
  11. I didn't think the Spanish were soft at all, the Dutch just kept kicking them. De Jong and Van Bommel showed that they are a couple of dirty fvckers - Van Bommel was lucky to be in the final in the first place and wouldn't have been if previous refs had done their job. Webb was very good all tournament and did all he could to keep at an 11 v 11 final. However, next year I expect he'll have a shocker every time he refs a match involving BWFC.
  12. It looks like Blake and Cahill are handing out tracksuits to the homeless.
  13. Don't worry it's just part of the Council's regeneration plan for the area.
  14. Don't know if anyone's seen the new Nike advert but it's pretty good, prefer it to the Carlsberg one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idLG6jh23yE
  15. Well, I do have all his singles.
  16. Just got back, great day! Fantastic weather, plenty of beer and scenes of joy. Got to Stoke on the train about 1 ish and got directed down to the student union bar near the station. Cheap booze, some nice student girls walking around and massives vs munchen on the big screen. Then bus to the game from outside. Got to say it was a really bad performance in the first half and deserved to be behind. Second half was better but lucky not to go two down. The fans were great (in the second half particularly), there was at least 1,000 there I reckon. Went absolutely mental when the two goals went in, the second was so unexpected and made up for some shocking away performances this year. After the game got the same bus back to the station and enjoyed the journey back (has to be said that there were a good few people getting a bit pissed off with the pissed up Wanderers fans on the train but I'm sure they'll get over it). MOTD tonight and a few bevs. COYWM!
  17. Estate Agents - bastards to a man. Religion. The tw@s in town that are stood outside Weatherspoons at 8.55am every morning when I go to work - get a fecking life.
  18. Don't know about Bolton but there's a cracking shop in Lancaster market, you can buy pretty much any flag in the world (and a great selection of bongs to boot).

  20. Going off that questionnaire the club passed around I think they will be making it a bit more worthwhile getting a season ticket. Free stuff from the club shop, discounts for those who have bought season tickets for consecutive seasons, etc. The Teamcard is a great idea but I don't think they've used it to its full potential yet. Think they were talking about not having tickets for cup games if you had a season ticket and just adding it electronically to the card.
  21. Is there any point to this? We may have a big population but are there any benefits to becoming a city? Or is this just a rebranding excercise so we can look more attractive in the next edition of Lonely Planet. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8497257.stm Personally I like being called a town and don't think we need anyone else to confirm us as a city in order to recognise our importance in British history or our standing today.
  22. I've got a mate who does that, but he does it all the time. His mum and dad have southern accents, he was born in Southport but has lived in Bolton all his life and somehow has a slight scouse accent. He does go to a lot of Liverpool games but if anything he should have a broad Bolton accent. Think he's a bit insecure that people would start calling him a glory supporter. Would be funny if a proper scouser starting quizing him on the city itself because I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have a clue about it other than where Anfield and Goodison are.
