Transfer Update
God I hate the fecking media sometimes: Having bought four players this summer, Bolton boss Gary Megson has done the equivalent of looking at your bank balance after a four-day bender. Once he recovers from the shock and remembers what the entries for 'champagne room' mean, he will be pawning Gavin McCann, Nicky Hunt and Danny Shittu quicksmart. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ju...re-arsenal-city Didn't realise the Guardian had a full run down of our finances and transfer strategy. Don't think we should get rid of McCann, don't really care if the other two stay or go.

Sums Up Bolton Fans Perfectly
Just got this link off someone and thought I'd pass it on. Has it been posted on here before? Is it someone off here who put it together? http://www.bolton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=162462

Football Stadiums
Good call, cracking ground that. You are talking about the one in Lisbon and not Sunderland? Have to be Bayern for me, unbelievable stadium.

Set Your Video's...
Is that the one that is taken directly off the TV? Coz if it is, it doesn't show a reply of Al Habsi's save. Absolute quality that.

I Miss Wembley
That's why it's sh!t when they have the semis there (but need to make the money back somehow). Used to love going to the old Wembley, seemed like the entire town was travelling down. Went to the Wolves services on the M6 last week and had a flash back of loads of Wanderers pissing in the toilet sinks - brilliant! Hope we get there but doubt it will be next year, might just have to go watch an England game - see if the ground is worth the cash we spent on it.

Panorama's Pandora's Box To Be Opened?
Surely they can't slag us off any more than they did on the actual TV show. Can't believe the BBC created a show so one sided. Not saying Sam/BWFC didn't do anything wrong (even though there has been no action taken by the FA), but it made us out to be the centre of some kind of conspiracy. How many times did they zoom in on the satelite photo stadium throughout the show? And blamed us for shed loads of stuff. May be if they release the rest of the information it'll show all the prem clubs do/did business in the same way and not just pin it all on us.

Cahill In Trouble With Capello
And a dish best served cold. May be I'm just imagining things but I'm sure I heard something about Barry having a paddy on the training ground like this previously. Villa fans will defo want Cahill back now - be funny when they have to pay more than City did for Barry.

Cahill Called Up!
You never know, he might fall on his arse! Doubt it though. Well done Gary, well deserved.

2008/09
High point for me is being able to buy beer tokens and getting a pint at half time without missing any of the game (is this the first year they've done this coz I don't remember it before? Mind you I didn't go to many home games last season). Also Fan Zone was ok, at least the club have started catering for their customers. In terms of matches: enjoyed doing the double over West Ham (loved it when Taylor smashed that freekick in away), both Hull and Sunderland were quality away days and Spurs at home. Low points were: B'burn away - shocking from sections of our crowd. Losing twice to Man U - despite two of our better performances of the season. Losing 3-0 in Liverpool - twice. They guy who sits behind me is a knob. Also, pleased we signed Al Habsi on a long term deal and signed Mark Davies in Jan.

New Shirt Sponsor...188bet.com
Can we not have a poll to see who: will buy it no matter what it looks like/never buys the new shirt/will not buy it because they don't support Derby For the record, didn't buy last years coz it was turd and won't be buying this years for the same reason. It is important (not the most important thing obviously) to have a good looking strip particularly for a club like Bolton that loves it's advertising, corporate image crap, etc. Also, I don't know a single person who wants our current badge, need to get rid.

Awful, worse than this years.

Elmander
He's not exactly been the next Anelka but to say he's missed loads of chances is rubbish - he's had very few decent opportunities. The only one I can remember specifically is that one against Boro when he put it way over the bar. He could have had a goal at Wigan if SKD had squared the ball to him instead spooning it. Not saying he shouldn't have created more for himself but surely the team have got to create something for him? And if they did that you'd see his confidence come back and more goals. Must be really demoralizing being asked to play on your own up front and then expected to chase down balls that are no-where near you and at the same time be in decent scoring positions. Give him another year infront of a better midfield and he'll come good.

Elmander
What happens if we do sell him? Personally I think we'd just be making trouble for ourselves. We need a centre midfielder and Megson needs to concentrate on that instead of looking for a replacement for our striker. If we sold Elmander how much would we get for him? ?4-5m? And then we go spend that money on someone (who wouldn't be a world beater for that cash) and hope they fit in where Elmander hasn't. Personally I think Elmander is a good player and could be quality in the Premiership if given the proper service. You can say what you like about his finishing of chances, when you only get one a game (if that), every game, it'd be difficult for any striker. Also, the only part of the season that many have said was any good was when he scored his goals - when we made chances for him and he was confident enough to bag a few. We're not going to be able to improve our side by getting rid of him. We need to keep Elmander (and hopefully Cahill - could easily see him going back to Villa this summer) and then improve the rest of the team, centre back and midfield are the key areas now.

Replica Football Tops At The Match
Nobody going to stick up for the shirt wearing lot? Fine, I love wearing my Bolton shirt, on holiday, around the house, to the pub, to the game, anywhere really. Shame I can't wear it to work because I'd do that too. Come on you whites!

?63m?
None taken, I would be surprised if he was bought for that much. Think he would be good in the premiership though, shame he'd be playing for the red shite.
-
?63m?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/ma...istiano-ronaldo Alot of cash that, quality player though. Think it will work out best for English football though - Get rid of that greasy Portugese leech once and for all, plus I wont care if Ribery looks smug after a game because I'd be distracted by his horse-like features.

Wigan Away
Just spoke to the Ticket Office, they've sold just over 1,000. But 800 of them have been sold today apparently so we may sell a few more before Saturday. Famous 2-1 victory for the Whites! (Elmander & Taylor)

Smolarek
He probably wouldn't have done in one team, but if we'd have played a few cup matches in total we'd have a better idea of how good some of these players are. Thought Basham looked ok when he's played and the Obadeyi is supposed to by ok and it would have been better if we could have started Mark Davies off slower also (although his best performance came in his first game). Maybe next year when we have a bigger and better squad (hopefully).
-
Smolarek
This is where we've missed out by not having any sort of cup run, can't try out new players and tactics. Think we could have done with some "unimportant" games to let some players prove themselves. Al Habsi/Bogden in net. Hunt, Fogut, Basham, Cohen (if fit), Riga. Obadeyi & Smorlarek upfront. With the rest made up of first teamers or those who need a few games out of the first team to regain some confidence (AOB). On the other hand we'd have probably got a few injuries along the way and be in a pretty sh!tty position right now
