  1. cause i aint posted til now. I have a quiet good feeling in my bones, next 3 games 0 to 1 points would be poor , 2 to 4 points would be ok to keep us in the scrap, 4 to 5 points would be great any thing else and we would be well on our way to survival. and on bury, they will surely just miss out on automatic and get beat on pens in the play offs ....again. nowt else will do!
  2. I would not be too sure about that. Remember Bolton at that time were the worst team for letting in late goals, somat that BSA took a few years to rectify. That miss came around 12 mins into extra time. my feeling was is that we would have sat back and villa would have thrown the kitchen sink and have probably scored. twas a very poor miss, he snatched at it like a schoolboy when he even had time for a first touch. for me not as bad as flapper felgate in 92 which denied us a QF place.
  3. Watched it as I have quite a few Canadian relatives who take this game seriously and have been trying to coax me to a Maples game for years. As you say it was difficult to follow the puck on tv but the two teams seemed evenly matched. Thought the USA shaded it but what do I know. Gave up at full time and went to bed think that the USA would go on to win having come from 2-0 down and equalised with 25 secs to go. Weird to see Canadians getting so excited and patriotic. They kept saying its equivalent to England playing Argentina or Germany in a world cup final.
  4. Seen the challenge again this afternoon through sober eyes. Twas 50:50 to be fair to the lad and he caught him with the lace side of the boot rather than studs.
  5. Stoke lad knew he'd done damage by feigning injury himself. He then realised what he had done and seemed genuinely upset. To me this was a ott challenge perpetuated by tony pulisis get stuck in at all cost policy...ok BSA played the game the same way but i don't recall one bwfc breaking the oppositions legs.
  6. i think that a few glasses of red are in order tonite, especially as gladys is in Newcastle at a friends and young miss bgoe is on a sleepover.
  7. I suffered from the same with my combi. inside the combi there is a sensor which detects flow for hot water so that all the burner heat is spent warming the water. however if this is set too far one way in detecting water flow from your hot taps then the result is the heating cycle fails to come on. Best to get a qualified bolier technician to sort it as its quite tricky to get right.
  8. yes yes yes and f?cking yes!!!! now come on you f?cking white men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. I never did get the "Nick Hornby - Fever Pitch" type football fan. Same sort who start or join in Mexican waves. Yes I used to go to the odd Bury game in the 70's when bolton were away in London, but only to put the boot in.
  10. Aye saw that too. The benefit culture is not only crippling the country but has created and perpetuates an underclass in our society that politicians find acceptable to maintain as the price of not supporting private industry. The Health service is costing this country far more than it can afford because no politicians have the balls to change it or to stop us from eating the processed shiite sold and marketed by the food industry and supermarket giants. We are also to blame for most of our health problems as we eat and drink the wrong stuff and too much of it. I dont believe in the CO2 global warming shiite, but we do need more and cheaper energy for the future and we have coal. The mines were closed I agree, but the seams are still there. We just need to sink more shafts and open new mines, it aint rocket science. Might need subsidising now, but there is only one way that the price of energy will go and by then we should have one of the most up to date industries in the world, that could either belong to the UK or a UK private company. On the plus side it will create blue collar work as well as securing future energy needs for the next 200+ years. I'd rather see my taxes spent on that than benefits,an over expansive NHS which is out of control and bailing out of banks.
  11. Ok you are right to be worried. I was worried in at the end of last season and even more so at the start of this season when I looked at the quality of GM's signings and the teams they were coming from. Coyle had poor starts at both his previous clubs, but I really think he will come good eventually if it has to be in the championship it will not be his fault imo. This is GM's side.
  12. Makes me sad to think that the traditional British school bully is almost extinct. Most schools in the 1960's had a stereotypical "beast" of boy twice the size of everyone else whose role it was to relieve pupils of their tuck money or give the speccy geek his regular thrashing.
  13. whilst my politics lie somewhere just to the right of gengis khan, a country as crowded and overpopulated as ours that abandons mining and manufacturing so that its less than 20% of GDP would have come unstuck somewhere along the line. Germany, France and even the USA fiercly defend their blue collar industries and have much more left, even Italy has more than the UK now. Both conservatives and Nu Labour are each as guilty in allowing this to happen. We should open the mines to fuel future power and gas needs and subsidise them to the same degree as the pie in the sky windfarms.
  14. You must be easily pleased or have been megsonised to the point that you no longer can distinguish between quality and uninspiring dull dishwater.
  15. Agree with Crawley in that they changed too much from the book. enjoyed watching Stanley Tucci portrayal of the psycho kiddy killer. worth a punt, and the wifey liked it.
  16. would have been no better under Megson. The desperate position is purely down to his mediocre signings. He spent a lot of money on cast offs from the likes of watford, brum, west brom, pompey, hull and wolves and villa. these were in teams whom at the time were no better than us. twas always going to be an uphill struggle with this squad.
  17. spot on I'll never forget passing through Ramsbottom on a bus back to Rawtenstall following an afternoon at the bolton beer festival, a crew of 15 bury got on an proceeded tto abuse the wife and the girlfriend of a mate who was with us. Cowardly shits who would have no doubt attacked kids and scarfers. They got off at Edenfield where I played a little game of hopping off and on the bus just as the doors closed to the ire of the one i managed to clock, especially so when divulged where my own loyaltys lay.
  18. Rather his sort than the unfettered wild spending of nu labour over the past 13 years. I can see a return to 30% plus income tax to pay for labours mis management in the next 5 years. The deficit is incredible.
  19. pretty sure this is a seb but......legendary porn magazine that used to get passed around at work in the 1980's.
  20. Good advice from Carlos, but i'd add some steamed green veggies fromn the market and some cheap grilled fish such as mackerel, Herring or sardines from the fish market
  21. Thought so. I signed on in 1976 for the first 3 weeks after leaving school but thankfully i've worked ever since. However if I were out of work and somehow could not find owt to do for a few months, and needed assistance to help feed the family, I would welcome food, clothing, rent/mortgage tokens to help me through. That way I'd be less inclined to sit on my arse pissing the handouts up a wall and more inclined to take any job on offer.
  22. Having thought long and hard.....its got to be yes. With winning such a big event there is more chance that the better players we have could be persuaded to hang around until the Jan window to see how we did. We would probably get more cash for those that went. We would be able to attract players to get us up first time. But at the end of the day any silverware for a club with the stature of Bolton is a massive achievement. Over the next 25 years it is highly likely that the Premiership will only be contested by 2-3 of the big four every year with Citeh having an outside chance, that leaves the two cups. Again in reality only one of the big 4 plus citeh, villa, spuds and everton can be seen as upsetting the applecart. It would therefore live long in the memory. Well worth it.
  23. So enlighten me, is a crisis payment one that is paid when said scrounger has spent all on fags, white lightin, takeaways or instant lottery tickets 2-3 days before the next hand out?
  24. Must be missing somat in amongst those who are still wounded by the sacking of our Gaz and would quickly lay his poor tenure at the feet of OC. Tell me who bought shittu? who kept AOB around? coyle comes along and sees 4 centre halves at the club plus quite a number of full backs. So you reckon he should have gone out and bought more without giving the incumbants a chance? NO if some of the squad aint up to it premier league standard then the blame still rests with megson
