A bit disappointing to have played so well and not got that second goal but you can see why Pompey are up there. Played to grind it out.
That ref was one of the worst in a while. No such thing as a quick free kick and how on earth Yengi wasn’t booked for that ‘goal’ where he stole it from Baxter has baffled me. You could argue it’s a yellow for interfering with the keeper, a yellow for time wasting and a yellow for kicking the ball away. Fucking laughable.
Also that #28 that came on for them at half time is that kind of enforcer that we have missed IMO. Know nothing about him but based on today, he just kept it simple and kept them ticking.

And yet this went unpunished

I hate Bolton, and reading this thread with loads of Cambridge fans saying how good they are doesn’t improve my mood. Please stop, it just increases their sense of entitlement

I would, definitely. I’ll drop you a message shortly.

Thanks all.
I think finding out is probably the most sensible option for me, I guess everyone is built different. It's just the fear of a positive result that's scaring me now.
I've booked in to see the person TMGJ has recommended anyway to (hopefully) work on alleviating some of this anxiety.

Been a while...
PREMATCH
QuoteChrist that badge is awful. It hurts my brain trying to read those letters. The ‘f’ is especially wrong.
QuoteIf we win the meltdown of their fans will be glorious
QuoteA little digging in their nickname may have yielded some insight on that badge. Bolton Trotters were practical jokers, one notable exponent challenged a visitor to an endurance contest where they both stood one leg in a bucket of hot water to see who could last the longest, the big joke being that his was a wooden leg. Perhaps this artwork is a modern take on the trotting tradition.
QuoteBolton fans always seem a decent, respectful measured bunch for the most part. Don't have the delusions of grandeur that other big clubs that end up in this league suffer from.
QuoteSeconded. I've always found Bolton fans to be a great bunch
QuoteI went to have a look at the Bolton forum and came away in shock. A very simple design with no adverts or pop-ups and the matchday thread made almost no mention of us and was just a load of thoughtful posts about team selection and tactics.
Where's the fun in that?
QuoteI've always like Bolton fans too. Good to have you back @FarmerCee
QuoteAlso, they brought the magnificent Jay-Jay Okocha to English football, one of my favourite players of all time.
QuoteTotally agree, they are a real good bunch of supporters.
QuoteBolton are the best club in League one, apart from Wycombe. Great supporters and a Beaconsfield owner.
QuoteAgree on Bolton - always a bit of a mutual love-in, as I know their fans appreciated the reception at Adams Park when they were in dire straits as a club. Good fan bases recognize each other, and there seem to be some similarities between the supporters, as we also have a thoughtful, interesting forum, with the added bonus of the odd stellar pun.
QuoteHopefully we'll see a 22 man punch-up today in honour of Shrove Tuesday, where it was traditional for villages to attack each other with a football somewhere in the mix.
IN GAME
QuoteGood header, but unmarked.
QuoteUndeserved goal for them. Think we’ve started excellently out of possession.
Quotemccarthy is not up to it...Bolton are poor and we need to attack them
QuoteWell we're certainly creating chances !
QuoteWE DEFINITELY DO NOT DESERVE TO BE LOSING THIS.
QuoteWe've been the better team here, just need to take our chances!
QuoteCan't criticise that first half at all. We're solid defensivley (apart from that one moment) and industrious going forward. Lots of chances being created - would've loved to see Kone on the end of one of those 1 v 1s.
Another 45 minutes like that and I don't think we'll lose it. And if we lose playing like that well then fair enough.
QuoteFrustrating to be losing a game like this with a goal like that.
QuoteGood 45 minutes from us, particularly considering the changes we've made. Just missed chances costing us, we've had several really good openings and not scored. Bolton have had 1 half chance and taken it. We could nick something here with the players we have on the bench.
QuoteRef seems to be giving a few cheap free kicks this half
QuoteSadly those subs seem to have really killed any momentum we had.
QuoteAfter that baffling double sub I’d be amazed if we got anything out of this. Might put a movie on.
QuoteAhhh that's the chance, Taylor had to score. One of those nights I think.
QuoteOnly 8 points between 13th place and the bottom 4. It's going to be a hell of a scrap for half of the division.
QuoteWank
QuotePoo ...
QuoteThis does feel like a mismanaged game, getting too cute. 0-2 now too.
Q: You have just won 5-2 against a good side, do you:
1: Keep the momentum going.
2: Make four changes.
QuoteWhat a shit goal to concede. Wakey wakey Max
QuoteDreadful goal to concede, poor judgement from Max, but what exactly was he remonstrating with the ref for?
QuoteWell, don't take your chances, and you won't win the game. We've had more than enough to get something from this game, but dispensing of the high press in the 55th minute has made life much easier for Bolton. Bounce back on Saturday.
QuoteBolton showed that they’re a good side, but they were definitely beatable, especially if we had we taken our chances in the first half or implemented a better strategy in the second half.
QuoteDoes that count as a "legit" challenge from their keeper there to only get a yellow?!
Quotedangerous and reckless how on earth was it not a red? Answer: the ref. He didn't even book one of their players for punching the ball, clear as day.
QuoteVery frustrating. On another night we’d have had that wrapped up by halftime.
QuoteThere was definitely a point at least available tonight.
QuoteYou can’t just high press regardless. Our high press v Posh worked as they were sh1t with the ball at the back. Bolton are not.
Better team tonight. They took their chances we didn’t. Simple as that.
QuoteWe've lost away to a team that might finish the season as champions. Yet it still feels wrong.
Quotehttps://gasroom.org/discussion/comment/329491#Comment_329491
He's clearly trying to get the ball
I think that's very arguable when he's so late and wild.
QuoteBut when all you've got is a hammer, everything looks like a nail with Sam Vokes' face on it
QuoteA Red would have been to our disadvantage. Only a few seconds left, changing their keeper would not alter this result.
Boltons next three games, the ones their keeper would potentially have missed, are against Charlton, Cambridge and Blackpool. We could do with Bolton beating Charlton and Cambridge so I’d prefer they had their first choice keeper for them.
QuoteMax should have done better for the first goal, a slow, looping header from six yards out when he was on the goal line.
Max couldn't have done worse for their second. A diagonal back-heel from the corner of the goal area while he was standing and in full sight of the shot?
The more embarrassing the goal he concedes, the more he remonstrates with the officials. Not a great look.
Quote@FarmerCee - now that you have the double over us and our meetings this season are complete, I wish you and Bolton all the best in snatching one of the automatics (preferably from Derby!).
You are welcome back any time, of course!
QuoteI thought it was another good performanc. Bolton were better than us in both boxes. The scoreline could have been the other way round had we taken our chances. The reality is we have some relatively inexperienced strikers who will miss chances. We can't afford to go and get proven 20 goal a season strikers.
QuoteWas at the game last night but missed Bolton's first goal. There is no blame on Max for that goal, I would not expect a keeper to come for that cross.
2nd goal he looks wrong footed as expecting a bigger touch from their forward who hardly touches it at all. I'm not sure that is a genuine mistake. Keepers rely so much on anticipation to save something at that close range. He would have had to dive to reach that before the player touched the ball, and if he had he would have been criticised for not standing up if the ball had gone where he was standing instead of the far corner.
We were excellent last night and but for some wayward finishing really could have come away with at least a point if not all three.
QuoteWas also at the game last night and I did see the first goal. My comment on that goal is that it seemed to happen in slow motion the ball for the cross seemed to be in the air for a long time outswinging deep into our 18 yard box. I agree the cross was not for Max to deal with - Taff attempted to chase but had too much ground to make up. The header was well directed but had to travel a long distance looping back across the area. Max did look like he had lead in his boots as he didn’t seem to get off the ground in his attempt to reach the header. Collectively we didn’t defend that cross well!

Sometimes the best advice comes from the people who are furthest removed from the situation so I guess where better to ask.
Apologies in advance if this is a bit deep.
A ‘what would you do in my shoes’ type question…
My grandmother died young from MND. My mother has Frontotemporal Dementia (diagnosed at 61). Both of these are linked to a gene mutation that there’s a 50% chance that I may have inherited.
If I have, there’s a rather increased chance that I could develop either (or both) by the time I’m 60 (half way there this year). In short, it’s fucked my head up.
Now I can get tested to confirm whether or not I’ve inherited it but the question is whether or not you’d want that.
Do you live in blissful ignorance and when your time comes, it comes? Or do you get the test and there’s a 50% chance you’re negative or if you are positive, your heads potentially even more fucked?
But then on the other hand, you’ve got a place in line for any preventative treatments that may be developed in the future…
There’s also the fact you can find out if any theoretical child you may have can be tested during pregnancy to determine if they’ve inherited it from you (with the option to not continue with it).
Apologies again, I know it’s a deep one, just appreciate an impartial view. Heads flitting from one way to the other on an hourly basis.

Is that what happens then should they go bust?
(I mean it makes sense. Just weren't sure if the EFL were sensible enough to have that clause in the rulebook).

Agreed. This was a middle aged looking bloke - fairly sure the twitter post is bogus.
Like others have said, was just to the right of us, 3 or 4 rows down.
CPR, defibrillator out, a lot of attention, didn’t look good. Absolutely hoping for the best.
Also if the bloke with a flat cap on that sits around row M in IL3 is someone off here, you’re a fucking weapon. Arguing with a clearly emotional steward who’s asking you to clear the stand is not a good look.

Anyone watching The Traitors on BBC?
Ridiculously overdramatic but still easy watching. Me and Mrs 2094 are properly invested.

All relevant irrespective of age.. Only as good as when someone first takes you
Very true. My old man’s never been in to football so took my mums mate to get me into supporting Bolton.
Actually, my first ever Wanderers game was the one where Lampard scored 2 and they won the league at the Reebok. Seems to be a bit of a Chelsea theme here. -
Being one of the younger ones on here, I think it was Chelsea away in 2008, last game of the season. Matty Taylor last minute equaliser.
-
Just realised I never followed this up after the deadline - apologies!
Grand total raised for £1085 which will all be going to support the mental health charity, Mind. A massive thank you to everyone that donated.
I won this in the draw. An XL is going to be a bit a little big on me but better than nothing I guess.
The winners of the 2 stadium frames I donated were a Norwich fan and a Rangers fan so Ibrox gives me a new ground to design.

People who are daft enough to test! 😁
Hope you’re on the mend soon 👍
Only tested when MiL mentioned FiL being rough a couple of weeks back. Just wondered out of curiosity and bang, bold line straight away 🤦♂️
Should be good for Monday but Saturday's going to be a no go annoyingly!
-
Has to be a win at this point. Will take a scruffy 1-0 off someone’s arse. Just something to stop the mini rut.
Out unfortunately though. Been rough since Saturday. Turns out I’ve got the ol’ rona. Who even gets Covid officially nowadays?!
-
Thank you all. The cut off is 6pm today so I think the plan is to draw out the prizes tonight.
As it stands we’re £100 off doubling last years total so any last minute help is massively appreciated.
-
Evening all,
Appreciate it’s an expensive time of year but I’m just trying to raise awareness for a fundraiser that I’m working with raising money for mental health charity Mind.
Theres prizes including signed shirts, rare shirts, football books, vouchers, artwork, my stadium frames and more.
Entries start at just £3.

Any support is appreciated.
Bucket shaking over.

Strange that today I hardly noticed Sheehan in general play (and yes he totally created the 2nd goal). But over the last few months he has been by some margin our best midfielder, IMO. Today we score 7 and he was anonymous for much of it, the ball simply didn't come to him much, for whatever reason. (The first half hour seemed to be Toal, Tomo and Iredale swapping passes without going far and the front 2 taking turns to lose possession). Winning a league game 7-0 without many of our players being at their best and our keeper never handling the ball, that has to be a first.
Sheehan got absolutely man marked all over the place by their number 16. Literally like his shadow.

VAR and that’s a red. The fact a fourth official is 10m away and can’t see that’s a 2 footed lunge is shite.
