  1. Bit of a tangent like but if we beat Hull Saturday I reckon Browny might be getting his P45 never mind our Gaz.
  2. Sean Davis is your man he's a ball playing midfielder, saturday aside I'm expecting him to be getting on the ball and knocking it about, if not then Mark Davies he can weave through defences and then slot in forwards we've got the players we just need them to perform or possibly be allowed to perform without "defence first" ringing in their ears.
  3. Or fantasy aside the likes of Hodgson, Bruce and Zola have all achieved relative success under the same constraints but in very different ways - Lee was a disaster but playing decent football and entertaining is not beyond BWFC - changing style does not have to equal relegation. Megson has achieved what he's been asked credit for that it's how he does it and conducts himself where the majority of the problems lie - the board appointed the right man to keep up us proven fact i doubt they considered anything much after that, hence where we are now.
  4. Yes fair point on the creative midfielder but I reckon that may have been shelved and it's all go for the striking options, we've got Davis S (will come good and start to be a string pulling type of player in my view) and Davies M, plus Taylor and Gardner with a bit of flair on the wings - CB I would say we are ok with Ricketts, AOB, Cahill and Zat
  5. Now that would be good - ?3.5m out - net squad size no change - McCann and Shittu for Nugent and Beckford - cover all over the pitch - saturday dim distant memory!!
  6. Not seen a lot of this lad - can he finish does he have decent feet? Always thought he was a speed merchant type player with not a great deal of quality - like a Vassell type if he is the former get him but we'd need more than ?2.5m if he's the latter I'd edge me bets on Nugent.
  7. School Boy error....brolly for one please. Still think there's enough there to warrant a punt.
  8. I would yes - I think he would add to our squad attacking wise I thought he did ok playing for pompey at the end of last year albeit on the wing - fits in to Garys usual criteria as well - Young, English, Not playing as much as they'd like so hungry and affordable - he has an England cap remember and I think it was Capello that gave it him and he's no mug.
  9. Just for you Bolty If you could resign one ex wanderer now (regardless of age, price etc) who would it be and why? Despite my moniker I'd go for Eidur - could score a few, retain possesion and unlock defences from in and around the box.
  10. It's not my fault the majority of threads are focused on similar issues and the record appears to be stuck - and for the record I've not started any of them.
  11. No I dont - apologies i should have said "in my opinion taylor signed a new contract.................." players like managers when they pick them and dislike them when they don't - the recent signing of contract extensions is not an endoresment of Megson in the same way not signing a contract is an indication they don't like the manager, pro footballers do nothing but what's best for them and liking the manager doesn't come in to that.
  12. Taylor signed a new contract because he was offered a payrise, more security with an extra year and had no other better offers - the status of the club suits his ambition (playing every week) and he likes where he lives his family have settle as per his quotes - thats the reason he's signed a contract extentsion with Bolton Wanderers I don't think he will have given much thought for the manager in the same way he'd have given little thought for the fans he had a go at a couple of times last year.
  13. I think we will struggle - the defence will need more time to gel doubt JLS will get in and steinnson is still ill can just see them putting us under serious pressure as per last season but Jussi is human - if they lose tonight we might have a sniff. As I'm typing Spurs have just scored.
  14. What you have written sluffy is spot on and accurately describes the clubs status at present - what it doesn't do is explain why we have an extremely strained relationship between most supporters and Gary Megson - if we had say Steve Bruce in charge your description would still be absolutely true but I think the general feel / mood of the fans and club would be far far different - the "Megson factor" has alot to answer about where the club is now in terms of generally moodiness - as I've said it's not all his fault and most the flack is bollox but some of his behavour perpetuates his status with fans and it's gone so far now there is no way of him turning it around - I'm getting more and more of the belief that as a club we'd be better off with out Gary, there is plenty of good managerial talent that could do what he's done and bloody credit to him for that but without the "Megson fator" bollox he comes with, so it may be time to go so we can have the same club you describe but with a much better feeling of optimism about the place.
  15. Yes but Sam had the bulk of the fans backing Gary does not and as a result continues to antagonise those against him - I totally agree a large bulk of them are arseholes and unreasonable but equally there is valid criticism of Gary - if he kept the reasonable fans like you and I and won over a few with better PR he'd be in a stronger position and could then have a viable future at the club - he seems unable or unwilling to do that so he has no viable future at the club
  16. Every credit but less might have turned their backs had Gary been less confrontational, pig headed and at least paid some lip service to the fans - we're in a vicious circle alot of fans are being unreasonable but so is Gary until that cycle is broken the inevitable will happen - he will leave the club I'm increasingly of the belief that will be sooner rather than later - he said this transfer window was his most important after saturday and without quality additions ultimately I believe it will be the catalyst for his departure.
  17. Just for the record I'm not saying he's my choice should we need a manager in the near future, just seeing him on champs league coverage reminded me he was out of work - viable option I think though
  18. it is sad and his face never will fit so we're stuck on this endless merry go round waiting for the inevitable to happen - which I think may be closer than people think - where we go from there, well hopefully the club might reunite because at the minute it's unrecognisable.
  19. a lot of the criticism is not aimed at results, granted alot of that criticism is bollox but alot is also valid - those results we got are the reason we didn't go down and credit to Gary and his team for that but there a plenty of punters where the result is not the be all and end all - maybe it should be but it's not.
  20. Fair comment re his consistancy other then Fulham at home where he had a particular shocker he was steady - as for the numbers issues well we've got Muamba, McCann, O Brian, Cohen all in a very very similar mould and other players ie Ricketts that could probably do a job breaking things up in midfield I just think regardless of numbers if one of McCann, O Brian or Cohen left we'd be no worse off. Time yet in the transfer window lets hope the bits of the jig saw come together and it doesnt end up with shite desperate loan signings at 11.55pm on the 31st!
  21. We have adequate (= not worse) replacements in cohen and o brian and if it helps oil the wheels to improve the squad in areas it needs improving ie less defensive players more attacking then it's good business and a move in the right direction.
