  1. That was a hell of a short summer break then - sorry misread your post !!
  2. This is what we wanted - an excellent 3 points for us combined with rival teams dropping points - who honestly thought Derby would drop 2 points tonight at home to Lincoln ? Lots more twists and turns to come : Onwards and Upwards indeed !
  3. Just looking through the full League 1 fixture programme tonight - with ourselves and another 8 teams realistically in contention for either automatic promotion or the play off spots I would say 3 points for us coupled with at least 2 of those 8 teams dropping points would be a decent night COYWM
  4. There are still a lot of twists and turns to come in this run in as the chase hots up particularly amongst the teams chasing 6th place and those trying to avoid the drop We are bound to see some results that go against forecasts Keep an eye on Shrewsbury Town - gone under the radar so far- could shake things up won 6 in a row and are top of the current form table and are now chasing that 6th spot and have to play all the top 6 We just have to keep focused and keeping winning our games l
  5. We played them 1956/57 in the first floodlit league match at old trafford - won 2-0 we also played them in another "first" at the start of 1949 season when they returned to Old Trafford after their bombed out ground had been repaired - they had until then been playing at maine road
  6. The next day was the last shopping day before Christmas and from memory it was moved at the request of local traders and the police Don't think there was much bother at that friday night game as a lot of the United fans had drifted away before the end of the game. One memory from the away at OT that season - we had gone on United season tickets in the stand opposite where the tv cameras are always located (what is now the north stand) and were sat right at the front of the stand near to the penalty area with a great view over the massed ranks of the stretford end. We had sat on our hands when we had scored our first but completely forgot where we were when we got the winner at the death - and leapt up to celebrate - as we calmed down the stretford end is singing " your going to get your f***** heads kicked in " with many arms pointing in our general direction. We made a stealthy and rapid exit into the night !!
  7. clean sheet would be very welcome - last time i went there we lost 5-4 not that i saw 9 goals was late in the ground and we were already losing 2-0 and then left 10 minutes before the end when they went 5-2 up terrible Bolton performance from memory think we might sneak a win this time
  8. No its not about rivalry this is the Wanderersways version of the doomsday clock We're just marking time till history repeats itself and it will
  9. Thought the same until i read just now that the Lawyer appointed to chair the independent review Panel is an Arsenal fan https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11718779/Man-City-panel-chair-Arsenal-member-Premier-League-charges.html That must surely mean a massiver points deduction incoming before the season ends Wonder If City will appeal and say he has a conflict of interest
  10. I dont think City's case is helped by the fact that the report "accused City of not co-operating since the investigation started in December 2018" For the premier league this is unchartered territory - at this scale of alleged breach anyway - sort of thing that only happens once in a blue moon
  11. This could take years to sort out - over 100 breaches !! Sounds like the Chickens are coming home to roost
  12. Firstly apologies if this has been posted already This is not the match but a brief news item about the Stoke FA Cup tie Our first ever sunday game in January 1974 which we won 3-2
  13. Most important thing from today - we got the 3 points And for once a few other results have gone in our favour We are 3 points closer to Plymouth , 2 points closer to Ipswich and 2 points further ahead of Barnsley Onwards and Upwards
  14. Be tied in to the next phase of the Developments around the Stadium - Emerson Park or Orbit Arena or even the Middlebrook Stadium
  15. But ... Why Why Why ? You do know the Welsh Rugby Union have just banned this song for promoting domestic violence ? Apparently Stokies are now worried that pressure will build for them to follow likewise Simon Jordan best sums it up https://talksport.com/sport/rugby-union/1321189/simon-jordan-wales-rugby-union-delilah-tom-jones/
  16. With no new signings you have to feel for all those Evertonians - especially those who flipped over the page of their their Official Club Calendars this morning !!
  17. Whilst we can all speculate all we like as to what/ifs when it comes to future results in the promotion run in based on performances to date , one factor that will have to be taken into consideration is all the new signings that have been made in this window and which clubs emerge stronger as a result Forest Green for example - relegation certainties ? have signed a virtual new team More relevant to us though is those clubs around us - some clubs seem happy to go more or less with what they have currently got - Ipswich and Plymouth along with ourselves being the most active. . Below are signings up to yesterday Plymouth Argyle IN (5): Defender: Saxon Earley, 20 (Norwich City) Midfielder: Callum Wright, 22 (Blackpool) Midfielder: Tyreik Wright, 21 (Aston Villa) Midfielder: Jay Matete, 21 (on loan from Sunderland to the end of the season) Striker: Ben Waine, 21 (Wellington Phoenix – New Zealand) OUT (1): Striker: Morgan Whittaker, 21 (end of loan from Swansea City) Sheffield Wednesday IN (1): Defender: Aden Flint, 33 (on loan from Stoke City to the end of the season) OUT (2): Defender: Mark McGuinness, 22 (end of loan from Cardiff City) Midfielder: Alex Mighten, 20 (end of loan from Nottingham Forest) Ipswich Town IN (4): Defender: Harry Clarke, 21 (Arsenal) Midfielder: Massimo Luongo, 30 (Middlesbrough) Striker: Nathan Broadhead, 24 (Everton) Striker: George Hirst, 23 (on loan from Leicester City to the end of the season) OUT (1): Midfielder: Tommy Hughes, 22 (released) Derby County IN (1): Midfielder: Tony Springett, 20 (on loan from Norwich City to the end of the season) OUT (3): Goalkeeper: Joseph Anang, 22 (end of loan from West Ham United) Striker: Jack Stretton, 21 (Stockport County) Striker: William Osula, 19 (end of loan from Sheffield United) Bolton Wanderers IN (5): Midfielder: Randell Williams, 26 (Hull City) Striker: Cameron Jerome, 36 (free agent) Striker: Victor Adeboyejo, 25 (Burton Albion) Striker: Dan N’Lundulu, 23 (on loan from Southampton to the end of the season) Striker: Shola Shoretire, 18 (on loan from Manchester United to the end of the season) OUT (4): Defender: Will Aimson, 28 (Exeter City) Defender: Owen Beck, 20 (end of loan from Liverpool) Midfielder: Oladapo Afolayan, 25 (FC St Pauli – Germany) Striker: Amadou Bakayoko, 27 (Forest Green Rovers) Barnsley IN (3): Defender: Bobby Thomas, 22 (on loan from Burnley to the end of the season) Defender: Barry Cotter, 24 (Shamrock Rovers) Striker: Max Watters, 23 (on loan from Cardiff City to the end of the season) OUT (3): Defender: Tom Edwards, 23 (end of loan from Stoke City) Midfielder: Tomas Kalinauskas, 22 (FC Den Bosch – Netherlands) Midfielder: Will Hondermarck, 22 (Northampton Town) Peterborough United IN (2): Goalkeeper: Will Norris, 29 (on loan from Burnley to the end of the season) Defender: Nathanael Ogbeta, 21 (on loan from Swansea City to the end of the season) OUT (2): Goalkeeper: Lucas Bergström, 20 (end of loan from Chelsea) Goalkeeper: Harvey Cartwright, 20 (end of loan from Hull City) Wycombe Wanderers IN (1): Goalkeeper: Harvey Cartwright, 20 (on loan from Hull City to the end of the season) OUT (2): Midfielder: Sullay Kaikai, 27 (Milton Keynes Dons) Striker: Ali Al-Hamadi, 20 (AFC Wimbledon)
  18. Dapo came on as sub yesterday - St Pauli won 1-0 at Nurnberg Decent crowd on - nearly 31k https://www.fcstpauli.com/news/der-fc-st-pauli-gewinnt-den-ruckrundenauftakt-beim-1-fc-nurnberg/ Love that top
  19. Here is the run in for the current top 6 Am sure there will be a few twists and turns
  20. Sounds Like Evatt and Declan John have kissed and made up Given his prolonged absence it equates to a new signing and if he plays like he did second half yesterday happy days https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/23283579.bolton-wanderers-boss-ian-evatt-explains-declan-john-charlton-return/ “
  21. well its been amended if it did - says Nlundulu now
  22. When you throw into this that his predecessor Liam Richardson was sacked within weeks of signing a new 3 year deal less than 3 months ago - that's an awful lot of compensation to ex managers racked up inside the last 3 months Then you think about players wages paid late 3 times, FA Sanctions now in place and having to deposit money into a separate designated bank account and the story in the press that the owner wants to sell up this surely has all the makings of administration all over again ?
  23. Folks saying its the biggest all time shock in Scottish cup football Got to say have never heard previously of their opponents
  24. Just worth a mention ( only picked up on this from the thread a few weeks back - Founder Member Question) Providing none of our next 3 league games are postponed this will be our 5000th league game ( if my maths is correct ) and we will become the 5th club to reach that milestone
