  1. Yep it's called that but in reality it's thornleigh 6th form
  2. There was supposed to be a bolton Catholic sixth form, they were hoping to have it at cuthberts but the salesian brothers had a tantrum and they just had thornleigh sixth form instead.. shame that I know me and a lot of others from Joeys would have gone to a bolton Catholic sixth form but didn't bother with thornleigh sixth form. The open day they couldn't have made it more obvious they didn't want us there
  3. My dad worked with him, said he was a really nice bloke, brought the cup into school, apparently in those days you got time off with pay to travel to away games playing amateur football.. Nice little number.
  4. Heard a hartlepool fan outside say that's the best they've played all season which seemed a pretty depressing thought. was pretty poor although we were best team first half and with a bit more cutting edge could have scored.. second half not as great and the goal is best forgotten
  5. Principled boycott of this cup goes completely out of the window when the match is down the road. In
  6. I thought @tomskiwas from Blackburn?
  7. When we played marseille their ultras where in town.. they all had the same hoody on. They were drinking in the elephant and castle when one stood up shouted a few things and they all left en mass.. never work here, people would be telling him to fuck off they've not finished their pint.

I went to Salford city when they built the new ground as I lived down the road.. annoys me to say but it was very well done.. they had a local brewery in, think it was 7 brothers and Street food as well as generic beer and usual football food.. stick that in a big tent showing the early kick off and not messing about with embarrassing entertainment and definitely no compare or forced fun.
  9. Walk over the dock Road and go to baltic triangle starting off with the baltic pub, I think it's become a bit more popular but it'll be an easy escape and 5 minute walk.. baltic used to be a great pub.. hopefully still is.
  10. RIP sad news.. as has been said thanks for the friendships and experiences
  11. This is amazing, surely it isn't real?? 2 thousand likes though never let you down liverpool

It's good their trying, I admit my remit of building a rough pub just behind the North and East stands is probably not going to pass planning permission
  13. Taylor report, Thatcher waging war on football and then a concerted effort by the Premier league to sanitise the game and change the audience.. Not saying that's right or wrong, crowds massively increased from the 80s..I wish though that I could find it but there's a speech by a German MP criticising the Taylor report and saying how they must never do that to the culture of football over there, something about football is the only place where people mix from all different walks of life.. I'm not saying its wrong or right but any football related disorder here is turned into the equivalent of a military coup in the press. I had mates saying to me I heard there was a riot at Wigan v Bolton. Whenever clubs put on attempts to help the atmosphere its inevitable that'll be fucking drums..
  14. I've read that full fact on smoking before, I always felt like it was saying its hard to measure the cost or the benefit either way.. round here loads of the scratters buy illegal cigarettes unwittingly from organised crime gangs, I've always wondered where that would fit in.. pimped up vapes are the new stuff, crime gangs selling them to kids, called geek bars.. anyway food wise in bolton i thought statement was good in westhoughton but I think that's closed. Red lion in hawkshaw is nice, definitely votes for Toby inn, Rosa and cherry tree as mentioned.
  15. Surely if macc could only get in top north west counties division they'll have to do the same at best, feel sorry for good teams in that division having promotion push sabotaged two years in a row.
  16. Went into dixie Dean pub in Liverpool about 20 years ago. Mate asked for some crisps.. barman said "what do you think this is a restaurant? Fuck off" it was grim in side.. there was a pub in edgeley near Stockport ground that was terrible.. slaters in Liverpool in the daytime used to be grim.. couple near city's ground are proper shjt holes as well. Pub by Salford Central Station was pretty shit and had walls covered in united murals as well. Agree with others it's a real shame about sweet green used to be a great pub.
  17. Interesting people mentioning racist stuff.. i went to 6th form in Wigan and got told two bollocks reasons why there were no asians there. One was that wiganers were waiting at the train station for them and wouldn't let them off the train so they stayed on to bolton. The other was that asians weren't tough enough to work in the mines so went to the mills in bolton (renowned for being an easy number working in mills). I don't remember wiganers being crazy racist but few lads from skelmersdale definitely were.. loveable scousers and all that.
  18. I met a mates boyfriend now husband who was a Blackpool fan from Fleetwood.. I said my mates a Preston fan from Fleetwood, he says he's got a wind up merchant little brother who's a Blackpool fan.. turned out it was him.. love stuff like that
  19. Spot on this, Wigan don't register that much for me but been surprised with all the anti Wigan chants at matches recently.. its the rival for a lot of the youth
  20. Just googled it looks good. I'll check that out when we're up in lakes next summer.
  21. I bet there's plus points to living in all those places though
  22. I'd go with white star recommendations.. places like Shildon and Peterlee are grim.. Rochdale and Oldham terrible.. Redcar not great but its a class beach and pretty near to saltburn which is ace.. workingtom, Whitehaven and maryport.. that coast just seems forgotten.. Sandwell is pretty awful. Another vote for medway too
  23. I'm not defending people who threw stuff but the Wigan players knew exactly what they were doing, there's been stuff on the Internet telling them to do it.. they were desperate for the reaction they got.. its a shame people gave it them.
  24. When I was a kid I was on a date with a girl walking to the cinema in bolton when we got caught up in a poll tax march.. loads of shouting and people aggressively telling a couple of kids to agree with them.. afterwards we watched honey I shrunk the kids ..... there was no second date
  25. Can't make sense of that, seems weird to watch the move be a disaster for salford rugby league then do exactly the same thing. When I left prestwich couple of years ago was starting see salford city shirts about and they were going into schools etc as local club.. be middle of nowhere now getting caught in united traffic if matchdays collide. Be a terrible away day at new ground
