  1. Didn't know people were anti-paddy? Seems like a really good bloke to me, certainly everyone I've spoken to likes him, used to work with someone who knew him well and thought he was great, plus hes a wanderer.
  2. Anderson has gone, ground would be an amazon warehouse by now if he was still in charge.. Top scorer in division signed for us due to the club and set up. Barrow were slow starters last season. Sold 8000 season tickets to a tv program.. our good motorway connections are finally attracting players. We're not bury or macc.. its gonna be something else going to the match for a month or two once all this is over.. I think that's all I've got
  3. They postponed a game up here at consett because they weren't following covid rules last match so sounds like league are getting on it
  4. Watching stockton town in Teesside, feel sorry for them, grounds not designed for big crowds yet but been victim of own success. They were getting 800 at some games last year.. they're pretty shrewd they've started showing games in the clubhouse for people who cant get into the ground and were selling masks yesterday that loads were buying. Not sure what happens if 150 gets enforced they've got over 220 season ticket holders
  5. Wish Ifollow started doing the training sessions they sound ace
  6. Match today bit better, I'd say 80% wearing masks and some social distancing.. official league attendance 150.. there was 300 there. Hopefully get to keep season going with masks and 150 in.. bit worried if club can afford it though
  7. It's a real shame, when this first started I thought it was bringing everyone closer together but seems worse then ever. I'm hoping theres a lot who don't comment and are just quietly getting on with it trying to do the right thing and look after people around them.
  8. Actually just checked it strongly advises bar is shut, I guess a lot will ignore that
  9. Durham and Northumberland FA now saying that 15% capacity allowed into the ground, face masks to be worn at all times and bars to be shut an hour before kick off till an hour after. Could be tricky 150 capacity and I think 230 season ticket holders last i heard.
  10. Saw workington play rammy few years back. Workington had a coach load of about 50 fans, everyone from about 8-80 looked like they could handle themselves.. didn't cause any bother but it would have been madness/brave to cross em.
  11. I've not looked at it but aren't germany letting something like 5 or 10 thousand into grounds and France is letting fans in as well. I wouldn't have thought it was possible but germans seem pretty on top of most things.
  12. Yeah that sounds great, I've not been impressed with the team I watch, I will say they've got the clubhouse sorted really well with one way systems and socially distanced seating, once you're in the ground though its disappointing. Public use the ground during the week and theres mobile nets on the side of the pitch that haven't even been moved so they block some of the view pushing people closer together, yet they move them for big matches usually. It's weird because usually they're shit hot on stuff and averaged around 500 last season. I know a couple of blokes up here who support other teams, one said they all stand in the corner near the bar and rest of the ground is empty, other said that they're fine accept it rained one match and they all packed out the stand.
  13. I can only say what I've found there's 300 every week at matches I've been too and people are stood next to each other for three sides of the ground then one end is pretty much empty, theres only two small stands, the 100 seater stand has people socially distanced and besides when it rained theres slightly less in the terraced stand then usual (not socially distanced) but most spectators are just leaning on the fence round the pitch, my mates been to watch local non league near him down south and says the same unfortunately. On Saturday they made people gel there hands going in which was something I suppose. I've managed to socially distance but I end up moving a few times as people come and stand directly next to you if you find space at the start of the match.
  14. That's really interesting article, I've got no idea what's going on anymore with all this. New information everyday on stuff I've never paid attention to before.

    Bury

Hopefully bacup give them the reception they gave FC United when they tried to give it the bigun round there
  16. Middlesbrough was first come first served for season ticket holders done over the internet for the 1000 tickets. They went in under 5 seconds..
  17. Couple of in-laws went to Middlesbrough match Saturday, said it felt safe and was very well organised. I suppose we'll find out how safe over the next week or so. I've been to a few non league matches and social distancing is non existent, rained one match and people were packed under the only standing roof. Doesn't feel safe to be honest but then no one seems to have got it from there yet so must be fairly safe I suppose hard to know.
  18. I'd be wary of anything by Christopher Snowden hea a massive opponent of the "nanny state" and against government interventions.
  19. I admire your confidence though that you've googled something on full fact and are now happy you've disproved peer reviewed research articles in british medical journal
  20. Smoking cessation on evidence I can find actually drags the number down its listed below 14 quid comeback on 1 pound investment
  21. It's an interesting viewpoint I think were moving slightly away from the original argument here so I'll resist putting cancer uk economic argument up or we'll be here all day. It doesn't actuallly say that smoking cessation costs the state anything. Obviously smoking kills 100 thousand people a year that's before you get to the quality of life and COPD it creates. It's one of the biggest causes of health disparity and supports the life expectancy between richest and poorest. I would argue the mental health problems this causes alone is immeasurable in communities. Anyone who's been on a respiratory ward can see the pretty horrible death people face, if this can be avoided for no cost I would say that's worth it. I do except though that the original argument was about the cost effectivenesss of public health, as pointed out though these gains are made in other areas, the problem with public health is that results can take years which is why pretty much no government is that keen to invest in it. I definitely approve of Johnson talking about obesity be interesting to see what he does with that. The evidence you put up contradicts NICE guidelines health economics on smoking cessation, be interesting to present it to NICE and see what they make of it
  22. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/society/2019/jul/17/nhs-could-save-billions-by-offering-cash-reward-to-quit-smoking Article reckons smoking costs NHS and economy billions
  23. https://www.google.com/amp/s/medicalxpress.com/news/2017-03-pound-spent-health-uk-average.amp It's a widely quoted figure in the NHS, depends on interventions like a lot of things, personally i would argue some public health interventions are worthless, I can think of some though that will be saving over 14. I know theres been a paper released recently that argues it doesn't which is definitely worth looking at but this is the figure widely repeated in public health circles, it's certainly taught on the public health degree because I've just got one.
  24. Yep dying breed, really sad when they say every pound spent on public health saves 14 quid yet public health keeps getting it in the neck,.
  25. Be similar to covid respons I would have thought they'll stop some services for the greater good. Be more community rather then hospital though for vaccinations. Public health nurses, speech and language therapists, some physios. Wouldnt be surprised if like Kent says they just bring people in to do it or offer good NHSP pay for shifts doing it. Bit different but when measles outbreak in manchester they threw the immunisation team an public health nurses into and i think had gp surgery practice nurses mopping up if anything came in, much smaller scale though that obviously.
