If we had players playing with that passion we would be up by now.

yesterday we did well but again fell short. Now we are in the lottery of the play offs.

Happy for progress but people say week in week out we are the better team so I think it’s fine to think we should have been in an automatic slot

Aye, being the better side 8/9 times out of 10 regardless of who you’re playing counts for very little at the end of it when you’re only 3rd best overall.

I was really confident about the play offs yesterday, and rightly so. However the more I think about them I realised it’s not just about how good you can be. It’s about bottle, digging in, keeping calm, taking your chances when they present themselves and not allowing previous experiences scar you. It did dent my confidence a little 🤣

  2. The change they made at HT changed the control of midfield. Maghoma first half was making Moxon look absolutely piss poor. So they brought on someone a bit more aggressive and defensive minded. Broke up our flow through midfield and in particular Maghoma.

That old cliche of  the last thing we wanted was half time because it allowed them to regroup and make adjustments. The 2nd half was never going to be the same story. Became a far more equal game. Yep we had the Bod sitter and Charles hit the post but if we had be gone in at HT in front we’d of won the game

Bod not squaring for Thomasson off the Collins effort was just as criminal as skying over from 5yards

  3. Derby could still do a Derby and put in a poor one next Saturday. Nowhere near a foregone conclusion that as Cambridge still need points.

if it is to be the play offs I just hope the disappointment of not getting the automatics doesn’t linger because no one out of Barnsley Oxford or Lincoln will fancy us over 2 legs with the 2nd at our place. The levels of performance we have reached since the Oxford game will be far too much for any of them

  4. At crucial moments in tight games you can’t be missing that chance for Bod in the 2nd half nor not squaring to Thomasson in the first half. These games are always determined by small margins. Ones we never really seem to be on the right side of.

think it was we Gonzo who said this morning that Pompey are similar to Plymouth last season . Pretty accurate comparison that. Good home record, keep it tight away and never drop below 7/10. Exactly the type of figures that get you promoted.

we’re still in the race but likely play offs. Just hope the disappointment of not making it doesn’t knock the stuffing out of us for them because we should be ok. Nothing to be scared off at all in whoever else makes it and in which positions

  5. Thought that was going to be the story of our season. Poor goal out of nothing to concede, the majority of the ball with loads of half chances we should’ve done better with but behind at the break.

maghoma stand out so far he’s been a class above Moxon in that midfield. There’s joy down the channels but high risk on Ogbeta’s side

    BIG half

The more I think about it, I'm actually going to be worried about Shrewsbury if we happen to win today.

Derby fans doing that silly bounce thing when they beat us thinking it was job done. I really hope we don't fall into the same trap if we win today - especially if results elsewhere do go for us.

    4 massive games ahead

Game at a time. Positive result today and then tues becomes just as big if not bigger then so does next sat. The margins are so small that we can’t look beyond anything or anyone

  7. It’s big this today. Season defining and I’m nervous

there’s been many examples over the past couple of years where the players have failed to turn up ‘when it matters’ but generally, they have been games that mattered to us, the fans.

today, this matters to everyone at every level. From the very top, to us, even the programme sellers outside.

of course there’s still another way of going up, but this will demonstrate to all what this team is about when it really matters. When things are riding on it. When it’s needed.

i pray to god they’ve got it in them

Not entirely sure we'll see Santos at all tomorrow.

Training didn't go to plan today, apparently.

Yep heard that after I posted.

Happy with Forrester coming in if so

Unless the Swansea lad fancies signing, I'd like to see him here permanently.

Even then, he seems measured, composed and a more solid defender than the others.

Ogbeta is a freebie at the end of the season and the noise he’s been making about loving it here, Manchester lad etc etc that seems a no brainer to me. Chuck Williams then Iredale in then chances for Ashworth look slim

  10. To be fair to Bod he’s not gonna see / anticipate a blind side run right across him as he probably thought any runner would be tracked by the man picking up. It’s not as though GT was late to react and followed him. He stood their rooted with hands on his head.

Massive fan of santos but even i will gave yengi credit for that neat

I keep reading beat him up, bullied him, destroyed him

    Get to fuck

They both gave as good as they got in a great physical battle

Hindsight, santos drops off and says beat me but hes not used to meeting his match

Who gave the free header for the first at theirs?

Yeh there were passages of play santos won the duel then Yengi won others. He’s wrapped up the majority of strikers at this level so would expect he’s learnt his lesson for sat

Thomasson let him go then he got across JDB too IIRC?

Also never seen a player commit as many fouls as Yengi without getting booked. 11 freekicks against him IIRC. He might not get away with as much away from home, but these refs are so shit

Yeh one of those battles Rico usually comes out on top of but he seemed to get penalised for everything where Yengi got away with a lot.

  13. Ashworth, similarly to Caleb Taylor is under contract with WBA until the end of next season. However when he signed for us it came with the option for us to sign perm. Doubt that will happen to be honest.

  14. Think we’ll see a different santos tomorrow. He’s been docile at best for a few weeks now but always seems to put in a commanding performance when he’s questioned. Yengi only played at their place as Bishop was out so maybe came across as a bit of an unknown quantity to Rico. He’ll know all about him for tomorrow

    2.8k isn't it?

Can't imagine many coming without, it's probably the worst ground in the league to come to for a party unless they want to celebrate in style with a game of ten pin bowling or buy a new sofa.

    2600 I believe

    Against Modern Football :)

They should be looking at an off the cuff special today

£50 adults £20 kids for all 3 homes. Anyone just doing less than all 3 pays the individual match price, anyone already bought who wants to do all 3 can ring and upgrade to the package.

  17. Simply a game we now HAVE to win. No ifs or buts. Posh are well in this race too so Saturday is absolutely humongous

it’s now or never for this group and the gaffer to show they have the minerals.

    Er...

Worded incorrectly . There’s a clear separation on the core that go regularly and the dormant lot. But let’s overlook that for the sake of being pedantic eh..

Is this true? We have c.16k season ticket holders, and an average home attendance of c.19k, from a town of 200k residents, within a borough of 300k. This is in the third tier of English football.

Beyond the borough, we have three of biggest clubs in Europe (if not the world) and another two Premier League (for now) clubs, within an hours drive of our stadium.

Beyond a very few neighbouring smaller towns, such as Atherton and Leigh, with no league team of their own, their is a multitude of competition for the “floating” fan in north west.

Similar sized towns and cities, such as Ipswich, Stoke, Norwich are a monopoly league club in their county and struggle to get better crowds than Bolton, when we’re at the same level.

I’d argue that our support is very robust, when measured against (admittedly slightly smaller) local peers, such as Blackburn, Blackpool, Preston and Burnley, and further afield peers such as Charlton and Crystal Palace.

Short of the sort of billionaire investment that delivers success and the associated glory hunters, I’d suggest our maximum core support is unlikely to ever get beyond 30k.

To have two thirds of that core support buying tickets for every game in third tier football is anything but fickle, in my opinion.

Course it’s true. Yes we have a very good core support when you compare us against other teams in the area but that’s not what I was comparing us too.

ST sales this year and last have been great. But let’s not crack on thinking that’s what we do or have done year on year. They were our highest numbers since the prem days. Prior to that we averaged around 12k which kind of proves my point.

listen this isn’t criticism of the fanbase, it’s more a point about the dormant lot. If we were in the position Pompey are on Saturday those tickets would be gone. So yes a portion of them are fickle. I get it but it doesn’t mean it isn’t true. Much like many a club

  20. Yeh I really couldn’t care less whether it was 23k or 28k. What I do know is there are times where they are on top and putting us right under it. Hopefully due to chasing something because they’re behind and I’d rather not have 4k of them getting right behind them. This game is as important if not more for us than it is for them

  21. Whilst the take up at this point is slightly disappointing we know how fickle a large part of our fanbase is. Derby defeat tomorrow and there’ll suddenly be a bit of a surge.

either way, I’d rather have it empty than anymore of these fuckers in there after they suddenly think they’re the best supported team in the land.

wanted a win purely from a table perspective which is big enough in itself but now seriously want to shut these mongalongs right up
