He's a really good player. However I always had the impression he was a midfielder or a winger. If its a replacement for Chungy, fine ... but we still need two strikers on top of this deal.
I also suspect this is a case of SWP or Tuncay - not both.
-
I was under the impression we had about 12500 season ticket holders last year. The club has recently said there's been a 15 per cent rise - which would make roughly 14000 season ticket holders this year.
I am guessing many of the newbies attended frequently previously so we'll probably only see our average for the season rise by 500-800.

Just to re-savour a type of atmosphere we'll never see again.
For ones I wasn't at it would have to be the Everton LC semi - it was the game after my first match and the compo tickets I relied on at the time didn't apply
Of course we lost, but to witness 50k in Burnden.
Mind you, I wonder what the equivalent crowd with a seated Lever End was?? Thus when I was at a 35k+ crowd for the Liverpool game in 1979 was that just as packed?
Plus as a little aside, just looking at the stat site, when we sealed the title against Fulham the year before we had 34,110 on, and I remember for a fact that there was one coach load of Fulham fans. So certainly 34k+ Bolton fans. Did we have that many against Everton? I doubt we've ever had that many at Wembley/Cardiff in my 10 attendances at said games.
So in your lifetime, what's the biggest number of Bolton fans you've been in attendance with??
were did they put those Fulham fans? My memory is that the entire Embankment was filled with Bolton fans.

I don't know the date of my (and my brothers) first game at Burnden and I can't be arsed looking, but it was when Keegan came to town with Newcastle, and I was on the embankment right next to the Newcastle fans.
Cassie - when was it?
That was early September 1982, second game of the 82/3 season.
-
... which match would you choose.
For me I think it would be Bolton 3 United 0 on December 22, 1978.

"I don't think people realise," said Kilby, "the trauma that the complete disappearance of your manager and the coaching staff can leave behind"
we know Barry
we know
Had Burnley lost their manager to Fulham, Stoke or WBA (ie a Prem lower to mid table side like us) there wouldn't have been half as much bile. The loss of Coyle to Bolton rammed home the message to them that they're not as big a club as we are. They've always thought they were. That's why their nose is out of joint and its been as big a 'trauma' as it has.
Just another club to add to the petty Bolton haters - Bury, Wigan, Tranmere et al

This shower are due a run of bad luck and this might finally be it. They've been punching above their weight since about 1990!

We need to utilise the loan market and get someone up until January. Going in to the new campaign with only Petrov and Eagles as wide men is not an option.

fucking typical

Hate them all but I do hope this season see's the demise of Wigan and Blackburn.
I agree with this. Wigan are always going to be in trouble at this level but Blackburn have had so much luck and good fortune over the years, mostly stemming from Jack Walker's influence and legacy. They are due some bad-times and I hope Venky's prove to the joke outfit they currently appear to be. That way the notion that they are in anyway a bigger club than Bolton will be shown as the mirage that it undoubtedly is.
-
I think Eagles would be a good addition - replacement for Moreno.
At right back we already have Steinsson and Ricketts, so when Ricketts is fit again that'll make 3 rbs. I wonder if Coyle intends Ricketts to be a reserve/squad central defender full time from now on with Steinsson and Mears vying for the rb role. To me Ricketts looks far better at centre back than right back.

Well whether its true or not its amusing to watch the ripples over in the land that time forgot. Unless this is denied by all parties they'll all be in the streets grunting with monosyllabic rage by this time tomorrow.

Nail hit firmly on the head there.
Yep. Spot on.

Did you read the original bit on the Bolton News website too before you posted?
That's right yeah. When I posted "Matt Taylor to West Ham" a week ago on here, starting this thread, I was doing so on the basis of pure guesswork and I just happen to have got lucky.
-
Just confirmation from the same ITK source that told me all about this a few days ago (see start of this thread).
The Bolton News is correct, Matt Taylor has indeed flown back to the UK and the deal with West Ham is being progressed.
I don't have any info on the exact fee I'm afraid.

In the shop window fully now then it would appear
the signs aren't great here. seemingly no bids made and therefore none accepted.

I'm fairly certain Big Fat Sam had the JSL, McCann, Cidd and maybe Braaten and Wilmhelmson deals signed, sealed and delivered before his toys went out of the pram. Which is why IMO the club would have been jammed in reverse with or without Old Walrus Features.
Cid and JSL, you're right (and also Dzemaili).
Braaten, McCann and Wilhelmson - no.

I see the rumours are that we are flying him out to Florida for talks. A good call as surely the current 'summer' weather here won't be a good selling point.
That's the 'fly him to the US and talk to him in the sun' plan out the window then
Do we run the risk of someone else nipping in by leaving it to the weekend?
-
as I said the other day when I started this thread ....
not sure ?2.2m is right though - bit less than that.

Some Spanish papers are saying it's a done deal apparently.
In terms of fee agreed it does seem to be 'done'. HOwever the Sunday People piece makes clear we've yet to persuade the player himself and three other Spanish clubs are interested.

Burnden v Preston in 93 when we got promoted
Burnden v Swindon in 89 when most of the Burnden Paddock was directed to leave at the end of the game across the pitch to the Manny Road! (in the days when Manny Road was 'members only' and the Paddock was packed for big gate matches)
Hull away in 93
-
Probably no truth in it at all, but Sunday People reporting we've had a 5 million bid accepted for Jeffern Suarez young winger who played for Spain in under 21's tournament. 3 Spanish clubs also interested. Can't see it myself but something s got to happen soon.
Only other thing I've seen this morning was in that paragon of truth and trustworthiness the Daily Star on Sunday - we're "pondering" a ?4m bid for Rhys Williams for Boro.

Went to Open Golf yesterday and was shocked to see said sweaty oaf labouring around golf course watching Tom Watson. Started by curling lip as he went by before gravitating to more obvious abuse. He gave me skunk eye several times. Miracle he got around without a heart atttack imo and look forward to my phone being hacked soon.
You did well not to kick him in the nuts.

... I thought Sean Davis was going to be back with us for the start of the new season. I note he was nowhere to be seen in the Tampa Bay game though!
