  1. Thinking Fast & Slow is a great read
  2. I don't do Twitter. Has anyone commented on this? https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/swiss-commodities-trading-company-pleads-guilty-foreign-bribery-scheme
  3. For clarity, is that Germany or GERMANY?
  4. Ive always thought him more Mr Magoo than Mr Miyagi.
  5. Don't be accusing him of making pigs smoke
  6. In fairness its an improvement on "Build back batter/bitter/butter" from a couple of years back.
  7. Yeah that's it. So to still do what they wanted to spending wise they face the choice of reversing the NI cut and the Tories labelling them as raising taxes on 'hardworking families' or they keep the spending commitment and the NI cut and they are labelled 'fiscally irresponsible.'
  8. Labour promised to spend it on amongst other things more scanners for the NHS (not sure who they were planning on interpreting the scans?). So now in order to keep that promise Labour need to find a tax to increase to keep within their own promise of no 'uncosted' spending. The obvious one would be to reverse the latest NI cut. The elephant in the room is the 'productivity savings' assumptions and the rather simple thinking that appears to underpin them.
  9. Both. Think that's the rules.
  10. No. I'm a rule taker not a rule maker

  15. @kent_white answered the 'quite simple' question very well yesterday. Rising demand due to an aging population living longer with multiple comorbidities, rising expectations, impact on the service of drastic cuts to public health and social care (both of which come under local government) and the same energy & other non-pay inflation that's hitting every other area of the economy. Trouble is he didn't give a pithy anecdote about 'managers', 'PFI', 'procurement' or 'demand from immigrants'; so you didn't bother paying attention to it.
